After 6 years, I came back to this song because I remember auditioning for it, and how hard it was to hit the notes, and after 6 years I can finally hit the notes 🙌😂
Manuel Orozco - I actually like her rendition more than Shirley's ☺. I'm here because I saw The Music Man in full on TH-cam. I was expecting it to be the 1962, but I went ahead with it when I saw it had Matthew Broderick (he played the Prince in the Cinderella television episode from Faery Tale Theatre), Kristin Chenoweth, and Victor Garber (from The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, who also played Christopher's father in the Brandy version of Cinderella, but I think you might already know that).
oh man i loved this play, one of the most amazing musicals i ever had the joy of being in. Shipoopi was a wonderfully fun musical number and then you had ones like this that were simply touching like my white knight.
wow... there are a lot of people who need to express the fact that this a audition song, and I'm one of them! I'm 11 and this is the audition song for sixth grade girls looking for a singing part in the play... MUST GET SINGING PART!! I love this song, its so beautiful, and i'm can't believe i have the honor of singing it as my audition song... Now if only I could sing it as well as Kristin Chenoweth...
There was this boy I really liked, we lived in the same apartment building and he lived in the third floor and I lived in the second floor. One day in class we watched the movíe And every night I would look up the ceiling and sing this song to him. Sadly he never liked me and he is a playboy. I will write a book about my experience and use this song for nostalgia and memories for my story.
I will be auditioning in June for Music Man KIDS and I’m trying out for Marion and I hope I get it. I have done three productions. Aladdin Jr. as a guard and ensemble. I did Cinderella KIDS as Anastasia. At my school I did the wizard of oz and I got Glinda. Wish me best of luck
There is no easy trick to being able to reach high notes or sing in vibrato. Only practice. But if you get a shaky voice when you get nervous, you can mimic a vibrato while you are singing and nervous, but it's still all about (LOTS of) practice and learning control though that practice.
I have to sing this for an audition. The end of it. Im 11 years old and go to shenendehowa. They're casting a play at the high school and need 2 girls adn a boy for a little part. Wish me Luck!
My audition is tomorrow for our middle school production. For the role of Marian is between me and this other girl and she is tough competition. GOTTA GET THIS RIGHT
Auditioning for this musical soon and I really want this part. The only problem is one of my friends wants it. Another part is she thinks shes a soprano but isn't... And if I get it she will most likely quite and hate me... Oh well!
Katie12886 I've seen her in Music Man, Annie where she played Lily St. Regis, Pink Panther, Stranger than Fiction, Descendants as Maleficent voiced Fawn in the first two Tinker Bell movies and Fifi in the Peanuts Movie.
Im kinda scared cuz I'm Marian in my school play, and I'm only 12, so I cant sing that high :( ( plz dont judge me for having a youtube account ) Im really nervous.., i mean i still have a whole bunch of time till the play but im still really scared cuz I cant sing that high!
I was just dreaming about how lovely it would be to play that part. (It's what made me look up the song.) Please don't worry too much about the technical details~hitting the notes isn't everything (though, admittedly, it does help sometimes :) You got the part because your music teacher knew you could do it. Enjoy it while you can~it's a treasure.
♥ Alenise ♥ Well, ask your teacher if you could do a lower note. Lower Key, or even a octave lower. Im only a few years older, I can barely do that note. And Im a soprano!
Same.Well I want to audition for amarilys and I was told I had to audition with this song and I can barely hit these notes.I got like 2 months but time goes by really fast and I'm also really nervous.
using this song to audition for Amyrillis im 12 and going to be auditioning for an high school play doing a high school play now called carol vs chistmas
I tried out for this play, hoping to get a small part, but I was casted as Marian. I'm super crazy happy. This is the first play I've ever been in, and I got the lead!!!
same with me but i just had my audition guess what I GOT MARIAN PUROO AND I DIDNT EVEN WANT TO DO IT BUT IT SO FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!! everyone thinks im really good but im not sure about that...

Thank you! I am performing it tomorrow for a recital I am in. I am nervous but confident that I got it!
Thank you!I know this was posted 11 years ago but I am preforming soon, and I’m singing this song!
Same here! Auditioning with this, the best I think I can get is Amaryllis
Interesting fact: This is the same tune as "76 trombones" but is played in 3/4 time, at a slower tempo.
duh
Laura Voigtsberger duh? I never knew before and I’ve seen the play many times both live and on film. Thanks, OP! That is an awesome fact.

Ah, so beautiful. One of my favorite songs from the whole production.
One of mine too along with 76 Trombones, Shipoopi, Pick A Little, Will I Ever, Till There Was You and Wells Fargo Wagon.

Beautiful line, so poetic and heartbreaking!
How the heck am I supposed to get my voice to be so pure?? I am auditioning in tomorrow!!
You don't have to be as pure as her, just more pure than the other guy auditioning XD haha
Well if your voice was that good you would probably already be famous
Your not alone
Emmy Gerard what is your problem? My God you aren’t famous so be quiet
@@olivercepeda2475 Whatever. You can do it, but it does take training starting from a young age.
WHY IS THIS SONG SO HARD TO SING!!!???!!!
I need to sing it as a solo and I know I will get nowhere with it...
Oh, well. It's still a good song.
Range and octave jumps.
Real
I watched this in school, THIS WAS STUCK IN EVERYONES HEADS
Kristin Chenoweth was beautiful as Marion! I'm actually here because she's playing the scheming Velma Von Tussle in NBC's Hairspray Live
