Peter's Aircraft Carrier Wish

- Ever since he was young, wish kid Peter has dreamed of being a naval aviator. An avid student and athlete, this sixteen-year-old’s ambitions came to a halt after a debilitating seizure episode and subsequent cancer diagnosis that left him facing a long and difficult treatment plan. With the support of his family, Peter bravely faced chemotherapy, radiation and prolonged hospital stays. Through it all, Peter never let go of passion and reverence for the military. When Peter learned that he would receive a wish from Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic,, he and his family knew exactly what would lift his spirits and bring him the hope to continue battling. Peter wished to go out on an active aircraft carrier. This is his story.
Special thank you to the US Navy*, the service men and women at Norfolk Naval Station and the crew of the USS Harry S. Truman for assisting in granting Peter’s wish and for selflessly going above-and-beyond to help bring Peter’s dream back to life.
Additional thanks to GreenBuzz Agency for their role in the creation of this video capturing Peter’s wish come true. (www.greenbuzzagency.com)
Make-A-Wish is not officially endorsed by the US Navy or any of its entities
Found an update on him, he is currently a nursing student. Glad to see his is ok and going to school.
Mark8675332 so he’s still alive, you’re saying😲
@@mickfunny4185 Yes, I found recent information about him
Wow glad to hear the good news regarding this brave fine young man! God works in many strange ways and although his illness had sidetracked his plans for naval aviation sometimes the best career fits are those we just don't see before us. So many opportunities in nursing, especially for someone of his character where despite challenges he advances forward. In his career he will be serving many, more so on a personal level. Best of luck in your pursuit and passion of the Nursing profession, excellent choice!
He can fly DCS, now! Glad he's alive
@@k.s.7104 That is fantastic news,im glad to hear he is doing well.
Our military will go to great lengths to serve us Americans. Thank you for doing this for this wonderful kid! You rock, Peter!
I got Chills reading this
As a parent I just want to give Peter and his parents a hug, as a veteran I just want to salute Peter. Fighting an enemy he can't even stand face-to-face with makes him braver than most of us ever will be.
Mile High Jedi Couldn’t have said it better myself. 💯
that was good of the american navy to have this young person on board there battall ship and show him and his family found.and all the things he got to do whilst on it .hope he still well .
Its okay for a grown man to cry.
What a great young man. Just the fact that he wants to join the military tells me his parents did good bringing him up.
Someone joining the military is the sign of good parenting? FFS that’s a low bar.
Make-A-Wish ROCKS!!! Unfortunately, we lost our 6 year old son to a brain tumor/cancer. But ... Make-A-Wish of St. Louis (Jody Hay) gave us memories that I getto carry for Christopher until I die ... There's no way we can ever thank Make-A-Wish enough ... and Peter ... keep fighting ... keep beating cancer ...
Sorry to hear that. Losing a child is something I could not even imagine. I dont know if I could even get thru it if I was faced with that situation...but remember that our time here is very short and you will spend eternity with your son and family
That is sad beyond words. I am praying a blessing on your family right now.
Sorry about that
Hold on to those memories till the day you rejoin Christopher. May he rest in peace
This is one of the many reasons I am proud to be a Navy Vet. BZ to the crew of the USS Harry S. Truman for doing this.
Im not fond of the military, I have different political views, but reguardless, thank you for your service.
Keep on the good works..Pete ...
God bless them all!!!
this kid really ran a 4:57 mile even with a cancer diagnosis. Respect. My mile time is usually in the double digits..
My son was diagnosed with leukemia and his make a wish was with the USAF Thunderbirds at Nellis AFB, NV. I’d never seen him so happy before. Although I’m in the ARMY! 😏 they took real good care of him. Thank you Make a wish foundation and the USAF!
I live here in vegas, about 5 miles from the base I always hear them flying!
A very memorable moment in the military was walking the deck of an aircraft carrier in port CVN 74
Love this!!!
I am simply amazed -- Peter has been a tremendous young man who I was so lucky to have the opportunity to coach. Even before his diagnosis he had more heart that most young men I have known. During this period he has shown tremendous courage. Peter you are the best!
Coach Jim
I hate when people bash on the military like they don't care I'm glad they pulled together for him that hit hard when he said even as a teenager death can touch me that's for real man got me off my ass I like how he wants nothing more than to fly and his mom is a rock
What a nice guy
Man, these stories always humble you, especially seeing a young man like Peter. I just found out Salad n Go can let you donate to MAW, so every time I go I do.
Thank you for the Great video
I hope in the future he becomes a pilot his dream
Peter is such an amazing indivudal, it's an honor to be his friend :)
You tell Peter there are a lot of people who wish they had the honor of being his friend, but for now we will pray a blessing on him
Amazing 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
44 thumbs down, really. Clowns. All the best for the future young man.
Well done USN, proud that you could help make Peter's wish come true.
To Peter and his family hear this, if this incredible guy still has a desire to serve our country I think I have the perfect organization that could help him make that dream come true!
Peter seems like a great guy, and I hope and pray that he does that for a career! I have wanted to fly for a number of years, and I can understand his point of view. I can imagine what that wouldve been like, and I don't know how Peter could stay so tough. He is a living legend!
Cancer has had a devastating effect on my family, my wife died 22yrs ago from leukaemia and now myself with a different type of leukaemia.
It’s great to see how make-a-wish can bring such enormous smiles to Peter and his family.
Peter your a hero in every sense of the word.
This is the first time I've visit this great Opportunity for a young gentleman who truly has been blessed and on this Veterans Day I want to thank those who served and the support for making this a beautiful great adventure for this family to see there two sons have the time of there lives that they will never forget. And may God be with them all.
If this doesn’t make you cry, you ain’t human. Peter, you are a brave and great young man, may you’re dreams come true and I’m 100% sure that those you were around those few days are going to remember you forever.
The editing on this, and the story, is (wow)
Trevor Morgan they did one helluva job, that’s for sure!
I love this!!! Way to go Peter!! What a great day you had. I am so thankful you are doing well. My prayers have been with you and your family. I hope you have a wonderful summer.
I simply. positively, and absolutely, love our Military and the Make A Wish Foundation. God Bless America!
Stay strong Peter. God is watching over you, never stop pursuing your dreams. I will be praying for you, and your family.
Well done Peter. Hope and pray you are well and doing great. 👍👊💪Hero
Thank you! Two years in remission, I'm wonderfully healthy and I'm in school to become a nurse.
@@petermichaelis3520 Outstanding! Good luck!
@@petermichaelis3520 Wow. Praise be to God Peter. Shoes of the fisherman
@@petermichaelis3520 Hello and love from Canada Peter. You are an inspiration to all.
Hell yeah man! Cheers from Newfoundland Canada my friend! You're as much a warrior as those on the carrier!
What people often forget is that this kind of day is not just for the person who is ill but also for the family, because they get a good memory of the person smiling and having a blast and that can be a good aid in keeping positive after the loss and something to remember how people did that for them and their loved one.
From someone who always wanted to be a Fighter-Pilot but never could, "Big Thumbs Up" ;-)
My Sister is AD & my fiancé is a pilot! Bless to be a Navy Family!!!
Great family! Peter, I wish you all the best and God bless you.
I was glad to get the invitation to watch this video from a family friend. I am encouraged that great things will come for Peter and pray for his family's continued strength. But I am also amazed at how an uplifting event can change a persons perspective and trajectory into the future. Fair winds and following seas to you, Peter!
I share the pain I may not have a terminal illness but diabetes ruined my plans of joining the military
That’s a great dream for you to have man And thats all that i am really going to be saying to you guys about that much because of corse that i really really really really want you guys to know that.,!!!!
It was awesome what the navy did for this kid.
What an awesome little guy. Damn, 'god' look after him and keep him well.
This is an amazing video that acutely shows what Peter and his family have gone through. Well done.

