@@machoboy95 I was going to say that. All you need to learn is on this channel. Initial investment on tools and products might seem high at first but you wont go back to the car wash so you will save on the long run and maintenance is not that hard, then you will only need to wax or seal a few times a year. Just make sure you have the WHOLE day to do it the first time, play great music and order chicken wings for lunch. Additional plus: its a great workout!

Quick tip: After polishing a section, do a quick wipe with IPA to remove any fillers that might be in the polish, hiding remaining scratches/swirls. Many polishes claim to have no fillers, but you’d be surprised how many really do!

I bought a pair of Rag Company Cyclone wash mitts. Had been using a Chemical Guys Chenille
The New Cyclone mitts convinced me of the one bucket multiple mitts wash method.
Unfortunately my wash area is full of trees and the cyclone mitts somehow picked up leaf shreds like magnets and even using a grit guard wash board, I couldn't get them off. Plus they hide down in the fibers of the mitt.
In the end, I don't think buying a bunch of $7 chenille wash mitts will be that much more expensive than a 2 bucket wash.
Figure $8-$10 for a second bucket. $15-$20 for a couple of grit guards (don't need a grit guard if you never put a used mitt back in your water. That's $23-$30 extra you are spending for the 2 bucket method.
If you go the multi-mitt method, maybe you use 1 mitt for the roof and windshield, 1 mitt for the hood and front, 1 mitt for the rear. 2 mitts for each side. That's 7 mitts, or 6 extra. The Chemical Guys chenille mitt is $7. So you are paying $42 for extra mitts, but saving $23-$30 in other material from the 2 bucket method. So your net is only about $12-$19 extra.
Although, for myself, I may go: 1 mitt for the roof and windshield, 1 mitt for the hood, 1 mitt with bug mesh for the front, 1 mitt for the rear and 3 mitts for each side, for a total of 10 mitts.

Speaking of wrong washing techniques; I tried to expand channels of car detailing... BOY! This dude said "I've been detailing vehicles for about 20 years now" and sat there and "pre rinsed" by spraying it bottom to top, never touched the tires, no two bucket method and was straight up doing circle motions all over that bad boy! Like daaaaayuuuuuum and to top it off he goes "We are gonna correct the paint" and checks for swirls and says "looks like someone didn't wash it properly" like 👀 CHILE! Lol Sorry, rant over. But overall your videos are very satisfyomg; I even have my fiance addicted to watching your videos 😆 Maining from me using his phone when mine dies or our daughter is playing a learning game on mine.. & I didn't realise I subscribed under his account (oh well!) 😅

That was awesome. A lot of hard work for sure, and you didn't even break a sweat. I'd be filling a third bucket just with my sweat 😏 This Lexus probably looked better than when the owner bought it. This paint colour is every bit as nice (if not better) than Mazda's much-hyped Soul Red Crystal. What is your least favourite colour to correct, and which is your most favourite? Great job!

So a post-it note would be about 3.6 thousands of an inch thick, which is about 91 microns (25.4 microns per .001")... if you remove 4 microns per paint correction you could do it 23 times before removing all the clear coat.... If my math is wrong please correct me.. Question? Does the paint depth gauge give you the total thickness of the base coat and the clear coat, or can you determine the thickness of just the clear coat??? Thanks for the video

I’m sorry to say, but without the mud, few toupees made from dogs’ hair, food reserves for the upcoming zombie apocalypse, as well, as occasional human remains in the trunk....I only found the paint correction part interesting.....awesome job, by the way! Back to your channel to search for my favorites....you know....vomit, feces, rotten food, decomposing squirrels and the mud from the rivers of Babylon covering the car’s exterior.....fermented dairy products in the trunk for the aromatic experience while cruising on hot summer day would be a lovely addition.
By the way, have you ever encountered a car in a condition that made you throw up? If yes, could you describe it....if not....do you want to? I know a guy in Canada.

Question. If you were going to apply. Ceramic coating, you would have skipped the polishing step, right?
    Great video and more please.

I understand how long it take. I took 6 hrs to detail my Silverado after watching your videos. I followed your directions and the results were well worth the time I put into it. I got all the equipment, steamer, shop vac, towels, microfibre pads, Bissell extractor, Still waiting on the drill brushes from Amazon.ca I even ordered 2 from The chemical guys at least they are in Canada. Buckets with grit guards, and detailing supplies mostly from Canadian Tire, Princess Auto. Turtle Wax has some really great detailing supplies, they have a protectant that is the next best thing to 303 aerospace really nice product and it makes the trims and dash pop. Mitch was an inspiration for me to clean not just wash my truck now I am the talk of the street. Don't think I would make a business of it but it is a great DIY for friends and family and its enjoyable to be active and just right into it.

I did full detail and polish on our 2018 RX as well to prep it for a ceramic coat. Same process, with one exception, I use multiple MF towels vs two bucket method. I use about 8-10 high GSM MF towels total to wash using front and back sides, but I feels it safer than two bucket method and faster as well. Very nice job at end though. It’s a shame the owners didn’t want to ceramic coat the car after a nice paint correction.

Just a question: Do you have problems with your skin? I've noticed you work with flip flops around some pretty potent chemicals. I've suffered numerous skin burns when I tried that one summer in a car wash I worked.

Hey, just scrolling through and watching a bunch of videos. I'm not sure if I've missed this elsewhere and it may be a dumb question, but how do you go about getting your customer's car? Do they typically drop it off and have a ride or do you pick it up?

Never use quick detailers as lube. It adds polymers to paint that lowers the effectiveness of your polishing

Does it matter what kind of quick detailer you use with the clay bar? Since some have gloss enhancers and protection, I imagine they would be counterproductive since you're in the middle of trying to take everything off before polishing..

I don't get the "real time" component of this video. it's great and informative, as always, but it's not what I imagine "real time" would be (as this would then be like a ten hour long video, lol.)

I'm not an expert, but one think I do know about washing a car is that you never do it in the sun...
    Maybe Canada's sun is different.
Again, I'm not the expert by any means...

Hi Mitch, awesome work as usual, noticed that you didn’t mention type of compound use , was this one 1 step only by griots garage, or do you have another of your preference that works better? Noticed that 3D have one that also leave a wax behind, not sure if this will be something you would recommend?

I’m happy to see this video because I see some rich folks with their New car that just got a wax electric buffer but it leave serious swirl marks. $100 or more and they get Scratches in their paint job. I used purple clay in the past I liked it I wish I took some for my car.

    2 questions..
    A. Any chance on each detail you could put the total hours it took... I know on some you say it but on all of them and written down would be cool
    B. Any chance you could put cost of each job? I am subscribed to a carpet cleaning business channel and they put the total of each job and it’s just cool to see
    Love your videos man!

I like your videos, am a detailer myself. Curious as to why you don't use high-pressure, filtered air to assist in exterior drying, rather than rubbing the entire car with a towel?
