YO HEADS UP. Not every tweet in this thread is something I agree with - but I found it interesting and a good kickoff to discussion (and making jokes). Don't get too heated. If it helps you great, if not feel free to ignore it. Success is definitely not defined as narrowly as this guy does, but its a good way to think about careers/startups if that's your priority right now.
Honestly, this channel deserves 1M subs. You've got my sub and imma head to twitch and give you my sub there too, thank you for the amazing videos! Btw I totally thought Harry Potter too with the thumbnail
Most important part about taking life advice is to filter out the stuff that won't help you. There is tons of advice that works for other people but doesn't help you, it doesn't matter if someone has found a way to live their life that works if it doesn't work for you.
Sure. You should definitely look at your own circumstances and what you have been doing when taking advice. Also probably don’t take advice from people who seem to not do what they are preaching. And look at the person who’s giving you advice, not just the words themselves.
@@ianerickson2210 Best example, a lot of business "guru's". For example, two of the guys on shark tank (Mark Cuban and Kevin O'Leary) made their fortunes by selling off overpriced companies during the dot-com bubble, both of the companies they sold to larger companies ended up being dead weight on their balance sheets within two years. They made their fortunes from selling garbage they never would have bought in an asset bubble, be careful what advice you take from them.
@@Ravie1 A good advice to take from that is learn when it's time to sell/let go. Yes they got "lucky" being there at the right time but they wouldn't be where they are today if they didn't know this!
I get so much joy out of just reading the chat messages with the people “taking notes”. Stuff like “outsource my passions to Korea” and the whole chat spamming “be Ludwig” makes me die laughing. Amazing video
I honestly can’t even explain how much these fun streams help me lmao. I’ve learned so much about marketing, outlook on life/success, and just an overall understanding of my career path.
The passion thing is why I'm studying chem now and not Theater or music. I adore chemistry but it's also so much more stable than anything entertainment related.
I’m exactly just like you. I adore chemistry and I love to learn about music and play bass. In a man ideal world of love to learn both at a college level but obviously chemistry is much more viable. Which I’m ok with because I still love it
The thing about giving up can be good is because of the sink cost fallacy. The thing where a person has spent so much time and effort that they are reluctant to stop trying something that is not working.
Ngl atrioc I don’t comment much but I heard that commenting helps this video get a better spot in the algorithm and this shit slaps, you deserve so many more views my guy

I agree that technology is not as far along as media makes it seem but at the same time i believe our technology is probably years ahead of where we think it is in government/military research. I mean for god sakes the pentagon has had a heartbeat monitor that can identify a person from hundreds of meters away for decades now.
This advice really drives home how fucked up and depressing capitalist societies are. The guy in these tweets sounds like he's had his happiness and humanity beaten out of him by corporate work culture.
Hey Big A, as an about to be born fetus, you going trough this thread is really helpful, I am literally so excited to star *living* and using this advice. Big thanks from the guy inside.
My sister just graduated from undergraduate with a degree in plastics/composites engineering, started a farming business with her boyfriend on an island she lives on, and is now making mad bucks
Hard work betrays none, but dreams betray many. Is all that needs to be said whether you want to chase your passions. I on the other hand am not looking to become successful, I just want to be happy. And I can find it in my passion despite me being 1 foot in debt.
I never liked the "changing your mind is cool" thing because a lot of people take that to the extreme and they simply "change" their mind for the sake of appearing cool as opposed to actually believing they were wrong and that tends to cause way more problems for everyone.
I only recently realized that technology was far behind what I thought it was. Multi million and billion dollar companies still have TERRIBLE tech. Companies just do the same thing game companies do. They basically make a great trailer that makes their tech seem like a 10/10 when it's actually a Cyberpunk. So the perceived image is far higher than reality. The simple truth most companies go on auto-pilot once successful and don't keep seeking innovation. For tech... you need to constantly be working on it or you'll fall behind fast.
Yeah a college degree is a lot less likely to be helpful if you’re in marketing/business. I’m in political philosophy and getting a masters and then doctorate is absolutely guaranteed to get me a professor or research assistant/fellow job in a small university which pays massively.
Difference between stocks and real estate is it’s much easier to get a million dollar loan to buy real estate. You aren’t getting 10x leverage to buy an S&P index fund.
Degrees can help pump your resume, learn stuff, etc. But is it worth it sitting through 4+ years of adult daycare and going into debt? Better go find an apprenticeship instead of college that will teach your from zero. And if you’re not sure about what you want to become, go work menial jobs until you make up your mind. There’s no need to rush into and through college. (Stem fields do not apply to apprenticeship strategy).
Personally i think the businesses proposition is wrong, heres why mattering on what buisness you decide on it can be great or horrible, know your audience, if you live in California for example opening a restaurant or weed shop is risky af but it your in a rural Wyoming town and start a grocery store or McDonald's, you become a dependent as long as you can handle the buisness, you can have people in flocks, know your target demographic, local buisness is easier than international, pick something new but interesting Your goal is an a or a b, give someone a product, or give them a service, lots of services take special degrees or skills you don't have, if you have them great, use that, but if not a product is the way to go Now you've decided, what does your target want, is there something you can sell that is unique to you or your area? No food choices? Carwash? Lawn care? What do the people want, ask them, sometimes its not whats new, its whats convenient, nobody wants to drive 50 miles for some decent products, find a good location centered near people but out of the way to lower local taxes, and commute time, 95% of your customers are the local 3 closest towns, remember that
Although this guy who was tweeting had some interesting stuff to say, a lot of what he was pushing was super buzzwordey and “kinda suck it up” attitude lol. My advice is: as a general rule you shouldn’t take advice from Twitter
Hey, Atrioc! Your stories about your journey into the marketing industry always intrigue me, but the quote "Passions are very whimsical" really struck me. My idea of passion for an industry/career is breaking the impulse down to its foundation. Finding what you like is an easy game, but figuring out how to play it and make a profit is whole other game. Most people's passions come from something they are just into at the time, but will never be able to lead a life in. If you read this, what would you say your biggest breakthrough was (excluding the bag) for making a life in marketing? Disclosure: I could not care less about being in the marketing business, but all business journeys have its own merits. Looking for a little light in this wine-dark sea.
