Funnily enough, I implemented Domain Expansions (and a counterpart to domains, fitting in with the lore of my campaign) into my campaign not too long ago. Maybe a month or two after I first did so, your first video on DnD Domain Expansions popped up in my recommendations. You're doing great stuff man, keep up the good work!

Love the idea of Domain expansions in D&D.
Since cursed energy originates from negative emotions, domain expansions have some great potential for RP if we design them to reflect the caster's innermost turmoil / trauma.
Going to use the backstory of a friend's PC, black dragonborn paladin called Vapetiesh.
Orphaned when an a catastrophe wrecks his village, the young Lizardfolk is pulled from the rubble and indoctrinated into a cult that venerates a "great serpent" trapped "deep beneath the tree".
Spending years alongside other orphans "rescued" by the cult, he hunts, trains, feasts, and sleeps alongside his "brothers and sisters".
Once this "batch of candidates" grow strong enough, they are brought to the culling chambers for their "communion".
30 days in a lightless tomb with no food or water, only one candidate emerges out of the group. He is presented with "the serpent's blood" changing his body from the inside and "one of its fangs" as a weapon.
As for the domain expansion, one could design it as the culling chamber itself, trapping all targets within.
Similar to compelled duel, it could enforce a wisdom save to attack the nearest target. Could also go with an anti-heal effect, where the only way to recover health would be to consume the flesh of an opponent trapped inside. Could give it a necromancy effect where any creatures killed in the domain can be called upon as ravenous undead. Could also go deeper into the devouring aspect and straight up make it rain acid in there. So many ways to make it gnarly and over the top.
Edit: still haven't finished the video so I don't yet know what each node does. Just going off the vibes until I read into the docs.
Wow! Epic!
I think my Domain Expansion would be related to my Warlock's Patron (Obviously using "Unlimited Void" as a basis.) Put simply, it drags those affected into the domain of the Great Old One, forcing the same experience that my Warlock had when he stared into the abyss. For an extra flair it will also do acid damage.
Stylistically, I can visualize it being something like "Apocrypha" but in the Far Realm, with the GOO simply swimming through the ether above the domain, unaware of those who tresspassed into it's realm uninvited.
Its name is "Court of the Winding Serpent."
One of the Divine artifacts within my world allows for the creature attuning to it to create a domain. This video is helpful in designing rules around it
Aw incredible! I love that :D
One of my first DMs had a domain system before JJK even came out (very different, but had the same name and general idea). My character was a fallen lich named Mori (adventurer turned lich that got killed then brought back with missing memories), and his domain was called the Labyrinthian Library. Important to know beforehand, he gained blood manipulation abilities after a big character moment that was a huge part of his moveset moving forward. All of the information he had ever learned was somewhere in the pages of his library. If his blood is inside any book in a specific hallway, he can choose to start warping the space in his domain. Essentially, he can mark books to make infinite loops, shortcuts, or completely block off parts of his domain. He also had an ability that allowed him to, when using his spellbook and a sample of a mage’s blood, copy/steal their style of magic. He used this with a mummy to create a massive sandstorm, and with a phantom/illusionist to make phantom duplicates of himself all throughout the domain. I plan on running my own campaign soon, and I’m using his style of domain in it. I have a couple players that like JJK, and I told them that this would be very different than what they’re used to from domains.
This sounds like the coolest freaking stuff ever!!! Daaaamn 😱
You could have an entire campaign in this guy’s domain
Id love to see how that worked mechanically
@@OrmylLP You had a unique action called a domain action you could take each turn. For him, he could use his domain action to create or move a point, it started with however many he wanted. A set of linked points would function as a portal, but in lore it was him twisting the geometry of the domain past 2 dimensions. He had a main room with a bunch of stairways and a long section in the middle that was hollow, only accessible via links that didn’t make sense physically. If someone got stuck in there, he could make them fall infinitely. For the ability steal, it was always on the fly, but it required a full turn to set up beforehand (no types of actions) and for him to have his spellbook out. Its effects were determined the moment he used it by the DM and/or me. For the sandstorm, it was 5d6 damage and a strength save or falling prone at the start of his turn, since when we fought the mummy it was 7d6.
@@aidenbrown7458 Sounds like it’d be a Backrooms-style thing, but I can definitely see it!
the curse energy is based on negative emotions.
The most logical thing is to make your cursing technique an ironic aspect of your existence.
Example.
