Tbh the snap nerf literally had no effect on me. It was actually a problem before because you could get full combo into guaranteed pressure and mix as well as at the time fuzzy your opponents. Early DB gave the winner too much advantage
i dont disagree that old snap was def bad for the game. but there we also other ways to change it, such as making snap cost meter with meter penalty as for fuzzies, i dont think they needed to be completely removed. i think hurboxes should have been adjusted so that less characters were affected for sure tho
This fighting game is honestly in my opinion, one of the worst. The combo mechanic is extremely easy, and if you get backed into one of the stage corners? Consider yourself a fucking deadman. Because there is little to no chance you are getting out of that bullshit. There's just no skill involved, I find most fighting games give players options they can use to their disposable to give them more of a chance to get out of the corner. Whether thats from a combo in a characters list, or even interactive items on a stage. Theres always a failsafe in play for a player to use to make it more fair if a player is backed into a corner. DBFZ doesnt have anything like that, so the player cant do anything if it happens.
This game was at its best in season 1. I was a god at the game back then. Around summer 2019 i never touched it again. Sad because im sure majority of the ppl playing now didnt even experience season 1. Ngl im really disappointed what happened to this game man i loved it so much
Watching this video now in late season 3 and I agree with almost everything. Wake up options are dumb. But there even worse defensive options, like frame one counter THAT YOU CANT safe jump and they 50/50 you with frame one counter or 5L on wake up unless you have specific set up with specific character and assists that most of people dont have because they play the character they like. Not to mention how UI goku made the game unfun for everybody in the casual and pro scene.
imma be real this could be a very unpopular opinion but id rather fight ui than any of the top tiers from season 1 or 2. ui has strong shit like defensive options but is he really that broken as a fighting game character? he doesnt exactly do the highest damage, his neutral is committal, and so are his defensive options, so if you play a good conditioning game its very possible to beat him, whereas in season 1 the defensive options sucked so you could never escape vortexes period and in season 2 everyone not only had better mixups but we found snap vortex which was way less fun than the current game. tbh i dont even think anyone deserves a nerf at all right now, the games balance overall is in a great spot
@@shadowsavant0969 the balance is in a good spot but some characters need a nerf and few one a buff . That being said this game is not bad in term of balance, I agree. About UI the problem is that is not easy to punish because he can DHC and be safe after the dp and after the reversal 4 frames he has million options. I have no problem to beat UI online because you can safe jump everytime of course. But good players are very annoying and every time he use EX flip is a guess situation for both casual and tournament players (you can clearly see that in the National Championship in so many games). Defensive options are annoying in this game it is starting to be quite popular opinion. All of these shit get even worse online with the DBFZ's netcode unfortunatly.
I think more people are with you on most of this than you might expect. The game is definitely far better-suited for spectators than players in a lot of ways. Fun to watch, fun to play casually, don't envy anyone playing tournaments. The wakeups have always been my biggest gripe with the game personally, I'm hella with you on those, they smack hard of Arcsys desperately trying to avoid the game having anything vaguely resembling Xrd's vortex play, I guess out of some kind of fear that it'll be a turnoff for new players, as if new players playing people of their own skill level are gonna be dealing with even half-decent oki anyway. I'm not some ten-year FGC veteran or whatever myself, DBFZ is the first tag game I've put any time into, and the wakeups being the way they are turns me off far more than if every knockdown was death. Half the time I don't know what sliding knockdown is even supposed to be accomplishing. I could spend time working on my oki options to cover different wakeups, but with how many there are to cover, I just end up asking why the fuck I'm the one who has to hold a mixup on my own knockdown. Ultimately, it's an Arcsys game, best we can hope for is significant system changes if a sequel or new version comes along, but you only have to look at the Strive beta to see where their priorities are now. I'll keep watching DBFZ, keep playing it sometimes with friends, it's a cool game, and for all it does wrong, I do think there are plenty of things it does right. If I'm gonna put real time and effort into a tag game, though? Give me Skullgirls any day. I've got plenty of issues with that game too, and I'm trash at it, but the netcode is good, the characters are distinct, and if you get a hit, you're rewarded appropriately.
