Wow i would love to watch this in real time! Chickadees are one of my favorites they are such fearless tiny things. They have actually landed next to me to remind me their feeder was empty. One will land on my hand for sunflower seeds 💖i often find myself answering their calls mindlessly. Your painting captures them perfectly
Thanks! Real time goes by pretty slowly. I think this was in the neighborhood of 12 hours of work. While it is fun to do for me, I'm not sure that watching it would be that much fun. The opening washes are pretty fast paced, but that is about it. Chickadees are seemingly fearless, cute and adventurous, which makes for a fun combination with that tiny size.
I think I love this one the most, but is so hard as all your work is exquisitely beautiful. The soft pastel shades within the snow ❄️ just seem to give it a magical quality, especially for someone whose never seen it before. Thank you for sharing this with us ❤️
@@bohanart you certainly have captured the subtle colours well and it gives a it wonderfully magical quality. Definitely would love to see snow once in my life, maybe one day. In the meantime I can certainly enjoy your beautiful rendition of it. Thanks 😊
I live in Wisconsin , and very seldom see someone MASH off the bird. I tried doing this ,paid quite a bit for a small bottle, but the colors bleed through. Maybe because I started to paint a bit of the bird before I masked off. YES, I love the Chickadee. They grab one seed and fly off. House sparrow and starling sit and dine. I have not done the Chickadee yet. I am finishing up the white crowned sparrows soon to arrive, the Junco's are here. However, I have not been so quick to feed much, because hoping the starlings will leave. The house sparrow empty a feeder quickly so I try to put here and there seeds. Finished doing the Bohemian Waxwings. Just found your POD CAST.
Masking fluid is definitely pricey. I always apply to bone dry paper that hasn't had any paint applied to it. With that approach I've not had any issues with bleed through, provided I've covered everything carefully. I also tend to apply a double coat to large flat areas. Most often I use Grafix White Mask Liquid Frisket, but will also use Utrecht Watercolor Masking Fluid. Those both work well. Some of the masking fluids come with a tiny to help ensure that you have perfect coverage which can be helpful. I always try to get the friket off the page within a day (preferably after a few hours) because they slightly tint the paper.
Great job!! I love the Chickadees and love to paint them...will show you after I get one done...thanks for the nice lesson!!
Have fun. I hope it turns out great.
The cutest Chickadee in watercolor. Thank you so much.
Thanks! What a compliment!!!
So glad you love the beauty of winter, I love the snow. That s a gorgeous pinting.
Thanks! Winters can be long, but lots of beauty if you get out to enjoy it!
Beautiful painting, well executed.
Thanks! Snowy days like that sure are beautiful.

Thanks so much. I always love seeing snow clinging to branches. The white of the snow takes on all sorts of reflected sky colors and is very beautiful

Thanks!
chickadees are the best
So true. Too cute and a "bigger -than-life" attitude.

Amazing ❤️👍🏻Thank you for sharing God Bless you 💕
Thank you! Today we have a similar snowfall so I took plenty of photos for another painting.
Both the background and the bird are beautiful!
I would have lost myself doing the patterns of the background :o Well done!
Thanks... that background was a load of fun!
Beautiful balance, stay safe
Thanks, Beverly!
