You know, I watched an episode of Dr. Phil maybe two decades ago. Robin McGraw said "I believe sugar is a poison," and I thought, "nonsense"! Two decades and over a hundred pounds later, I realized she was absolutely right. I stopped eating sugar and drastically reduced carbs several months ago, and now... I have lost 25lbs and I can sleep again. My psoriasis is in remission. It will be a slow road to full health, but I am committed to it. I should have listened to Robin years ago! The arrogance of youth! (I am in my 50s now. Prior to giving up sugar and reducing carbs, I felt I had no future.)

After you've eaten healthy food (basic foods like vegetables, fruits, complex starches like rice/potatoes, non-processed meats and fish, whole grain/seeded breads, dairy products with no additives) your taste changes. If you try eating fast food after your tastes shifts, you will be disgusted at how it tastes and it may make you sick. Retrain your tastes to like fresh foods. It doesn't take that long, just a few weeks, and you will find cravings dropping away.

It is so addictive, I was shocked at how difficult it was to remove all sugar from my diet. You can replace sugar with a little stevia or xylitol or allulose because it does not effect blood sugar levels but beware that it can trigger sugar cravings for some.

However the FDA is part of the government machine that bows to the big manufactors who produce the altered foods that are engineered to be more addictive. We the voters and taxpayers have very little influence or control over the laws that govern the FDA. Big pharm loves that obesity is the number one disease in children and adults. More profit for them as demonstrated by the shortage of the semiglutides that are being prescribed for weight loss rather than for treatment of DM type 2. We cannot trust the FDA to provide safe foods. We as consumers must make the choice not to eat or drink the altered foods that support the addiction.

I'm lucky, I always hated sugar. I feel ill when I eat sugar. My grandma tried to force me to eat her cakes, pies, cookies, when I was 10 I told her I would slap the wrinkles off her face if she didn't back off. My dad beat me for talking to his mama like that. But from that day forward no one else ever offered me junk food. Can't stand soda either. I'm 67, healthy, no meds, we have a 4 year old and a daughter on the way.

All that fast food is served on a bun made from white flour. Don't be deceived by products that try to make you think that they're healthy because they say "whole grain." You crave carbs because you eat carbs. This video is a great beginning.

It’s not bad to have a donut here and there, especially if it fits in your eating window or fits into your Lifestyle. Still, people should be prioritizing more Whole Foods, especially Meat, Eggs, Raw Dairy (if you can tolerate it) Some Organic Fruits & Vegetables, minimal to no Grains, if you want Bread, seek out Sourdough with minimal ingredients or make your own. Cook with Animal Fats only, no Seed Oils.

I had a neighbor friend who would come over to my house and start eating candy and cookies and whatever she could get her hands on in my cabinet. She would literally shove food down her throat as fast as she could for 10-15 minutes. She would bake cakes and eat a piece then throw them away. Then pull them out of the trash to eat it. She started to spit on it so she wouldn't pull it out of the trash. That didn't work so she had to spray it with cleaner. If you have an addictive personality, you can most definitely get addicted to sugar.
