When Aldo Showed He Was Still Elite

- In 2017 the legendary José Aldo lost his UFC Featherweight title to Max Holloway, and loss in the rematch later that year also. Some believed that Aldo's run at the top was over and a sharp decline was evident. But in 2018 Aldo would defeat a surging contender in Jeremy Stephens with a spectacular hook to the body that would eventually lead to a TKO. Aldo showed plenty of emotion after the finish and said it was due to his difficult 2017. But he credited his team and family during the postfight press conference for helping him bounce back and win. #ufc #josealdo #shorts

Glad you highlighted this win. People forget Aldo was an underdog going in here. People thought he was done.
Dude he fought Jeremy Stephen’s stop it lol
@@magneticgray5.03Stephens was a solid fighter and a hard puncher
@@srr3097 yes I agree. But that’s doesn’t make him a top fighter. That power will only get u so far.
Before Aldo loss, he beat Gilbert Melendez who was on a 3 fight losing streak before fighting Jeremy. Lost to pettis for the title (don’t know how he got a title shot off beating Diego Sanchez), lost to Eddie Alvarez who wasn’t even good enough to stay in the ufc for long, and lost to Edson who is a gatekeeper of the sport then he fought Jeremy and lost.
Beat Doo ho Choi who wasn’t even ranked and his 3 wins in the ufc were against nobodies then went on a 4 fight losing streak.
His only notable recent win was against Josh Emmett, and even Josh can’t break in to the top 5 in that division.
After loss to aldo, Jeremy went on a 5 fight losing streak and got cut from the ufc and went to boxing and lost miserably there also, and once again by Jose Aldo and idk how many other guys. Maybe 1 or 2. I don’t really follow that silly boxing stuff with the TH-camrs and celebrity boxing stuff.
So again, he fought Jeremy Stephen’s, stop it lol.
Besides Emmett, who are some top guys Jeremy beat? All the top guys he fought he lost to.
@@magneticgray5.03You can do a breakdown like that for almost every fighter and come to the conclusion that they're overrated
@@TheTruthTalker_Facts, this dude is just a hater and a loser
People forget how long aldo has been around. Hes been top 5 for 15 years.
İ got lots of respect for aldo, he was champ for a loong…long time.
And became top 5 in a new division at the end of his career
@@edibaber5525yeah bro almost made a run for a belt about 6-7 years after losing his belt
And I think he's the last F.W champ in WEC before UFC bought it (WEC). Then he held/defend his belt for couple of years which I think is the most in thw F.W division in the UFC.
You mean number 1 for 6 years as well
Merab didn't take Aldo down ONCE
What a win for Aldo tbf
Merab fought like a clown that fight lol couldn’t even give a legend a good last fight
Merab is probably the worst grappling in mma the only thing that keeps him up is his pressure and cardio
@@windytv7511 aldo couldn’t win ?
mma is super highly biased towards the grappler if you fail takedowns over and over again they still see it as the guy winning and give zero credit for td defence so it doesnt matter what aldo did
Aldo is vintage. Unquestionably one of the goats
Goat??? 💀 So losing your belt and never touching another one again after being flattened in 13 seconds is a goat?? Yeah okay 8 losses to 😂

Yes, but when he joined Robert garcia's camp after the mcgregor fight, his boxing got even better. That is what has really enabled his technique to improve. Robert trains nothing but gladiators. Jose had to come correct in that gym.@@lefthook95

Aldo is right up there w GSP in terms of classiness. Always humble and respectful
I really believe Aldo was terrified before every fight he ever fought. The way he would react after every fight win or lose was the proof of this. There will never be another fighter quite as humble and genuine as Jose Aldo Jr. Truly one of a kind
He got knocked stiff in 13 seconds cry bozo 😭

@@jstin6And he has a more impressive record than McGregor.
Idk if it was fear, or self belief/doubt. But I agree, you could tell something was going on there pre fight!!
GSP said he was terrified before every fight, Nick/Nate Diaz often talk about not liking fighting. The best aren’t the ones that aren’t scared, it’s the ones that conquer it :)
He dominates his weight class for so long but never trash talk nobody, always humble n thats why he is the goat for so many people
He retaliate Connor's shenanigans tho.
It's incredibly sad how under appreciated Jose Aldo is!! What he did will never be done again, ever.
How can you say this?!? He was UFC champion for 5-6 years! Rated NUMBER 1 for these years? How is that UNDERrated?

