The HST is the best block for beginners to learn. Bc it's the most versatile block in all of quilting. There's an almost infinite variety of patterns that can be made from the HST. Thanks again for another great and easy-but-looks-hard quilt pattern.
I have collected a LOT of charm packs over the years. One advantage of the Easy Eight method is that as you cut the ten inch square on the horizontal and vertical lines you are, in effect, creating four charm squares, so it is possible to use four charm packs instead of one layer cake pack if that is what you have. I have done this with other MSQC patterns. Hopefully this makes sense. 😉
Many times I will purchase 4 charm packs instead of a layer cake, especially when the layer cake is nit available! I just started watching and it’s amazing just how different the exact same quilt can be just using different fabrics. I immediately thought of a blue layer cake I have waiting in my “to buy” basket right now!
Natalie, you are so creative and gifted. I love how you are growing in front of a camera. I see your Mom's fun personality coming out in you more and more. One day, you will take up the baton easily. Also, love the quilt!!!
Ladies, this was amazing 🥰🥰 Years ago while at a retreat before I knew better, I was cyphering my life away to figure out how to make an "envelope" block not realizing you just rotate the same HST around 🤣🤣 Even some of the ladies there were trying to help me & nobody suggested how to do it!!?? LOL! Boy, do we ever learn over the years!!
I couldn't stop looking at that Birthday Bash Tula Pink rendition! What I noticed is that the border looks like old airmail envelopes. They had that red and blue slanted diamond border. So it is really fitting for the envelope blocks in the quilt. Great job! 🎉
After getting my Bernina it took me FOREVER to not reach back to lift or put down the presser foot…I giggled to see Jenny reach back and find nothing but air just as I did for months! Thank you both for the time you put in to give us these tutorials…Love the quilt Natalie💕
I’m a beginner quilter, I made a rag quilt in a king size with plenty of hangover for my very first one. I should also say that I’m a beginner sewer as well so that rag quilt was my first ever project. I just recently made all the special women in my life quilted hexagon table toppers and used the backing fabric for the binding. I think I’m most intimidated by the binding process so I just bought the binding tool with a couple of jelly rolls. Now my plan is to make a long table topper in the friendship braid pattern using the binding tool and hopefully binding it the right way. I only have 18% heart function so I take a lot of breaks and a ton of naps which I usually spend by binge watching all your tutorials. This half square triangle hack is genius! I’ve went over my budget several times over and will probably have a tough time keeping the lights on for the next several months so I have to wait to get the blokloc template. Those daily deals just draw me in and I usually spend more than I’m supposed to because I don’t want to pay for shipping. The fabrics are just so beautiful and irresistible every time I look at them which is daily because of the daily deal and I share the dad joke in our little family group chat everyday. I can’t wait to make one of these quilts using the half square triangles now that they don’t look nearly as intimidating. Thank you so much for giving me something to look forward to and hopefully I’ll get some Kid of quilt made for each of my 2 kids before this heart of mine just gives out completely. I can’t think of a better gift than to leave my children something to snuggle up with that I’ve made for them and to give them a little comfort like they’re laying in my arms even after I’ve left this earth. Thank you for helping me make a dream come true for my kids, I just love everything you guys do to teach others and give back. Much love and many prayers to you and your families ❤️🙏
These ladies always seem to make the most complicated looking quilt so very easy! One of the many, many reasons why they are my go-to place for quilting everything!!!
I love the slotted trimmer for a few half square triangles in a quilt, but when you are making soooo many half square triangles, the block lock works best for me.
I have a box of teal leftovers, and just received yards of pale green that makes it glow. I decided to make all hst, but don't have a pattern, this is very fancy looking for it! Thank you, Natalie. I love the way hst make so many blocks.
Had to chuckle at Jenny automatically reaching for the lever to raise the presser foot. I do the same thing when I’ve been using my Featherweight at quilt group & then go home to my modern machine. Funny how I never reach for the button when I start using the Featherweight. Lifetime habits don’t change.
I absolutely love half square triangles and use them quite often because they are so versatile. I always make mine larger and trim down because I am a little challenged at sewing my seam line. This spring, at quilt guild, I am doing a program on different ways to make them and different arrangements to make blocks. I will definitely use these, and BLOCK has some great ideas with HST. ❤
Just finished this quilt top with batiks. Oh my, it is beautiful but I didn’t do the border. instead I used those squares to make a floating border top and bottom to make it longer with a smaller border in white. I also cut my 10” into 16s instead of 8 to make the pattern smaller. Thank you for all your advice and great ideas
I love this quilt in the Winners quilt colors. It’s a beautiful quilt. Thanks for the tip Jenny, the boarder should be 4.5” if the outside boarder is 4.5” so it fits. Beautiful job Natalie! 🌸🩷🩷🩷🌸
I think that you two girls are adorable. I can really feel Natalie’s love for her mom, and it just warms my heart! Thank you both for being just right! Pat Berne
Thank you very much for this Tutorial. Missouri Star has wonderful tutorials. The quilt is lovely. Natalie is a wonderful teacher. I love that she says "sew on both sides of both lines". When I was beginning my quilting journey I really could not understand why demonstrators would say "sew on Either side of the line" when they really meant "sew on Both sides of the line". In UK either would mean to sew on either the Left or on the Right of the line - not to sew on both sides of the line. It took me a little while to realise that either must have a very different meaning in America to in the UK.
