  • This documentary features four women who share their experiences about being homeless in Portland, Oregon. Melanie, Carla, Jewell, and Jude are in different places in their journeys through homelessness.
Melanie has recently become homeless and is living out of her car with her dog, Zoe. Carla is struggling with health issues as she lives at a shelter in the city. She became homeless when her partner left her in the apartment that they shared, and Carla was unable to pay the rent. Jewell, a mother and grandmother, talks about what it means to be homeless and the housing insecurity that she has dealt with for most of her life. She shares about the obstacles she faces in finding a job and permanent housing after she received a felony for attempting to protect herself in an abusive relationship. Jude offers a powerful reflection on the severe risks that women face on the streets, and how her journey through homelessness has been a blessing.
Together, Melanie, Carla, Jewell, and Jude inspire viewers to consider more deeply the issue of homelessness, and to see the dignity, wisdom, and beauty of those who do not have a home.
Much of the movie was shot at Catholic Charities' Housing Transitions Program. The women of Housing Transitions Program were incredible collaborators and supporters of the film during its production.