I just was thinking about that the other day lol
Which one ? 😂
I saw it live! In Calgary, AB, Canada. The crowd went NUTS. His walkout was so hype as well. I was pleased to see how much love he got on his walkout
Aldo was SO BAD...held his legacy forever as a champ and as a contender absolute legend. In WEC he was so dangerous. I miss those leg kicks...he stopped using them in his late career I wonder if he was injured
The thing about Aldo too is that for what he accomplished he really wasn’t even into martial arts until pretty late in life compared to most of the folks he ended up competing against at the top level. It takes a special athlete to do that. I remember always hearing he had a legit shot to dedicate to a professional soccer career if he went that route.
Still one of my favorites. Man reigned as champ for over a decade.
I was STUNNED when this happened. I thought Aldo was old news after those losses. I love Stephens and how violent he fights. I thought he was gonna put Aldo down. I was fuckin wrong and after that I had to put respect on Aldo’s name. You’re a LEGEND and I apologize for doubting u 🙏🏽
Aldo is a legend. WEC days were incredible!👊💯
Jose Aldo will always be a legend in my book!
It’s so insane that Jose went down in weight and was still great truly a very talented man
I love aldo hes just such a good dude. Humble hard working and never disrespectful.
Glad he won man ppl forget how lethal he was true warrior of the sport!!
Aldo is an underrated legend 🙌🏾
Aldo will always be one of the mma goats
Jose is a legend, true warrior
Always liked watching Aldo fight
Stephens thought he was built like max going to war with Aldo 😂
Connor Aldo rematch. That's a super fight he could back with if Aldo can keep looking elite
Connor wouldn’t take it
Aldo most definitely deserves a rematch.
My 2cents.
Conor got in his head 1st Match and got aldo off centered.
If Aldo is centered than he makes light work of conor.
Conor won fair and square I will say but he’s not nearly as talented as Aldo
Conor is more of a WWE gimmick type of guy
Huge Connor fan but Aldo def deserved a rematch would've been way more competitive I believe.
didn't aldo already retire?
Huge weight gap atp
Aldo is a legend.
Aldo is such a stud! One of the greatest to ever do it. There is a great video about how he skillfully negates the low kick that has become a primary weapon of so many fighters in the last 3-4 years. Prime Aldo would have starched Max imo.
Every fighter will loose one day if he/she stays long enough…. At the end what matters is their history, their legacy. Aldo is the GOAT of featherweight
I get annoyed if a fighter never loses 😅
It makes me think the competition just all sucks in comparison.
Never underestimate the heart of a champion
ONE OF THE GREATEST
JOSE ALDO IS REAL LEGEND
Never underestimate a man who held the belt for nearly a decade
The disrespect this legend was getting during the McGregor era was so sad
Also was one of the hardest men the world has ever seen. Real killer.
Which makes what Conor did to him even more incredible.
Respect to Aldo. A real pro
One of the greatest ever
that body shot was wicked
That body shot was soooo clean
LEGEND! SUPER CONSISTENT!
What a legend
Aldo a true legend
Aldo was a beast during his prime. Even the greatest warrior suffer a beatdown on the dawn of their career. Still they are legends and the best of their time. Respect to this people.
Jose Aldo is not just some guy he's been one of the greatest featherweights in the game for so long
That liver shot ouch i felt it
Isnt that the "who da fuq is that guy" guy?
One of the greatest pure martial artists to do it. People forget. Best in the division ever.
Such a beautiful soul. This guy is a big reason I love the sport
Jose Aldo one of the all time great mma fighter.
He was the only reason I used to watch WCW he is a true Warrior knowing that he takes it to the heart. This is his life of course he's gonna cry and show his emotions. Because that's what he puts into it all his emotion
Who da fook is dat guy?
i was just about to comment that 😭😴
Me the hardest hitter in the Featherweight division 😂

Aldo is a beast. People talk about some fighters today as if they were legends, when they don't stay on the top for more than a couple of years. Aldo defended his belt for over 10 years. Stayed on the top for 15 years.
proud of this guy. even when I lost a lot of money rooting and betting for Aldo when he fought Connor, he still remains my favorite fighter.
People forget Aldo was undefeated for over a decade before he fought mcgregor. The man is a warrior.
I’m no big Jeremy stephens fan but I always respect what he brings to fights. You need guys like him that will bring this out of people.
No one will match the history record of Jose Aldo . His a legend for the ufc
A lot of people still don't give a aldo the respect he's earned. I mean the man literally went on a stint where he didn't lose a fight for nearly a decade. In this sport, that is literally unheard of
Bro was a monster for undefeated for 10 years, crazy how small mistakes makes everybody forget who You Are
This is one of Brazil's legends 🇧🇷
I think ppl need to highlight how Aldo is one of the few who figured out and countered the calf kick meta, figuereido did too btw but also was the first it was so clean and easy and simple
Aldo is a beast, even when he was no longer at his best the guy only lost against champions, he himself took care of erasing the rest from the division.
Undoubtedly one of the GOATs of the sport, King Of Rio💯💯
Aldo lost his prime but he never stop to bee elite until his las fight . He was always and elite fighter. The legend Jose Aldo jr
I remember watching this in the hospital. One of the best body shots in ufc
One of the all time greats
There was a span of at least half-a-decade during which jose Aldo was a mythical creature in the Octagon. Then the toll of years, inevitable sport progression, and Mystic Mac showed up - all at the same damn time. #AldoLegend
I miss Aldo man
Still one of my fav fighters ever his prime was elite
Homie looked like he literally shit himself 😂
Jose said "who da fook is that guy?"
Never disrespect the king of Brazil , Jose Aldo will always be the OG super star of UFC.
Prime Aldo was a savage!!!🙏🙏🙏
Aldo should always be in GOAT consideration, not only for the period of his dominance, but also for him proving he still got this even in toughest divisions. Not many can make comebacks
Aldo was fucking terrifying in his prime
He is one of the greatest of all times
Aldo never lacked heart and grit
One of the most beautiful liver shots
I remember that fight, and how amazing both consecutive body shots were. Master!

@udaypratap-fh4yr personally i think Volkanovski is the featherweight goat, but im biased since i am australian, but i can respect putting hose aldo above him
@@the_fake_fool2081 for sure Volk is better than aldo but he has lot to prove!
