SRV ~ 🎸🐐 The goatiest goat in all of goatness The holy trinity of SRV vids: **Texas Flood at El Macambo** **Life Without You at Capitol Theater** **Voodoo Child at Austin City Limits 1989**
Maybe few words in this song performance, but Stevie sure makes his guitar sing! Check out not only the guitar solos, but the passionate vocals on his "Ain't Gone 'n' Give Up On Love" (at the Capitol Theater, 1985). Stunning!
I came of age in Austin at the time Stevie was making his chops and becoming famous. Some of my fondest memories of that time was going to watch him play at local clubs like Antone's, Hole In The Wall, Liberty Lunch, etc. Even after he got big he and the Fabulous Thunderbirds, his brother Jimmie's band, would play Labor Day, Memorial Day, Christmas, and New Year's Eve shows for their hometown. A good friend of mine here in Austin is a guitar player, can't throw a rock in Austin without hitting one. Anyway, back in '87 Mike was playing a gig at Antone's and broke a pickup on his guitar and was ending the show early because he didn't have a spare. BTW, Mike played a Fender Strat, like Stevie. As he was packing up, Stevie appeared out of nowhere with a spare set of pickups he had taken off his #1, the very guitar he's playing in this video. He had been in the back with Clifford Antone enjoying the show without anyone's knowledge. He told Mile he was enjoying it and didn't want him to stop. He literally gave Mike the pickups off his favorite guitar to keep playing. Like giving the proverbial shirt off his back. That's who he was.
Check out the full video of Stevie ray at Austin city. Limits live one of the songs. He has a string. Break keeps playing and looks back to his guitar, tech. And does the coolest guitar switch you'll ever see?
That's a real Steve ray's song.... His style, his genius....Don't listen to his Jimi Hendrix's covers which are ridiculous....Listen to jis own songs, style....Peace from France