My life always falls into the reverse choice, as if I am always wrong. If we had to base it on anything, it would be a 50/50 chance where my first choice is always the wrong one.
With that aspect in mind, I will say that my curse technique will be based on the inverse of probability.
In simple terms, the inversion creates a logical scenario with a 50/50 probability where the one that its choose by the user will never happen.
The scenario cannot be controlled at will since it can only be applied in 50/50 congruent situations.
And the domain, would be call the Reverse Frog Temple, a place where every thought is reversed, making it extremely difficult for people within the domain to make congruent decisions.
The maximun output of this technique is a simple domain where an aspect of reality can be altered by applying its reverse effect being active as long as the simple domain is and the effects of altered aspect would only be apply in the domain.
Finally, the best part of this technique probably is the reverse curse technique because it just disables your cursing technique lol.
The best use would be to faint if the user knows the curse technique well and you need to apply a more unpredictable strategy since it is a requirement that you have said out loud a 50/50 prediction for it to work. but with the reverse technique it is a random chance, which makes it useful.
This cursing technique has a terrible side effect and that makes you lose all the bets you do even written or spoken. The only way to temporarily nullify the effects is with the reverse curse technique being active.
Trust me it's really easy to create a curse technique. Just base on a negative aspect of yourself and you'll have it.
What I love of jjk is that you can take a negative thing about yourself and make it a powerful weapon it's really an amazing concept because it can be so unique because it can be anything but it can be clearly explained since it's something you know.
Hahaha this is so much fun! Love that it's called reverse frog temple xD
@@TheUglyGoblin Thank you. You know the idea of the frog came up because when you do the frog face with your hands it looks normal face to face but when you show it straight to others it's upsidedown.
It's literally a domain expansion lol
What i love about these skill trees is that you alway's add your own touch to the tree itself. It would've been so much easier to just copy paste the effects of domains we've already seen, but instead you added your own custom ability's to the tree and i think it's so much better for that reason.
Aw thank you so much :3
Mmm my goal for them is to keep them broad and non specific so that players have more creative freedom to not only pick and mix abilities but also flavour them in whatever way they like.
Thank you so much for noticing that by the way 🥰 means a lot

id make it ranks of exhaustion instead of HP, and have certain feats which allow you to have it open for a period of time before taking those ranks.
or perhaps just have every round be a con save of increasing difficulty
My problem with exhaustion in relatation to this is it ends up nullifying so many of the benefits you gain from using the domain expansion pretty quickly :P

So, I’d like to try to explain what my character’s domain would be
His name is pebble, he’s a scribes wizard
There are two ways I’d imagine his domain would work
Either it’s a labyrinth that is a large library, that is huge through the size node
Or it’s an anti domain, but as a wizard I don’t know if the possibility of me not casting is worth it

Aw yoo whaaat!? That's Amazing to hear!
Haha love the comedic relief ability! I'm impressed with how well you merge dnd mechanics and jjk😍
Awww thank you so much :D :,3
I don’t have any domains in my own JJK monk subclass, but has its own Black Flash/divergent fist mechanic.
When landing a critical hit with an unarmed strike, the number of damage dice equals your wisdom modifier instead of just doubling, also your next attack(on the same turn) rolls with advantage(implying you reach 120%). If you’re rolling an attack with advantage, and BOTH d20s roll the same number, no matter what, multiply your damage dice by your wisdom mod, then multiply the damage by your proficiency bonus. Yes it’s broken, but rolling the same number twice is 1/400 chance.
Haha fun!
...rolling the same number on two d20s is a 1 in 20 chance
I'm late to the video but watching this made me feel like I've been hit with Infinity by how excited this skill tree made me!!
I hope in the near future this skill tree can be incorporated into DC20 as optional rules;D

So imagine a human male who's so sick of being belittled and treated as lesser...so he throws 3 points (at least) into Enviroment, and the rest of his points into Mental.
An now he's finally had enough, and clashes against a powerful enemy's domain with let's say...9 points in Mental.
What this does is create a domain that restrains everybody if they lack movement speed, and gives him a Domain DC of (8 + Chosen ability modifer [+5], and proficency bonus [+6 max])
19...but adding on the Mental Points, that's 28. The big bad, super poweful domain gets canceled out, and the human male gets to wail on his restrained foe for the duration.
Oooof! Scary combo! I love it

this guy is working so hard for passion, i love it. this brings me more joy than you know to see and THEN I'm also a big JJK fan, this is great!