myself, im picking up power rangers bftg which in my opinion is a far superior tag game and came out the same year, as well as getting back to my roots like marvel vs capcom and sf3 third strike, so you might see more third strike content on the channel soon. but yeah fighterz devs priorities are obvious from strive, they want to cashgrab the new 5% players that heard of it from a friend rather than keep the competitive players playing which will only backfire in the end
Those are all games it'd be great to see content on from you, definitely with you that BFTG is pretty dope. It's funny, I've gone back and played a decent amount of 3S, and that's also a game where I feel strong universal defensive mechanics kinda fuck with the flow, and invalidate a lot of options. I usually like characters with a good fireball game in SF, and throwing ground fireballs in neutral against anyone awake enough to parry might as well be a meter donation. Still love the game, still a great competitive title even if high-level 3S is a little jank, still the game I'm more likely to bug my friends to play than DBFZ. Funny how much more tolerable strong universal mechanics are when they're interesting, take legit practice, are generally risk-reward based, and the rest of the game around them is rock-solid.
yeah i wouldnt say third strikes defensive option problem is nearly as bad as dbfz, because its not a situation where one player has advantage and then the game gives you a free way to take it back, its a skill based, execution based mechanic that if you play the game well you can sometimes take momentum back, like you can die from chip damage so parry isnt an option its a necessity sometimes and different speed fireballs creates the fear to even try it i personally enjoy that well rounded kind of defensive idea and also the combos are a lot more unique for each character and take more skill to input than just cr M st M jump etc etc, im definitely not dropping dbfz because like i said i still enjoy the game thanks to mbuu and this new team that lets me "play the game" but yeah i definitely intend to post like bftg sets and maybe 3s fightcade matches, dont know if ill pick jojo back up since i didnt enjoy that game as much as others but i am thinking about retrying marvel 3, only thing keeping me from playing that game right now is dead online but yeah expect more than just dragonball on the channel soon enough when i have time to learn the games and play better

Also just wanna say that I really liked the video u did here man, u did a great job listing off all the issues with this game
i will say this, some of these issues i have "warmed up to" as i played more and more and if i didnt like certain things about the game i wouldnt keep playing it you know but i also come from many other fighting games so i know what things people find frustrating when they play dbfz, for me its just a different flavor of a fg but for other people theyre huge issues, i guess it depends on the person. i find it ironic that half the playerbase hates superdash when its the basically the only unique mixup this game has lol
@@shadowsavant0969 yeah no I agree with everything u said tho, all of these things u brought up r things that really bugged me too (maybe some more than others) and you’re one of the few people I’ve seen who’s actually addressing these issues properly (another would be Clayton Chapman). Also yeah people complaining about superdash is so ironic since it’s the only unique mixup as u said, I kinda feel it’s more like the rest of the game is so fundamentally flawed and hypocritical that it doesn’t live up to the superdash which is something actually cool and unique to it
i think that a lot of the fundamental flaws of this game are part of its design. people are not used to it and i understand why because it really isnt something a fighting game would do, and to someone who came from say gg, its incredibly frustrating to play a game with so much less mixup, its extremely hard to open up good players in this game however, what i mean by design is because superdash is one of the only unique mixups and its mostly a neutral mixup, the most engaging and fun thing about this game is actually the neutral. which is very ironic because on release everyone said "dbfz has no neutral" but now its a super advanced and addicting neutral with all these components to watch out for and play around, THATS what i think this game is all about, is playing neutral. theres so many ways neutral resets and so many things that in other fgs would be absolutely broken that in this game are the norm, so i think what the devs wanted was it be very hard to open people up generally but that it felt zippy and fast when you were moving, just like an episode of dbz where 2 people are just rushing each other over and over with no clear hit or winner and moving at fuckin mach speed thats just my little theory lesson anyway. like i said, its not for everyone its just how i think they wanted the game to be. i dont think they will ever change it because its probably intentional
I suffer because my muscle memory is already instilled with the autocombo and it's difficult to retrain and do combos where you cool stuff like jump canceling. Apparently it's easy - but - after putting an hour aside to try and train this even with a video tutorial on the side it's just too difficult because I can't even figure out what I'm doing wrong because I don't understand fundamentally what's going on with how hits translate and when I'm able to follow up attacks and when I'm not.
if you keep practicing it youll understand eventually. when i was learning bass and guitar i had to slow down riffs in order to learn them, maybe learn combos in pieces instead of one giant string since combos in this game are pretty long compared to other games. good luck
You have to keep practicing. It took me like a week before I get the BnB down at a basic lvl, and make sure you choose characters who actually have the BnB cuz a good portion of the characters don’t have the traditional one
Idk, I think giving the losing player levity for the matchups keeps the winning player on their toes. It makes sense in my head to keep matches from being one sided.
i think this comes down to player philosophy and your background as a player. i used to play marvel vs capcom, if u lost the first interaction you had to be prepped to make a comeback rather than you killing someones character and then anticipating their comeback. it feels like, as i said, punishing the winner for winning the game is much different now. maybe i should update this video?
