The biggest compliment about Griffiths is I've never heard anybody EVER say a single bad word against him. A humble man who just so happened to be brilliant. An irreplaceable ambasaddor who will be missed. RIP.
Had the pleasure of talking to Terry a few times, as I lived not far away from Terry's Matchroom club in Llanelli and on every single occasion he remembered what we talked about, asked me how my university course was going and just taking that time to talk to me. He also really helped me out with a university project by speaking to me at the Welsh Open, even when he was working with the BBC at the time. He was like this to everyone he met. He was also very honest with people, from my experience being part of a youth coaching course he ran in the early 2010s. Snooker, sport and Wales has lost a true legend, gentleman and all round humble human being. My thoughts are with Terry's family. Rest in peace 🏴
A brilliant break to finish the match. You can see he was settling himself down and trying not to think about the fact that he'd passed the finish line as he slowly cleared the table. Terry had the perfect style for frustrating fast players like Higgins and White. They knew if he got among the balls they would have to sit in the cold for a long time. No five minute clearances with this guy. He settled himself and took his time. And let's not forget, this was at the beginning of an era when Alex Higgins and Steve Davis were appearing separately or together in every major final in the UK. Terry took on a legendary rosta of players in a legendary period of snooker and beat them all to become simultaneous World and Masters Champion. Like his Welsh compatriot Ray Reardon who we also recently lost Terry showed great class throughout his career. I'm sure Mark Williams is proud to be carrying on the tradition of great Welsh champions. RIP Terry Griffiths. Duw orffwys dy enaid (God rest your soul).
I absolutely LOVED Terry’s commentary over the years. Great player yes but his commentary of the game in the late 90’s - early 00’s was a joy to listen to. Absolute class act and a true great in every sense of the word. R.I.P legend!
He looks much older than 33 yo here. I remember as a little boy growing up watching Terry battle it out with Eddie Charlton. The frames used to take ages, but, I fell in love with snooker in the 80’s.
Wonderful to see gain, thank you. I'd love to see his fantastic win over Higgins on the way to his 1979 World Championship, it was as great a match as has ever been played - I reckon the whole thing should be here on TH-cam please - people would be stunned by its quality.
I was stunned by tte news, as a young lass it was my pride and joy my signed photograph of Terry sadly i had to sell it for personal reasons I bunked off school in 1979 to watch his matches This is one the finest breaks to win a title ever RIP Terry thanks for entertainment , being a gentleman and a huge talent Coached manu of todays greats
Best cue action ive ever seen.watched him in the worlds from first game to lifting the world championship..a gentleman of the game, wonderful player..RIP Mr Griffiths..world champ😢🏴🏴
Well, that was a magnificent break, too many difficult pots! I had the privilege to watch Terry playing in real time as a teenager. He will be missed. R.I.P
The camera angles back then. Gives the 'in the crowd' view I guess. I'm so glad they found better camera angles to view the full table, but even today I'd love for a way to watch from the overhead view on any match. Would be a nice way to see how it's done.
Best Potting I've Ever Seen, I don't think a single pot went in off a jaw throughout the whole break. Pure Excellence!!! Rest In Peace Terry Griffiths, Great Human Being and an Absolute Legend of Snooker! 🎯👊👏👏👏💯💯
I Think He was Drinking Coke out of that Pint Jug from the Looks of it, if I'm not Mistaken. A Time when Life was Much more Simplier and Enjoyable. Loved the Vintage Camera Footage especially the Commentary, So much Better in those Days. RIP.
The biggest compliment about Griffiths is I've never heard anybody EVER say a single bad word against him. A humble man who just so happened to be brilliant. An irreplaceable ambasaddor who will be missed. RIP.
A complete opposite to Judd Trump. A bad role model & ambassador

Not sure today’s players could play that well in flared trousers. RIP Terry. The postman delivered with that clearance.
Don't forget he was also a salesman and a bus conductor.

RIN Terry we will miss you.
Ray and Terry showed the way for Welsh snooker. I'm sure Mark Williams is a big fan of both.
RIP. We will miss the beautiful shirts.
One needs extreme confidence to wear those flares too! 🤣🤣
RIP Terry.
Only ever qualifier to win the world snooker crown.
Ever single odds against him! Legend...
Shaun Murphy 2005. Nevertheless, a great achievement.
Weren't Johnson and Murphy also qualifiers when they took their title ? Got to be some player to do it though
Murphy was ranked 48 professional, Griffith was a ranked outsider played more matches in the qualifiers.
Yous are judging apples and bananas..
RIP ALEX and TERRY
God bless terry rip
Happy memories...... ❤️🇫🇷

R.I.P Terry Griffiths. Been a fan of snooker since 1992 when my nan was watching her favourite player Peter Ebdon, watched it on and off ever since!!

Legend, lovely man. My deep regrets to his family. Take solace that he will be up there with the angels, showing others how to play the game.

Sad news... RIP Terry, thank you for many wonderful memories watching you on cable TV in the 80s.
A great player, and even more so, a great sportsman who had a great attitude towards the game and his playing comrades. May he rest in peace.
Memories of this man as a kid I was in awe of how good he was.
What a great player Terry was and a great coach too. He was a great credit to Wales.

I agree. Birds-eye view is criminally under-used.
One of the snooker legends of my day, and a true gentleman of his generation, night and god bless mi old marra. RIP.

RIP Terry Griffiths.

Hilarious how the match is won, the high break prize is already his, and he's still playing every pot like the match depends on it. RIP.