Aw this warms my heart :,3 thank you ❤️
My only problem with this specific skill tree is that it seems to focus on recreating abilities from JJK instead of allowing players to actually customize the characteristics of their own domain. I would suggest reworking the skill tree to allow for the possibility of recreating those abilities, but not forcing them to take that route.
Im planning on starting to play dnd for the first time and getting it soon and im a huge jjk fan so when i saw this on my suggested page you know i gotta check it out
Aw that makes me so happy that it reached you 🥰
No lie great addition started dming homemade dnd games with my friends and took a lot of inspiration from anime since it’s something we all like and know a lot more about than standard dnd, and domains were one of the best additions making for some of the best moments we’ve had, if done right it can add a whole new element for the players to use as a last ditch effort of tactically used technique to overpowered an enemy while making some enemies a lot more fearsome and intriguing with it, it can also lead to moments where the group can gonna depend on it since they get overconfident making that moment when it fails or doesn’t go as planned feel truly fearful.
Aw that's brilliant to hear :3 also thank you

@@TheUglyGoblinI personally might lower the damage multipliers a bit but add something where if you get triple 777s you start healing a large amount at the beginning of each of your turns to mimic his “immortality” due to his reverse curse technique that he gets whenever he gets a jackpot. Would help offset the damage taken on failed rolls and to keep up the domain each round, since part of his abilities is being able to just keep rolling in his domain through a whole fight as long as he’s hitting jackpots.

Aw wow 🥺 thank you so much 😁
When I first know about Domain Expansions and what they do what come to my mind is the Lair system from Beast The Primordial. This is of course not a perfect 1 to 1 but I feel like its very similar (Not to mention the similarities between Curses and Horrors and that Sukuna can be considered as Yuji's Horrors)
Oh I don't know about Beast the Primordial :o
Great video man! I might pitch this to my players here soon, see if they are interested in adding it!
Oooo hell yeah :O would be so excited to hear how that goes!
This video was really helpful. I’ve been trying to make a domain system in D&D but it never truly worked but this is perfect. All my players and me included for the main antagonist got to make up their own cursed technique, the one i came up with is called raging curse: which in turn gives the user a constant output of cursed energy they constantly produce and leak cursed energy this basically makes it so every hit becomes a black flash and even the action of abruptly tensing the muscles is enough to trigger a black flash seeing as they will automatically leak cursed energy after the hit creating a black flash. It however also allows them to use black flash at a distance and even use a “white flash” using the reversal of his technique which disrupts someone elses cursed technique.
The domain expansion with this technique basically allowed the user to make there domain and in it a counter would appear above everyones head, in the domain no damage could be given or recieved by anyone and no effect of any cursed techniques would happen. The only thing that could occur in the domain where black flashes giving him a massive advantage seeing as the most consecutive black flashes anyone else has landed in the campaign (every time the roll a nat 20) is 3 and he constantly lands them. The black flashes wont deal damage immediately instead the counter above the person that got hit will go up and then when the domain ends it all the counted black flashes on one counter would double and thats the amoun of dammage the person whose counter it is would recieve.
This wasn’t very balanced though so this definitely helped with that
Aw that is so exciting to hear! Sounds like a very fun and action pact adventure :D
@@TheUglyGoblin wow didn’t expect you to reply. Big fan so this Made my day :)!
@@Recleansed1 Awwww :3 I try my best to reply to everyone if I can 🥰 so far that's been pretty possible :3
I actually have a JJK oc, who ive made a custom domain for, but luckily for me, it perfectly pairs with another one of my characters, cause he has similar powers, and got stuck in a demiplane that for just like how i made this domain
The domain, used by Chronurgy Wizard Therion Arcadon, is called The Shifting Sands of Time. It is a vast desert, stretching for miles upon miles, would probably make it boundless in this system. A large concentric metal ring wraps around all creatures in the domain, and begins to slowly tick, as an hourglass behind the user begins to run. Any creature within the domain begins to slow down, time gradually slowing to a crawl, with any loose objects (maybe projectiles or even ranged spells cause thatd be fun, though itd have to be like custom perks later on) stopping completely in place. This would start as a sure hit slow spell, but eventually, would fully stun/paralyze creatures (if possible, would do a thing where if the domain is active for 2 full rounds, on the 3rd round it gains the effects of infinite void, or would just have a aoe hold person, but it needs to be built up to, and doesnt automatically activate) The only unnafected creature is, of course, the caster, who is then able to attack creatures who slowly become less and less able to fight back. And those who try to flee will find that escaping the passage of time is a futile endeavor
This is honestly really really fun! So cool! I love it
You have my blessing!