God is in control! Stay strong & live on Peter! Way to go Navy❤!!!
I'VE WALKED A MILE IN THAT GENTLEMAN'S SHOES I TOO AM A TWO TIME CANCER SURVIVOR
I survived brain cancer at 16 having a prognosis of 2 weeks to live without surgery. I had the surgery and that was 41 years ago. God bless you.
I feel this young man's fight. I'm in the final stages of beating NSCLC. I at least have lived a life. I'm 60 next year. Bravo Zulu Peter. and to you Linda
He's living the dream! I'm so glad the MAW foundation and Navy helped make his dream come true. I bet he'd have loved to go for a ride in that Hornet! I truly hope his dream of being a naval aviator comes true and he can grant a child's wish!
Go Peter God bless you and the us military
As a squadron member of VF 24 Fighting Renegades, that was on the USS Nimitz, I can tell you that it is great to see Peter got to be on an Aircraft Carrier. Although I can say that it was lonely at sea, there is nothing like seeing Peter get his wish.
Such an inspiration, such a fighter.
That's an amazing story while I doubt he ever be a military pilot, or even a private pilot with his medical history of a seizures he always have this memory to look back on.
We live in the best country in the world! Don't ever forget it!
Best country in the world is definitely not America.
Not sure where you live, but if it the US, they have flights leaving everyday.
This really hits har damn a friend of mine that I go to school with “Jacob peterman” has cancer and right now it looks like he beat. Jacob is a beacon a beacon of hope to all kids with disease that no matter the odds you have a chance of coming out on top god bless you all 🙏

You can fly with me anytime, Peter. Live your dreams. YOU CAN DO IT!
We are not guaranteed a good life or a long life. We a given life. What we choose to make if it is up to each of us.
In the words of Robin Williams character Jack in the same titled movie, whe he gave the graduation speech he said "Make your life spectacular". We each have with in us the ability to make our own lives spectacular or not.
Great job you guys are awesome people
I've watched so many of these videos, they're so awesome. Thank you make a wish.
You found your wingman Peter. Keep it going. From Canada

It’s a beautiful thing.....
Make a wish thank you 🙏 my brother
I came here for fun, and I found feels 🥺🥺
Fantastic, good on you guys and the Navy!
Awesome! Go get em young fella!
I'm wondering if a pilot's call sign is Maverick and Goose or maybe Iron Eagle what about a good call sign Pathfinder
Captain School was my Executive Officer on CVN-65 back in 2011.
Not many people get to sit in admiral's chair
THAT IS AWESOME!
Awesome! Just awesome!!!
Great great story!!!
How many non navy kids can say the pileted and steered(?) an aircraft carrier
It would've been an amazing chance to go up in a two seat Hornet.
I do, however, understand why they probably didn't, probably worried about the G forces of a fighter jet on his body. And being launched on a catapult is a very jarring experience.
Only guesses on my part but yeah. Still, they gave him a once in a lifetime VIP experience, and im proud of our Navy.
god bless you peter
This was posted in 2016, it's now 2019 and there are 34 down thumbs, as far as I am concerned all 34 of you cal all go to Hell.
Good job Mom & family & good luck Peter in what ever you decide to do. God Bless.
