Would make a great resort hotel. There's a Ballroom and plenty of room for a pool and tennis courts and even a Conservatory for an Indoor Pool and garden. Whatever.
Yeah there's a lot of birds nesting so there was a few near misses or I would've flew in closer. Maybe try and get inside to scare them away first as the building are really cool.
@@scotlandfromabove2023 I hear you mate, some places get me too twitchy ( pardon the pun 😆 ) from the amount of birds - I got hit from behind by an angry buzzard once, I was lucky to get my kit back and it only had a broken arm and motor so not too bad thankfully
@Land of Saints FPV I've seen a lot of buzzards that I've thought about filming but I'm not ready to risk losing the drone by using it as a peace of prey. Footage would be good tho 😂
@@scotlandfromabove2023 😅 I hear you mate! Imagine the audio too of it grabbing your quad and the wind rushing past as you plummet towards the ground! 😂
Was this a purpose built hospital or is it as it looks, a converted Victorian country pile? Would be fantastic for a number of uses. If money were no object, I personally would turn it into a large luxurious heritage country home & parklands for myself; but dreams are free and fantasies cost extra - a lot extra...!!! 😂😂😂 How much land is attached to the property? Was this a psychiatric hospital or a general hospital of its day? Is it listed?
Yes this was a psychiatric hospital which opened in 1895 and started to close in 1995. It was the largest asylum in Europe and had everything on the grounds, their own farm, gardens, cemetery, railway line, staff accommodation, power plant and reservoir. It was also one of the most crowded with 2,500 patients! The building is category C listed. There has been a lot knocked down but I think those were just small buildings.
@@scotlandfromabove2023 Thanks for getting back to me. I didn't expect to get a reply so soon. It would truly be an amazing project to restore & renovate into something useful once again. The grounds alone, could become something truly spectacular; I've a gardening fetish....😂😂 Why did it close? The buildings seem sturdy enough but perhaps the style was deemed a bit austere for the purposes of modern psychiatry.
@Pink Elephants I try and reply to everyone. You've taken the time to ask a question about my video so I'll try and answer. Hartwood Hospital began closure in 1995 as a result of the Community Care Act 1990, which resulted in the closure of many Victorian institutions as a more community-focused treatment for mental health care was introduced. The land could be used like a lovely walk with the gardens done up. Tidy the buildings up and make safe enough as a tourist attraction on the history of the local asylums.

Roof caves in, all hell breaks loose
Thats it as soon as the roofs off nature starts to reclaim the land. Check out my video of Buchanan Castle, that's truly been taken back by nature 👀
Fantastic place to fly. Great footage 👏 👍 👌
Just seen this sorry, thankyou 🙏🏼 I need to go back and film the explore of this one. Plus I'll fly it again 😁🏴

Горечь и тоска от такой разрушенной красоты.