Oh mah gosh uwu thank you Jesus xD
2 words: spike growth
Didn’t design this with DnD in mind but I’ve got a domain I’ve been itching to share, needs a name too so if anyone’s got any ideas lmk.
It takes the form of an amorphous chamber with a central panopticon tower. At the top of the tower is a large human eye where the torchlight would be. It is always looking at you, this applies to everyone in the domain even if they’re on opposite ends. You can try and get closer to the tower or walk away but it’ll stay the same distance away.
The effect is that it connects the mind of everyone inside the domain to the one who created it, and he can decide if it’s a one way (he knows what you think but you don’t know what he thinks) or two-way connection. This gives him perfect knowledge of every technique you use, exactly how you’ll use it, weaknesses, plans, everything and anything. If you think anything, he also thinks it.
The two way function can also be used to teach allies concepts like RCT by beaming the thought process directly into their heads so it’s good for training too.
Ooooo verrrry fun :D
Awesome to see this finally being out!
May I work on a sheet for it soon?
I mean- if that's what youd like to do! Go wild!
would definitely like a yuji/sukuna specific video, got a new sub either way tho!
Aw thank you so much :D
Domain expansion:
“Embodiment of infinite shrine of the idle death gamble”
That sure sounds like something fun to fight against.
Hahaha xD
Another great jjk video
Aw thank you so much:3
I have two dnd characters and the one I'm using right now if I were to make a domain for them (by my own way not the abilities of your skill tree) it would be a healish place that only he can survive in. The one I'm not using would probably judge the opponent or be something similar to how infinite void works.
Coool :D
I like the idea of making a warlock build with a custom subclass that focuses on physical combat with this. Why probably because of yuji and sukuna kinda being a pact anyways you would do more damage unarmed and if you so chose to you can add spells that count as unarmed damage as long as they are close enough to you but if they aren't you can deal damage with your spell casting modifers
Imagine seeing A goblin and just say "WITH THIS TREASURE I SUMMON! "
Haha poor guy be Blasted
I imagine a monk making one and calling it "Hell's Boxing Match" and dumping all the points into Physical and Malevolent Shrine and just killing 12 people in just 4 punches.
Heheheh that is So fun
Great video 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Aw thank you so so much 🥰
The first thing I thought of for the toll that domains inflict on the user was the exhaustion system that already exists. I feel like most people forget about it or just ignore it.
Nah i had considered it but it just imposes so many negative effects on you that it just nullifies nearly all of the benefits you get from the domin itself eventually
This domain pocket dimension idea showed up in the Chapter Black arc of YuYu Hakusho and in the Odyssey and Onslaught blocks of Magic the Gathering.
In YuYu Hakusho, the domains were powers that human characters showed up with. Each power was different but ran off the same rules. The character projected their domain rules out into the world around them and the laws of physics were changed based on the domain's gimmick. One guy was just a telepath. Another could bind anyone by touching their shadow. Another could set up rules that everyone had to follow or be banished to the shadow realm. Another replaced the laws of physics with the mechanics from video games.
Like with most of YuYu Hakusho all of these powers would later show up in Bleach.
The Magic the Gathering domain use was actually really interesting. Six card sets were set on the continent of Otaria on the plane of Dominaria. One faction on Otaria had a sect of nightmare summoners whose madness created personalized nightmare pocket dimensions. They could overlay the physics of their nightmare space onto the world around them to supercharge the way they move in the real world and summon twisted nightmare copies of creatures they've hunted, dissected, or slain and stored in their nightmare space.
Oh this is brilliant stuff! Thanks for sharing :D
Yeah haha the shonen line is just like one big evolutionary chain xD
One thing I would note is that domains don't have a set size on the outside, only the inside. Gojo was able to shrink his to the size of a basketball and it was mentioned others have the ability as well but it was a very advanced skill. This should also be a perk.
I'm aware :P but I think for dnd mechanics, there is very little use for something like that
@@TheUglyGoblinmakes that domain to make an little health room un middle of a Dungeon or adventure
You can give health and protects to your Friends but one person must charge the responsability of move It in his bag (for example)
Can be cool see a support domain
Instead of taking max HP for each turn, another option could be giving the User Exhaustion. Because if it was HP based then Casters would be severally disadvantaged in comparison to Melee classes, while Exhaustion would affect both equally
Mmmm I considered exhaustion but only after a few rounds all the benefits you gain from the domain are kinda nullified 🥲
Gonna disagree with casters getting screwed over, since generally martials also take more damage in combat, offsetting their high HP
So cool in my world we made something simalar yet different based on domains and reality marbes from fate.