I don’t agree with everything you said here, but I have to respect that you put your opinions out there without giving a damn about what people would say.
most of my opinions come from my background as an ex-marvel vs capcom and ex-street fighter player so thats likely why the tug-of-war feeling the game has is becoming unappealing to me but i definitely think that at least some can agree that a lot of things in this game are bad for its competitive scene in the long run
the thing about x factor in marvel is that offense was so strong and overpowering in marvel that even x factor usually straight up did not matter because it wouldnt get you out of the incoming mix, but in this game the mixups are not nearly strong enough to warrant having not only a burst with your x factor, but a passive damage buff that stacks on top of it also, i have changed my mind on a lot of stuff in this video so i will probably either make a new one or even delete this one
You forgot to mention auto combos lol but yeah i play this gsme high level. And theres alot to complain about especially delay net code. The slow matchmaking. But asfar as the way the game plays i would change so much about the spark first off spark if its going to regen your health it should nlt build you bar faster. Second sparking gives you damsge reduction while regening thst shluldnt stack on the season 2 final character 10% damage buff. Like what? There are characters lile baseku that already do 10% percent more damage as last character so if they are last character with baseku and then spark?? Solo one character tod should not be a thing. Sorry lol but if your telling me tien baseku and a handful of other characters csn do iy and not all characters of last character spark????? The games not balenced lol at all i agree the first patch between season 1 amd 2 is when the game was the best.
Awesome vid. I totally agree, DBFZ is littered with problems and has so many design choices that are all kinds of wrong. Unlike you, I lost my patience with DBFZ and now I use it as a beer mat. Shame, I think DBFZ is a missed opportunity.
i actually dont remember if i made this video or not but i had the idea to go over reasons i actually do like the game and why i keep playing it despite my criticism i totally get why a lot of people cant play this game and why it seems like its crap and all that fun stuff, i was raised on the oldies of fighting games but i do appreciate some things this game does correctly
yeah thats one thing this game rewards which is boring is just sitting and blocking, if you get good at reacting to the reactables the game becomes very unenjoyable which is why 50/50s are so important to have
Personally, i think wakeup has to be powerful when you’re two touching everyone. It’s not like mk11 where you have room for error. I shouldn’t be punished by losing an entire character just cuz i guessed wrong once on your unseeable 4 way mix up😂
well more like unseeable 50/50 since most characters dont have corner steal but yeah. i dont necessarily hate the idea of variable wake up but i havent heard of any other game where there are 30 potential frames they can getup, and where at high level, dashing out of the corner and still being able to block is a legitimate, common occurrence. if you get hit, you should have to take pressure, and uptech/backtech/delay tech should be enough to remedy this. sf3 third strike has two variable techs and its already difficult to meaty in that game, i see no reason this game in particular needs 30 possible variable timings as well as snap variable also even with variable tech, characters like piccolo, beerus, majin buu and gotenks can remedy the entire wakeup timing with one special and even mixup off of it, so it doesnt even work in the first place. even if thats a character specific argument, it also didnt even have function in season 2, where you could snap for oki, or where gt assist call covered all techs with good timing anyway basically, i just think it tends to be either completely useless as a mechanic when it doesnt have the chance to come into play, or far too strong when it does, especially in 1v1s
not "mad". there were obviously problems with snap looping in the earlier seasons and it was not fun to play or watch. however, in other fighting games with different kinds of character balance or game balance or perhaps even in this game with a different vision of how the mechanics would work i think they could have been something healthy, or at least less defining than they were in season 2. for example, you could balance the game so that the big characters that got fuzzied were all super broken and had huge advantages, but then their crippling weakness would be that they would be vulnerable to fuzzies when few characters would be. for that to work, youd need to change fuzzies anyway so that theyd affect much less characters, not cripple half of the roster, and maybe give certain low tier characters a fuzzy mix so they can contend with the top tiers. instead of artificially removing fuzzies they could be reworked and turned into something more healthy for the game
not really. this video highlighted my problems with the game but i never really gave any attention to what i liked about the game in this video, and there are things i like about the game. if i didnt like the game, i wouldnt play the game, its as simple as that
@@xenosaiyan7246 when they go up in level they get better spamming, u goku gogeta 4 and blue are very easy to get win with them U will get hit if face them whole they smash on X and also responding are faster and more other stuff

This is my view of all fight games.