Hi Natalie. Over the past year or so, I have watched you really come into your own on the show, You are so creative and talented. I really enjoy watching you making your mark on MSQC, You go girl!
I love quilt patterns that are easy sewing but make a beautiful layout. It makes piecing so much Moore relaxing and don't get me started on the huge difference in uncomplicated cutting.! Thank you.
This would make a great Christmas quilt I could see the stars being red and the diamonds being green, or vice versa. The outer border would look like a candy cane border if it was done the same way it is in the tutorial. Then the inner border could be green. Those colors would look amazing either either a white or cream background. This quilt is stunning!❤
Natalie is my favorite to watch in the tutorials - she always has various ways of sewing techniques and also has so many great suggestions to inspire all levels of quilters ❤❤❤
This is gorgeous! I’m new to quilting and this looks so complex! But I love how it’s all made from same basic HSTs. You mentioned this layer cake set had an even amount of lights and darks. I’d love to find some other layer cake sets that would work as well.
Natalie, You look amazing. What a transformation. You are Beautiful !! And agree need more of You as well as your Mom doing Mom/Daughter tutorials. Triple play good also.
This might be my new favorite quilt! It's gorgeous in the Tula Pink Fabrics but, oh, my! In the reds! Be still my heart! Ladies, you are a wonderful gift to us, not just for what you do but for who you are.
What a GORGEOUS quilt!! And who knew those sneaky half square triangles would be so much fun!! I was watching Natalie watching Jenny sewing and I was wondering if that’s how it started all those years ago!! Have a wonderful weekend everyone and happy quilting!! 🧵⭐️🫶🏻
I bought 2 packs of the Heirloom red but I did NOT get equal amounts of light and dark. 😢 I only got 18 light squares in each pack of 10” squares, so I’ve had to purchase quite a bit more fabric. I’m hoping when the quilt is done it will be worth it. Love the pattern!
So nice to see you work together. What a simple design but with an intricate look. Thank you for sharing something that happened at birthday bash for those of us who cannot go in person.
Beautiful quilt..hey if you’re interested in trying new machines out…Pfaff with their integrated walking foot is AMAZING…very precise, you can match plaid’s effortlessly..lol with out even guiding your material..yes that amazing, it’s heavy duty sews, with speed and accuracy and as far as mine goes…it’s super NOT Glitchy. 🥳oh yeah and it’s super smooth sounding too just a small mechanical noise with cutting, also the TENSION is automatic
Natalie, this is a lovely quilt. I’m thinking black-and-white would look absolutely adorable on my bed one project I have not done yet is a black-and-white quilt. I think this is it. Thank you so so much. You do a great job especially with your mama. I love that woman she is awesome has taught me a lot Like you were in her footsteps thank you both. Enjoy the wonderful days out there
Natalie you look so happy teaching us this lovely quilt! Thank you for making it look so easy! These Red and white fabrics are stunning for this layout.😊
Love the red and white quilt . It is beautiful. The manipulation of the half square triangle blocks to create the quilt is amazing. I am trying to stay true to my commitment to use the fabrics I have and not purchase new fabric - unless it's necessary. This is strongly tempting me!!!
This quilt is beautiful. But . . . You guys said you didn’t do a sew-off in Sept of ‘23! And that was after I had looked all over TH-cam for it! I remember commenting how disappointed I was bc that was my favorite thing! So where is it? I’d still like to see it. Thx.
I'm about to start a quilt for my grandnephew that is construction themed. I'm going to do a diagonal striped border in black and yellow so it looks like caution tape!
I love this quilt in both fabric choices! It looks complicated, but Natalie and Jenny make it so easy! I can't wait to try making it with some of the many layer cakes I have been binge buying from MSQC. Just can't resist those daily deals! 💞💞💞
Love, love, love this one. Well, I love all of them! But I love the red and white. But I love the Birthday Bash one too. Oh another one to add to my list. Oh! I have a blue and orange set of fat quarters that would look beautiful in this one! You girls are great! Thank you!
Oh I think this is my favorite quilt I have seen you guys make and after years of being a fan girl and watching countless videos, that says a lot. I will do this by the end of the month for sure. Love it!! Thank you for sharing this absolute stunner.
Good morning lovely ladies, i am not usually one for higglty pigglty, as in colours, but the birthday quilt is fun looking and great in my view for childrens beds, with all it's bright colours in it. I LOVE the reds quilt, but that could have something to do with it being my favourite colour( like a pair of red shoes, a must have), but the quilt is gorgeous done in the red's and creams/ivories. Thank you ladies for yet another fantastic inspired sewing day. Crafty hugs from Norah, Glenochil, Central Scotland
I love both quilts, but that red just speaks to me, my favorite color.
The HST is the best block for beginners to learn. Bc it's the most versatile block in all of quilting. There's an almost infinite variety of patterns that can be made from the HST. Thanks again for another great and easy-but-looks-hard quilt pattern.
Great advice. I didn’t realize this.
I love it when Natalie is on. She is so talented. Need more Natalie tutorials😊
I agree. 💯 percent. I enjoy her cheerful attitude and how Natalie and Jenny work/think together.
Jenny is too young and happy to retire...and too admired to need a substitution.
it's her show and she is needed here
At first glance, the quilt looks complicated. Then POOF.🎉🎉🎉 Easy-peasy😊. Beautiful and so dramatic. 🎶💐💖
I have collected a LOT of charm packs over the years. Yes. I have charm pack and layer cake of the same fabric and I wondered if I would get the same sized block when I tried this.
Great info. Thanks 👍
Great info, thanks for mentioning this 👍
so you would need 8 charm packs for this quilt since they said they used two layer cakes
Natalie, you are so creative and gifted. I love how you are growing in front of a camera. I see your Mom's fun personality coming out in you more and more. One day, you will take up the baton easily. Also, love the quilt!!!
Another A+++ from the BEST Mother/Daughter duo in quilting!!! You Ladies rock - luv, luv, luv.....YOU and the quilt 🥰