Your domain is not crafted by your choices but by your soul.
Mecánicamente you craft it based on your characters most used abilitys and personality
Joy's Domain Expansion: Inner Workings of the Cursed One. Not only does it override and deconstruct other domains, it also subjects any creatures inside to the inner workings of Joy's mind, truly a hellscape of corpses, blood, and noise. Any damage Joy does in this domain deals psychic damage, as the attacks only affect the mind not the body.
Ohohooo sooo much fun 😍
My character see fighting as a dance, and her domain would be link to this.
The domain would be borderless and a large construction made of multiple instrument would appear making us hear a rythmique battle music.
Every turn every creature caught in the domain (me included) would have to spend a bonus action to make a "dance move" (Saving throw of dexterity or charisma with disadventage), if they fail or dont roll, they will have disadventage to all action in this turn.
My character would have the same rules but with adventage and if she succed she'll get back her bonus action (she's a monk and wothout bonus action a monk is pretty sad) all actions this turn will have adventage (and maybe bonus damage why not).
Aw that is so so fun 🤩
alright i got a funny one
Drill sargeants field
1 lvl borderless, a lot of boundless, then the sharing ability and environmental hazard, now this requires the enemy to move as much as they can in a straight line and take the dash bonus action, if they dont do this, they take increased forced dmg, the sharing is used to prevent this from affecting allies, and also works as a type of shield to spellcasters, after around turn 3 they may start making perception checks to discover this, and the discovery is forced after 7 rounds, the point is, will they waste their movement to not take extra dmg, but not deal it either unless they are lucky, or will they risk dealing dmg, but take some additional as well
since its a drill sargeant, the environmental dmg will be thunder dmg cuz screams
Aaaah I love that final detail xD so fun
Can I ask a question? How do I create unique and complex abilities without them being useless or game breaking?
I have an idea for the character that the bloodline ability of his family and his humble village comes from the bond between the individual and his "soul musical instrument" (I have to think of a better name for that), and that bond occurs in a ceremony sacred, where the moment the individual makes the bond it can never be undone (this ceremony takes place when the individual is very young, like 2 to 3 years old).
One day, when this character turned 3 years old, his parents went to a local store to buy the ingredients for the cake while the village was preparing the ritual. He was enchanted by a sound made up of powerful notes, at the moment his parents were distracted. he went in the direction of the sound, after a while, when his parents noticed his absence, they became desperate and began to search everywhere using their improved hearing and heard the sound of a child crying, their child. Arriving at the place they They found their baby in pain, as an old man was trying to remove his cassette player from the child's body, but now it was too late, as this object had already become part of the child's body and soul.
(Now is the part I'm having difficulty with)
The cassette player has become something different, special and unpredictable. It randomly plays 3 types of melodies, one being energizing and happy, one slow and melodic and one with a happy rhythm, but which brings a huge void. The character has 3 postures within a fight and he will have to make do with what he has, if he really needs it he can change to a posture he wants by force, but it will cause considerable damage to his mind, and the more levels he has the lower the be the damage of changing postures.
In his energetic stance, I thought of him using a conductor's baton and using the ability to use the static energy around him to control the air, thus firing blasts of sound or increasing the air pressure in a specific location with the aim of crush someone against the ground or throw someone away for example. In the melodramatic stance the character would use a Lyre to heal his allies and at extremely high levels it would be possible to cause damage to enemies, like when the jjk angel used his final attack against the sukuna His last stance would be the violin, which would basically use its notes to scratch the enemy's soul, causing debuffs.
Is this character a bad idea?
I would be very grateful if you could help me. Since I have several ideas for characters that I can't put down on paper, like a character who has his powers derived from water.
Who can create puddles of water and teleport between them or Create Cages/large whirlpools of water that trap enemies, like Juvia (Fairy Tail), Create large domes like Noelle (Black Clover), Be able to manipulate huge waves, pressurizing drops of water capable of piercing anything and manipulating tentacles like Katara (Avatar).
I've also seen several D&D characters who use shadows for their attacks, but never THE SHADOWS THEMSELVES to attack, it would be cool to see a mix between pride (Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood) and Natch (Black Clove).