the game is good. if i didnt like the game, i would not keep playing it and have a channel dedicated to it. these are just gripes many people in the fgc have with this game
Mk11 is waaaay better at least you can use any character and have a fighting chances this game pfffft i never pick anyone except yamcha original goku and vegeta with tail
this game is so good but so lame at the same time, because think about it, combos in other fighting games are ways to make you win and deal many damage but in this game combo is just a show off. the damage dealt by combos and specials and powers just don't make sense, its like a game of who can do cooler moves. In mortal kombat it's essential to learn to do long combos because you can deal so much damage, its a winning card but in this game its just to show how skilled you are. lame fighting game but a fun dragon ball game.

Also yeah people complaining about superdash is so ironic since it’s the only unique mixup as u said, I kinda feel it’s more like the rest of the game is so fundamentally flawed and hypocritical that it doesn’t live up to the superdash which is something actually cool and unique to it
i think that a lot of the fundamental flaws of this game are part of its design. people are not used to it and i understand why because it really isnt something a fighting game would do, and to someone who came from say gg, its incredibly frustrating to play a game with so much less mixup, its extremely hard to open up good players in this game
however, what i mean by design is because superdash is one of the only unique mixups and its mostly a neutral mixup, the most engaging and fun thing about this game is actually the neutral. which is very ironic because on release everyone said "dbfz has no neutral" but now its a super advanced and addicting neutral with all these components to watch out for and play around, THATS what i think this game is all about, is playing neutral. theres so many ways neutral resets and so many things that in other fgs would be absolutely broken that in this game are the norm, so i think what the devs wanted was it be very hard to open people up generally but that it felt zippy and fast when you were moving, just like an episode of dbz where 2 people are just rushing each other over and over with no clear hit or winner and moving at fuckin mach speed
thats just my little theory lesson anyway. like i said, its not for everyone its just how i think they wanted the game to be. i dont think they will ever change it because its probably intentional
What do you think of Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi 3? In my opinion;I still think its the best dragon ball title which is kinda sad.
Shadow: "Majin Buu is top 1, don't question it."
Me whispering to Advanced, Junago, Draulic, Jeyy, Jam, and Fleet: "This is a load of barnacles."
What’s that song in the background in the beginning?
i think it says it in the video
Also is that superjoint I hear?
Idk, I think giving the losing player levity for the matchups keeps the winning player on their toes. It makes sense in my head to keep matches from being one sided.
i think this comes down to player philosophy and your background as a player. i used to play marvel vs capcom, if u lost the first interaction you had to be prepped to make a comeback rather than you killing someones character and then anticipating their comeback. it feels like, as i said, punishing the winner for winning
the game is much different now. maybe i should update this video?
@@shadowsavant0969 yes, you should.
I don’t agree with everything you said here, but I have to respect that you put your opinions out there without giving a damn about what people would say.
most of my opinions come from my background as an ex-marvel vs capcom and ex-street fighter player so thats likely why the tug-of-war feeling the game has is becoming unappealing to me but i definitely think that at least some can agree that a lot of things in this game are bad for its competitive scene in the long run
don't forget ppl can't have bad ping to win agains't you so you can't react to any move don't forget about that plus no netcode
Let piccolo get you to the corner then see if you can guess the mix
3:50 X-Factor was a thing... you must have forgotten.
the thing about x factor in marvel is that offense was so strong and overpowering in marvel that even x factor usually straight up did not matter because it wouldnt get you out of the incoming mix, but in this game the mixups are not nearly strong enough to warrant having not only a burst with your x factor, but a passive damage buff that stacks on top of it
also, i have changed my mind on a lot of stuff in this video so i will probably either make a new one or even delete this one
Shame, I think DBFZ is a missed opportunity.
i actually dont remember if i made this video or not but i had the idea to go over reasons i actually do like the game and why i keep playing it despite my criticism
i totally get why a lot of people cant play this game and why it seems like its crap and all that fun stuff, i was raised on the oldies of fighting games but i do appreciate some things this game does correctly
@@shadowsavant0969 That's fine. Anyways I liked the straight talking honesty of the vid because of it, I subbed to your channel.
omg i hate when you reset the layout again and again every every 2 seconds, so annoying
Auto Combo spammers, very long combos and also you welcome to use assessment , blocking is really baaaaad
Everytime I play against another player, the other person just blocks all day
yeah thats one thing this game rewards which is boring is just sitting and blocking, if you get good at reacting to the reactables the game becomes very unenjoyable which is why 50/50s are so important to have
The fact you are angry about someone playing the game smart, means that you rush in and die.