Which Tula Pink layer cake was used in this quilt?
I need the😊 pattern for this quilt
@@phylliswiebe8155 Natalie's said Tula basics. Looks like True Colors and Tiny Beasts kind of mixed up?
After getting my Bernina it took me FOREVER to not reach back to lift or put down the presser foot…I giggled to see Jenny reach back and find nothing but air just as I did for months! Thank you both for the time you put in to give us these tutorials…Love the quilt Natalie💕
Love Natalie and Jenny’s tutorials. Thanks so much Again.
I love the red work look to it. Looks kind of Valentine Day-ish also.

Great to watch Natalie and Jenny together. Great blocks and quilt made with the simple HST.👏♥️🇦🇺
Love the easy 8! Beautiful fabric, thank you ladies!
I like the Tucker Trimmer and square up on the stitch line before I press open
Hi Natalie. Over the past year or so, I have watched you really come into your own on the show, You are so creative and talented. I really enjoy watching you making your mark on MSQC, You go girl!
Have you three ladies ever made a tutorial using the exact same pattern each choosing their own fabric? If not, that would be another great one.
the red and white quilt is so beautiful.
I love quilt patterns that are easy sewing but make a beautiful layout. It makes piecing so much Moore relaxing and don't get me started on the huge difference in uncomplicated cutting.! Thank you.

