    I don't see the point of an SUV having a 3rd row if adults can fit back there. The Traverse, Telluride, Palisade, and many others in this segment have a usable 3rd tow, so why doesn't this one? It's like they added a 3rd row for the sake of a 3rd row, because having it "just for children" is a terrible excuse.

    • @marlonestrella8105
      @marlonestrella8105 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 2nd row has 2 captains chair that is super roomy... you can literally cross your legs in it. You can literally move those seats up a little with plenty of room for a 240lb guy sitting in the middle to not feel like he’s in a sardine can, while you fit 1 large adult and 2 children in the back (or 1 small frame woman/man)

    You should not be rummaging around in the console while you are driving. Distractions cause accidents. Most people will be using a data cable for the Apple car play or Android auto and their phone will be charging anyway. Let the passenger play with the center console. It’s safer. The infotainment system is so large because it can do so many things. Eg., 360 camera display while you are driving, adjusting climate control and choosing your sound source. Also a handy touchscreen swipe to instantaneously switch from driver to passenger control. That said the map display for Toyota navigation lacks a lot of refinement. Better to use Google maps from your phone and plug in to use the car sound system for navigating.

      And the leg space for the middle row is pretty good already. I got in a 2022 and felt squished in the middle but it was only because the front passenger seat was pushed all the way back. I got in the front passenger seat and adjusted it for me (6'1") and then got in the 2nd row passenger and had like a foot of space. Look, the 3rd rows in all of these in this segment are lame but you have options to make the Highlander 2022 not quite so painful.

      I agree, Wife and I with the 3 kids looked at a highlander XLE today. My oldest is 5'9" and he very comfortably sat in the 3rd row with me 5'10" in the second row. Both of us had plenty of leg and head room. I guess if you are 6'4" and have giant kids then it won't work out so well but average size people and kids should have no problem. Don't get me wrong the 3rd row isn't the most comfortable thing but it has plenty of room and even has cup holders and a USB setup back there.

      It took me an entire week 7 days to go from full to 1 quarter tank (driving the same distance) filled up my tank for $18.49

    • @marlonestrella8105

      Audi Tts my wife was the one that actually wanted this car as her final candidates were a Lexus 450h, Toyota Highland Hybrid, Volvo XC90 t6i. The Highlander was the cheapest out of the 3. The model we got is a 2020 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited edition 2.5L FWD 36 City 35 mi highway. To get the platinum would have caused us to wait a couple of weeks since the lot we were at didn’t have the color she wanted (White) and we were being pressured by our insurance company to decide on what to do with my g35 (some asshole kid rear ended my car and drove away, lucky the cops found him due to the stupid punk dropping his plates at the scene).
      My g35 was total so we use that money for down payment for this car.
      The Highlander is smooth. Suspension was way better than any of the cars we test drove,
      Mazda CX-9, volvo xc90, lec 450h, Acura MDX, rav 4
      Lexus was slightly better but it also cost 57k msrp
      In regards to Hundai. I have had the Santa Fe as a rental before, so did a Nissan Rogue, Chevy equanox, Subaru Forester,
      All was Bad experiences.... the two companies I’m gonna stay away from is Chevy, GM, Hundai, land rovers because of my past experiences
      Regarding the cons of this car. It’s not that powerful.... this isn’t some crap you go take off roading or like you trying to boldoze zombies if ever there is an apocalypse. It has enough power with just being a 248 HP engine to get the job done. The car is fairly cheap at 47kmsrp
      Even with the added crap like tints, door guards, 20 in alloy rims, it didn’t break the bank... the Lexus with the similar lower version rx350 was running at 51k
      The Highlander limited doesn’t have the 360view but it has all the other stuff like from rear and side sensors, lane assists, park assists, precollision sensors. It took me awhile to figure out how to toggle the setting to lower it sensitivity because it was bugging me that the car will autocorrect while I’m driving and the wheel would try to steer me back into the lane due to its lane correction feature. It’s like playing tug of war with your steering wheel
      Hands free Power lift gates is a cool feature but I don’t like that I have to lift the entire gate to access the back and not just open the window for quick access. I have keyless entry... and I don’t even have to unlock the car using my key fob... I just put my hand in the door handle and it opens and locks once I step away.... only the high end volvo and the Lexus did that.... did I mention the xc90 also costs 63k? I can’t imagine how much the t9 inscription model costs lol....