@@diavolo4769 I have an aggressive play style but know how to block. Its unrewarding when someone can just downblock and you cant do anything
Personally, i think wakeup has to be powerful when you’re two touching everyone. It’s not like mk11 where you have room for error. I shouldn’t be punished by losing an entire character just cuz i guessed wrong once on your unseeable 4 way mix up😂
well more like unseeable 50/50 since most characters dont have corner steal but yeah. i dont necessarily hate the idea of variable wake up but i havent heard of any other game where there are 30 potential frames they can getup, and where at high level, dashing out of the corner and still being able to block is a legitimate, common occurrence. if you get hit, you should have to take pressure, and uptech/backtech/delay tech should be enough to remedy this. sf3 third strike has two variable techs and its already difficult to meaty in that game, i see no reason this game in particular needs 30 possible variable timings as well as snap variable
also even with variable tech, characters like piccolo, beerus, majin buu and gotenks can remedy the entire wakeup timing with one special and even mixup off of it, so it doesnt even work in the first place. even if thats a character specific argument, it also didnt even have function in season 2, where you could snap for oki, or where gt assist call covered all techs with good timing anyway
basically, i just think it tends to be either completely useless as a mechanic when it doesnt have the chance to come into play, or far too strong when it does, especially in 1v1s
All of the above, and this game gets under my skin
I can't fuck with a fighting game that has zero normals
This game was good until UI Goku came
Nah Gt Goku
@@amirabans1127 I didn't run into GT Goku as much
Arcsys broke GT arms legs and everything
What do you think of season 4
pretty fun, still has a few core issues but they added more broken mechanics and buffed almost everyone so the game feels very fun
Based Ibuki pfp
So your mad that fuzzy mix is gone?
not "mad". there were obviously problems with snap looping in the earlier seasons and it was not fun to play or watch. however, in other fighting games with different kinds of character balance or game balance or perhaps even in this game with a different vision of how the mechanics would work i think they could have been something healthy, or at least less defining than they were in season 2. for example, you could balance the game so that the big characters that got fuzzied were all super broken and had huge advantages, but then their crippling weakness would be that they would be vulnerable to fuzzies when few characters would be. for that to work, youd need to change fuzzies anyway so that theyd affect much less characters, not cripple half of the roster, and maybe give certain low tier characters a fuzzy mix so they can contend with the top tiers. instead of artificially removing fuzzies they could be reworked and turned into something more healthy for the game
@@shadowsavant0969 Have your opinions changed about the game since then?
not really. this video highlighted my problems with the game but i never really gave any attention to what i liked about the game in this video, and there are things i like about the game. if i didnt like the game, i wouldnt play the game, its as simple as that
I love this game to death but you're totally right lmao
I made a tier list a few days ago, check that out if u havent already. I am also planning a big season 4 majin buu guide which is in production now

broly great designed lmao
@@guyfauks2576 greatly designed
I say it a cool game, other games like street fighter is just not for me and I feel its not as cool as DBFZ reasons:
1.Can't charge
2.Bar meter is only 3 or 4
3.Can't tranform
4.Can't play 3v3
6.Hard to do super moves or ultimate moves
7.Health decrease fast
8.Time limit 99 seconds
9.No support like Dragon balls to help when player is in need.

Wrong
You cant choose your enemies when playing 1v1 or 2v2 that is so sad.
Man... you are so wrong...
feel free to disagree, this is only my opinion and i dont really care what other people think of mine
this game is so good but so lame at the same time, because think about it, combos in other fighting games are ways to make you win and deal many damage but in this game combo is just a show off. the damage dealt by combos and specials and powers just don't make sense, its like a game of who can do cooler moves. In mortal kombat it's essential to learn to do long combos because you can deal so much damage, its a winning card but in this game its just to show how skilled you are. lame fighting game but a fun dragon ball game.