Natalie, your quilts always amazing. Love all the tutorials that you, Jenny & Misty put together on triple play for all of us. Thanks for sharing.
I'm a Tula fanatic so the Tula quilt I absolutely love! I do believe I'll be watching this video a billion times!!
I always press the 10” square after sewing along the lines, before cutting apart. It sets all the seams at once.
All half square triangles but looks so complicated. Love the red and white. Blue and white would be nice too. Thank you MSQC.
Natalie is my favorite to watch in the tutorials - she always has various ways of sewing techniques and also has so many great suggestions to inspire all levels of quilters ❤❤❤

Thank you, Natalie for another wonderful quilt. So fun for you and your Mom to do this video. Love you and your quilts.
What a beautiful quilt - looked a lot more complicates than it was - a total stunner. Would look great in hallowen fabric

Fabulous quilt and tutorial! Thank you ladies! I love the colorful give-away quilt, too! Y’all make everything fun!
Love this quilt!
Great mom and DD quilt demo. I like that the whole quilt is done in HSTs. Add a border and viola...an awesome quilt. Thanks Natalie and Jenny.

I love the two-tone quilt. LOVE that is my new quilt idea. SO only two packages of 10 - you could do a tone on tone back
Wow! This looks so complicated but it's all HSTs!
Natalie, you are looking FANTASTIC! Healthy, vibrant, and GORGEOUS! ❤
I love half square triangle because you can do so much with them. Love this quilt in both color layouts. On my to do list.
I hadn't thought of warm and cool contrasts. Wow! Gotta try that one.
Liiiinda Natalie.... mas encima es muy simpática
I love the red one. ❤❤❤
Thank you for the quick tutorial Natalie and Jenny on making a beautiful quilt.
As always, you knocked this one out of the park.😊😊 Thanks!
Natalie, this is a lovely quilt. I’m thinking black-and-white would look absolutely adorable on my bed one project I have not done yet is a black-and-white quilt. I think this is it. Still looking amazing, ladies 😍
That Tula just made my day. These both are fabulous.
Loved this tutorial! The reds are beautiful!
Love the red and white quilt . It is beautiful. The manipulation of the half square triangle blocks to create the quilt is amazing. I am trying to stay true to my commitment to use the fabrics I have and not purchase new fabric - unless it's necessary. This is strongly tempting me!!!
I LOVE it in the red and white for Valentine's Day! That fabric is gorgeous! 😍

Thank you ❤ 9:36
Two beautiful quilts and another great fun quilt tutorial. Thank you!
I love the red and white it makes it so elegant
Such a great color combo for this quilt, right?!😍
This quilt is beautiful.
But . .
Thank you for the new ways to do blocks. Love watching mom and daughter. I miss my mom, she taught me to sew.
🤗🤗❤
I love this quilt in both fabric choices! It looks complicated, but Natalie and Jenny make it so easy! I can't wait to try making it with some of the many layer cakes I have been binge buying from MSQC. Just can't resist those daily deals! 💞💞💞
I have been looking for a nice red collection forever! Yeah Riley Blake
Love it! Natalie you are amazing. Well done.
I promised myself I wouldn’t start another quilt! This is gorgeous!!! 🤦🏼♀️💛
I will admit, I was surprised. Who'd have thought 1/2 square triangles were so versatile!
This is great!! I can't decide on which color wave I like best! I need to make one of each.
It may be that I am biased because I adore red and white quilts and they are my absolute favorite but I just have to make this one. I think the fabric line choice was super too! This fabric collection is just gorgeous. I really like that the layer cake already has light and dark so it makes it the perfect choice. I just think this quilt is wonderful. I will do this by the end of the month for sure. Love it!! Thank you for sharing this absolute stunner.
Just beautiful! Great job!
I love love love this quilt!
Love this quilt. I went a little cray and bought so many layer cakes. Think this one pattern will be great for at least one of them. Many thanks!
That is the coolest quilt ever! It will be on my to do list
Absolutely ingenious quilt.