    • @marlonestrella8105
      @marlonestrella8105 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Audi Tts oh and also the Highlander has blind spot sensors too, forgot to mention that which is needed since the car is pretty big and you don’t want to get hit from the blind side.... regarding the birds eye view issue, I had a blackvue camera installed that has front back and side cams I have hooked up to my monitor which I use as a live camera when I’m trying to look at what’s around me or what’s in front of me. It cost a little bit more lol embarrassing to say but having the extra camera for the front plus the dash cam was needed. I don’t trust Texas anymore after being hit twice with hit and run cases....1 being which did my g35 in one final time...
      Plus birds eye view only works at slow movements, I think the threshold is 9mph... if you pass that it will cut out or it won’t take an accurate reading. So I don’t think it’s worth it to pay $57k msrp just to get the platinum....
      If that’s the only feature you’re going for...
      The Highlander by far is the most cost efficient if you want to just have nice luxury items and a gas saver that can carry a lot of stuff
      Regarding the 3rd row that is somewhat true. Lol i tried to fit 2 adults back there and it’s not comfy BUT!!! And I can’t believe no one says this especially in this video, you can move the captains chair up because the 2nd row is roomy. It’s enough room to cross your legs! Having the 2nd row is better than 1st class seating in some airlines...
      trunk space is non existent if you have the 3rd row but that’s expected... I can fit 2 5gal bins and a couple of bags of groceries with the 3rd row up
      And the charging station is 100% true. The fkn moron who decided to put it there should get a slap on the face... it’s designed for small phones or caseless phones. I have a iPhone XS Max with a small case and it isn’t flat to its surface.... but it still charges but still unreliable. I bought an after market wireless charger from amazon that fits on my dash... $23
      It charges faster than the car charger.. so I don’t use that anymore... plus it’s SUPER dangerous to try and get your phone while you’re driving... and I suspect that was the point as to why they put it in that compartment.... if you take a look for yourself, that compartment fits a huge bag! You can fit a lot of junk in there! That’s where my wife hides her purse and where I put my wallet sometimes....
      Not a good place to put a wireless charger if you want quick access to it
      So far no other complaints about this car! The money I save on the gas tho lol for the amount of work and luxury this brings?!
      It’s totally worth it !

    How tall are you? I understand that the 3rd row is cramp when the 2nd row is not adjusted. The 2nd row usually has plenty of room to slide forward. Next time, please sit in the 2nd row and slide forward enough to still have leg room, then go to the 3rd row to show us the leg room. Thanks in advance.

      Toyota needs to address the third row on the next Highlander. Right now it doesn’t fare well with many of their competitors. Too low and the bench is too short. Pushing the second seat forward isn’t going to fix that.

    2020 highlander pitch: You know how we make the Supra now?! We need to put the same lines on the side of the new Highlander, badly glue the rear end of a 2014 CX350 onto the back, make the rest of the outside look as soft and lazy as any 2000’s minivan. Last, take the interior from the base model Corolla, and we will mark it up 20% from the last generation! Everyone will buy it!

    When it comes to the 3rd all reviewers do the same thing, they never adjust the 2nd row forward and then say i know this is a kids only area. So why not adjust the 2nd row or show a child in that area?

    I too am VERY DISAPPOINTED in that tray in the storage area. IT IS TOO SMALL, so if you have a larger phone, it's useless. WHY TAKE MY VALUABLE storage space when you already have the charging ports in the open areas in the dash Toyota!!!!! A WASTE. And for women, they WANT to be able to store their purse & lock it up & you have reduced the storage between the seat to practically NOTHING. The Highlander will be driven by MANY MOMS/GRANDMAS & we need space for our stuff!

      How big is your phone? Some phones are as big as tablets, I wouldn't expect it to fit in there--in which case just plug into the USB port to charge it, there are plenty of them.

    Do you know how cows are as smart as dogs, can feel love, fear, terror, heartbreak, and loss? They suffered the worst heartbreak, daily misery, torture, and death by torture and trauma for that baby soft leather. What a stupid thing to offer, when there are sensible alternatives.

      Probably. But people get electrocuted by household electrical things every day, and injured or killed putting gas into things too. Unless you're yanking out wires under the hood (the high voltage ones are all bright orange) it's all well hidden away.

    There is nothing good about a 4-cylinder motor. A 6 cylinder motor would have been far better, and less noisy when you try to accelerate. This is like beating an old horse, " Come on, Mister Ed, you can make it up this hill! ". And the sound is like a tin can with a bunch of marbles in it. Unacceptable. What are you not listening???

      @@modernsoccer1860 It's 2020 not 1994. It's tossup between the Hyundai and Toyota for reliability. If you want to drive a car around for the next 20 years at minimum cost you should just get a 00's used Highlander and keep it running with regular maintenance.

    • @trex1448
      @trex1448 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @G S that would be true if you want to buy a car to drive for 18 years or if you're in the market for 15 year used cars at $5k. With new cars, the difference is minimal to none in 2021.

    Can’t subscribe… besides, being sarcastic, the reviewer pale to mention Toyota quality. If you think a traverse or the Korean twins are better vehicles than your sadly mistaken. I’ll take Toyota to reliability and any day over the Korean, twins, old technology, and the unreliability of Chevy and Ford.
