  • Let's define exactly what 'Quarters Coverage' means. Presented by JDFB Insider at joedanielfootball.com/membership.
    Quarters Coverage is a term that gets thrown around a lot. I'm going to try to define exactly what is, and is not, Quarters Coverage. I'll also show you some of the basics of the coverage and how you can use it with your football team.

    Hey coach, was just wondering, in a base 4-3 Blue (2 read) do you use the corners to force or what would you do?

    Great stuff! What are the best indicators for identifying Cover 4 vs Cover 2? Depth of corners?

    • @Joe4372
      @Joe4372  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yep. If the corners and safeties are close to a straight line, you've got quarters and if the corners are much closer than safeties it is cover 2. If you have press quarters, you can identify by looking at if the safeties are lining up in relation to the hashes or to the #2 receivers.

    Hello coach,
    In quarter coverage: What if both receivers #1 and #2 run 3 yards straight then turn both 45° inside deep slants? Do both Cornerback & Safety lock on them inside so leaving a huge outside field desert and maybe bumping on the dropping linebackers? TY in advance - GG

      The corner has an inside breaking route under 5 yards, he releases it. The Safety has an inside breaking route that is not threatening him, he releases it if it is not threatening him and looks to #1.

    What do you do vs trips & quads?

    • @dh31409
      @dh31409 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you're staying within quarters principles, you "in and out" / "banjo" 2 and 3, and play straight man on 1, vs trips.
      Vs quads, you've got to go to some zone principles. Find their best receiver in it, and divide him somehow. A 3 Cloud / Sky, with some hard funneling technique on the inside 3 receivers, and a deep outer 1/3rd over #1. That would probably use 5 pass defenders in zone, including your Mike from inside the box. vs quads.
      A lot of DCs, depending on down and distance, just go cover 0, and blitz the s out of 10 personnel now.

    What is the difference between quarters and cover 7 (saban world).

    • @Joe4372
      @Joe4372  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cover 7 is Saban's version of 2-read I think. I don't know all his terminology.

    • @iTzHunterx
      @iTzHunterx 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      C7 in saben language is a split coverage. Quarter quarter half.

    What if #1 runs a slant & # 2 runs a wheel?

    • @jordaneverson202
      @jordaneverson202 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Linebacker typically follows. If 2 goes out he is the outside backers. He needs to stick with him through wheel.

    Dude, you probably are a great coach. You also seem like a nice guy too. I'd have a beer with you anytime. Here is the problem though. The internet attention span is WAY LESS than your players. Your players belive in you because they play for you so they will sit and listen to you drone on and on about your inner thoughts. Get to the point. Also prep your power point presentations before you get online. 5 mins and 27 seconds of you prepping to actually show me at a quarters defense looks like vs jumping in and getting ER done is not good. Other than that, great video.
