Boiler, haha, classic! You need bragging rights at school especially with the chopsy sixth formers. Get your head down and bolt it, don’t wait around. Great park run Tim, fair play, you’re flying. Next time the youngster comes down for tea ask him to ask Jordan if you can borrow a left handed wrench😂
Hi Tim, I think I watched this video last week then forgot to comment (I always comment😊). You’re streets ahead of me around 18 minutes and 7th💪 My best is 23:31 but I’m struggling with PF this year so cut my mileage back by 75%😢Anyway, keep performing in your events and entertaining us (loved the boiler joke😂).
@@middleagedrunningman Thanks Tim, I’ve been given a place at the Mid Cheshire 5K this Friday evening, I’m wondering how I’ll perform given the lack of running in my training schedule (now swim/gym/bike/Parkrun)🤔
Back on absolute top notch MARM banter, first 5 mins your best ever. Sorta goes downhill a bit at the six and a half minute mark for 30 seconds, but hey ho. They do reckon it’s a bit long by 100 metres or so, so take heart, you’ll do it one of the next two weeks.
Hahahahaha.... Walsall taking a battering! Best Parkrun in the area and it's actually quite picturesque! You'd be surprised, and it's very fast. Quality as always.
Great running, Tim! Still a mighty time. The boiler joke should be sponsored by Specsavers as I saw it coming a mile off yet still thoroughly enjoyed it 😂 best of luck for Solihull HM tomorrow. I even pronounced that Soleyhull in my head in your honour!
Got the same time this week at arrow valley. We'll get there marm! Also saw the comments on strava about Walsall and you summed up what I was thinking about that 😅
The line that you ran at the start of the race @ 7:30 through the gap used to be the way we went, but they put those metal railings in there about 10 months ago and we were told to run via the wide path to save runners clustering on BOTH laps which can also get very muddy. I usually cut across the grass as it made the course about 20 metres longer and it was already a bit long even before that. That yellow barrier @ 8:16 wasn't always there either, which meant you could take a natural path down the middle instead of losing momentum to run around it. They put it there before parkrun was held there to prevent people from driving their cars in and parking them down the bank.
Pr*cks like you marked my maths GCSE. Which is why I got an E and which is why I now lay cones in rows on motorways which is why my wife isn’t the best looking and which is why she left me. One mistake. Jesus. 😂😂
Hate to say it but Walsall might be a good shout for a go at the sub 18. Might catch you at Solihull half, I’m having a super slow plod tomorrow to get some miles in for Great North.
I set my Parkrun PB at Warwick today. There’s a small hill and a switchback so it’s not ideal. Think I’ll head down to Stratford and have to suffer the irritating tourists for just one day in order to beat 20mins - will it be worth it? Tempting to suggest you must give the old boiler an annual service but you know I’m better than that!
Top-notch banter, as always! As a female member of the Marmy Army, I would like to know if females members are called Marmettes, Marmaids (sic!) or Marmites. Clarification would be greatly appreciated 😊.
Fascinated by this comment Joanna. I think you would have to make that decision. I really like both Marmettes and Mermaids - but for fear of being cancelled, I think someone else has to make the call.
@@middleagedrunningman You got me here! What's meant to be just a simple matter of choosing a suffix has now become a topic of not only political significance, but even more so, a moral conundrum. I'm going with Marmette as it's got a nice ring to it.
My parkrun PB was done at Stratford upon Avon parkrun, probably because it’s completely flat 😅Also enjoyed Walsall Arboretum parkrun although only ever done that once.
I liked east park. And if you park in the park you can't leave until parkrun is over so you are 'forced' to go across the road for breakfast. Its one I'll do again definitely. The only time my result has come through before I've left the venue! I would defo park in the park though as some of the surrounding roads didn't look the best.
If you just wanted a sub 18 parkrun, and not worried about accuracy, Pegwell Bay would be worth a look, its notoriously short and would knock 30 - 40secs off your time
I've just realised that if you were to be more correctly called 'sarcastic middle aged running man' we would all be members of the SMARMY Army. What d'you think?
I learned 2 things yesterday.. A.. Never run 9 miles day after a stomach bug and B.. my garmin (Gladys) knew I was ill before I did.. Big orange stress score with dire warnings.. About 1 hour before my stomach exploded 😮.. I am now watching stress scores like a gambler incase I am ill and haven't realised 🙀
Tim telling all the sixth form students about how they keep putting 10k runners out for the last 2 miles while they are just pleased to have finished the race will be a strange sight.
Stratford on avon is as quick as walsall in my opinion. The arboretum is surprisingly nice given its walsall but it's probably not worth the trip with Stratford being closer.
Has anyone ever pointed out you have a mild superpower? When you were warming up you had a faint beard, then when you started running it thickened and darkened in anger, then it shrank back again once you were in the car. Maybe it's not Wolverine, but it still counts
You definitely have the ability to go sub 18 but pacing is key to having the ability to achieve it... 5.47 per mile.. 😊👍 not max HR from the "GO" 😂 I started too quickly at parkrun this morning and blew by 2 miles 😂😂
"To be honest, I'm sure that they'll have a great time" - cracking ending to a Marm video :D Classic.

I don't think beacon is much slower and stratford similarly. Walsall definitely attracts faster runners, it has a name for itself.

Although, liking the sound of this Beacon place....
@middleagedrunningman Lichfield. 2 laps while walsall is 3. More of a patkrun vibe whilst walsall feels like a race!
