I don’t think people appreciate how hard this is to do on the floor and outside especially in less than half a day and without any errors Master tradesman !
Probably one of the best in-depth step by step how to videos I’ve watch on TH-cam 👍 the camera positioning & editing alone must of taken just as long as it did for the clutch change itself, hat of to you pal give me the confidence to change mine myself if the engine lasts that long 👌 was a deserving watch to let the adverts run to the end without skipping through them.
Wow just seen your video for the first time and lost for words how you done it on the floor and how fast you done it as well. The whole vidoe show you how to do it and how easy is it step by step. My transit clutch is going in garage tomorrow and i will be there helping the guy to do it but next time il be doing it on my own with the help of you and your vidoes! Thanks mate
They seem to have fixed every ancillary system to the gearbox here, right angle impact wrench and uj sockets earned their money on that job, top marks sir !
Wow I am relieved trans seated to the engine on the 2016 Ford diesel and your sigh of relief was self evident that the hard lifting part was over. Congrats
Without many words : Very cool ! The camera shows literally everything. Wow ! It’s a pity that you are not in Belgium, I would invite you to carry out a replacement on my car
Can I ask .. did you lower or liftet the engine while installing gear box ? I tried today on my 6 gear ,gear box , but i failed. It was hard to put it in the line and push it forward. I'll try again tmrw :)
Kevin don't go hurting yourself. That gearbox was a two man lift , you are a strong young man, but you don't want to be surfing with back problems later in life . Take care, you are still the master
i dunno how much you quote them for this job but I really hope it was worth it, seems very intensive, taking apart too much with very annoying angles to work.. You have a lot of patience!
As a tech at Ford van centre my hat goes of to you doing this on the floor, Just a suggestion, if you place a scissor jack between the engine and subframe it moves and holds the engine at a nice place for the gearbox not to catch the subframe.
@Stem Artin the recess in the middle of the shaft is for when they're been made and supported at either end. A big 4lb copper mallet knocks them loose without a drift, if you miss the shaft and hit the hub then there isn't any damage.
Good job as always and bit of a bugger about the rest of your footage but these things happen I guess , the stripping down of this van was pretty intensive , but you still sorted it and that box is a monster, what other cars did you do this week , keep going with the excellent job mate
Mate that gearbox was half my size … Really gutted .. had some great footage in some amazing locations. Never mind that was God’s plan for me. But stay tuned for tomorrow’s video. Complete van tour
the relief @41:10 and you just dust off ya hands and role over, get up and carry on... i would of laid there knackered for at least 10 mins, lol, excellent work kevin lad,{ or are you a machine ) BIG THUMBS UP FELLA
Hi Kevin great job... been driving 30 years+ never realised its not good to keep the clutch in for long periods after all this time, until recently lol. I'm one of those that keep the clutch down in heavy trafic rather than into neutral and handbrake even if its go slow for 15 mins and hardly moving... a couple of occasions ive smelt burning and now realise its the clutch caused by my own idiocy. So my Q is, have I been lucky and got away with it once get moving & all cools down .. or have I/ or could I have done damage to the clutch & if so do I need to change it, in which case a 2 piece clutch kit or a 3 ?.... I dont get any crunching of gears and my Transit custom drives flawlessly. This has only happened a couple of times when I'm in severe trafic jams and nothing moves for 10-20 mins bumper to bumper..once moving and its cooled all is well!
Really informative video with great angles. Quick question around this, with a model that has air-con would you remove the pipes to remove the box? Seems like it is very tight for space between the outside of the gearbox and air con pipes
Have you came across the newer vivaro . 1.6 d . Flywheel can go on any way . Bolts lines up every way . You have be careful and mark the tdd mark when taking off
Hello there! bless your work! I am writing from Kazakhstan. Please let me know if there is a mistake in the translation! I have such a car from 2013. What could be the reason why the button does not go all the way back? Please tell me the known reasons?
nice work kevin , have you done a ford kuga yet ? plastic sumps , i might have one to do sometime, supporting the engine might be a pain , any feedback would be great cheers
About 10yrs ago I got asked to have a look at a lads Citroen Dispatch ex-police van (still had cage in back) he had started to have problems getting any gears and I said to him have you recently had the clutch replaced and he said no but not long before he bought it from the police auction their maintenance department had replaced it verified by the logbook service history it had, anyway I went round and had a look at it and low and behold I kid you not out of all the bellhousing bolts it should of had in it there were only the 2 bolts across the top holding the box in and they were halfway out because everytime he depressed the clutch pedal the box was moving away from the engine it was shocking they must have shot the van back together and forgot to tighten them bolts up.
Shocking .. a Mr clutch centre asked me to do a clutch for them as the customer went back on a trailer. Same thing. Only 3 bolts holding the bell housing and all done up by hands. Now I wouldn’t blame the mechanic. But the level of how some garages operate is to keep taking mechanic off the job do something else and come back then get taken off again and they want the job done before end of the day …
Around 10 years ago I spent a good few years as a contractor for greenflag, Britannia rescue etc. I got called out to a citroen picasso 2.0 8 valve hdi. Lady owner told me that it had been to a Gearbox specialist here in north wales for a reconditioned gearbox and it was noisy so she complained about the job and they reluctantly asked her to return it for rectification, but she said they were swearing at her when she took it. They had the vehicle another week and now the gearbox noise had gone, but within around 30 miles it started making horrible noises, that's why she called her breakdown club. I popped my head underneath to find about a 10mm gap between the engine and bell housing, most of the bolts were missing and it was hanging on by a few. She took photographs for evidence and she asked if our garage could sort it because she had just lost faith in them, which we duly did. Tightening a bolt is the most basic of things, and if you cant do that properly then you should not be working on vehicles.
I had same sort of thing with a Pug dealer they were the only dealer willing to do the timing belt on a Peugeot 407 couple 3.0l 24v V6 because they were the only dealer to have the timing tools to do the job, so I booked it in and they said it would take 6hrs for parts and Labour anyway dropped it off on the morning never got phone call that day so rang them next day see how it was going only to be told "we can't keep the tech on just your car" so I said to him well don't think I am paying you for the time he is doing some other jobs when he is supposed to be doing my job I said you quoted me £300 + vat so £300 + vat is all your getting and no more anyway went to pick it up and there were bolts loose that were in plain sight so I dreaded to think what was loose under the timing covers
@@markmawson1 sadly all this happens in the motor trade. I've got out of it. Too many monkeys spoil it for the good ones. Amazing! You can actually teach the cowboys at dealerships how it’s properly done. Keep up the good work mate 👍

Great work ethic, you have amazing skills Kevin, I hope you charge well for your expertise.all the best.
Terminator of the clutch respect and good job 😀
Beast putting that gearbox back like that!

poco trabajo esta semana? excelente trabajo como siempre.
You are a legend mate!
I can say from my own experience, that's a pretty heavy gearbox to lift on your own. How do you bleed the clutch pedal on your own though?
Hello there! bless your work! I am writing from Kazakhstan. Please let me know if there is a mistake in the translation! I have such a car from 2013. What could be the reason why the button does not go all the way back? Please tell me the known reasons?
Possible flywheel fault. Which is affecting the function of the slave cylinder and causing pedal not to full return.