Another idea that I would love to put into practice are characters that use a board to summon and control soldiers like Azir (League of Legends) and Princia Funnybunny (Black Clover),where the names of the skills would be chess strategies or some other board game
I think a lot of you answers can ve solved through clever spell choices, and probably selecting the likes of a bard for the guy who has the bloodline technique. Choose healing spells and sound themed spells etc and then just reflavour things a bit. I don't think you need to come up with anything crazy new. Just be creative with your descriptions and reasonings
My character is named Nibs. Say hi to Nibs.
Nibs’ Domain would be known as Shadow Of Chaos. It’s be a simple Domain, a completely black void that is nearly impossible to see in. Why? Because there’s no light. Only creatures with Darkvison can see. And what they see around them is the bones of a dragon, probably before they get hit in the face by a non-avoidable spell, thanks to the auto-hit. If they survive a spell, then there might be slashes instead, or a blunt strike, or basically any other type of damage, due to the fact that Nibs is a Wild Magic Sorcerer. The backstory on how that happened is not important, but what this means for the Domain is that every time he tries to attack with anything, it might do another type of damage. For example, Nibs’ main weapon(outside of spells, of course) is a Light Crossbow, which deals 1d6 piercing damage. In this Domain, it might do another type of damage, like 1d6 slashing damage. The only reason that the backdrop is a dead dragon skeleton surrounded by darkness, by the way, is because he’s a Dragonborn.
Cool :3
I think you should look into Mutants and Masterminds 3e. I think Domain Expansions would work great in that system. It’s DnD but superheroes
Oh fuuun :D
My domain, "They took my organs!" It's a sketchy doctors office.
Hahahaha xD oh nooooo
Feel good about this one >:D
Me 2 Me
I would have applied a once per long rest effect and exhaustion effects after domain end depending on how many rounds the domain was active, up to 5.
The problem with exhaustion is it nullifies almost all of the benefits of the domain after only a few rounds. Kinda making the whole process useless
@@TheUglyGoblin thus why exhaustion is applied after the domain drops. It makes the gamble a vital one, as failing to stop your opponent means putting yourself in lethal as opposed to tough feat/barb focus and/or dip facetanking the detrimental effects. A wizard/sorc using a max health loss mechanic like this might outright die using it to begin with, especially if rolling for health and if unlucky.
Another alternative is consuming actual hitdice to persist, kind of like a ki point system, so short rests don't provide as much respite and making long rests a necessity.
@@twisvis5531 Oh shoot thats actually a really fun idea! Missed that detail!
I have a fomrer pirate captain who is striving to become a better person with each level
His domain would probably be the deck of a ship with a ring of faceless pirates keeping the enemies close to them, canceling magic and forcing them to a 'honorable' duel
I would probably dump points into the crit boost one, flavor it as its his ship, and you cant beat a captain in their own turf or something
Oh I adore this!
@@TheUglyGoblin thanks!
The captain is actually the first DND character I made years ago so I always enjoy bringing them back and finding new ways to tell their story
Genuinely neat and well-thought-out system, super flavorful and I love every bit of it. Gold Rush is definitely overpowered, though. Creatures need to have a CR of at least 1, and make it a max of 100 damage instead of 1000. 1000 damage "for free" is insane, lol. Even 100 is crazy considering whatever you murder just turns into another pile of 100 damage.
Oh sugar I thought I did max it out at 100! Haha my bad xD
Also thank you so so much :3
JJK may be hype, but it's got NOTHING on the hype I feel every time there's a new Ugly Goblin video.
Oh my gosh 😭 you gonna make me cry!
I have a character called human the human fighter (hes a monk) and his domain is king of the ring, basically powering either him or his opponent up, and his domain only pulls in one person said person doesnt have to be within the radius of the domain, they just have to be in his sight.
That's kinda funky xD love their name xD
Im not the greatest at naming characters or attacks so i just went with what he is
I think I mentioned this in your last Domain video: but I think one additional cost and associated benefit I’d add to Domains is to have them exhaust all Spell slots and any other ‘X times per short/long rest’ abilities the Domain caster has. In exchange, the Domain allows you to use all of those abilities without limit inside of it.
(Well, maybe a few limits on the higher end stuff. Even at as high a level you’d need to be for it, casting Wish every turn is probably too much under any circumstances.)
Would this be remotely balanced? Idk, I’m just throwing ideas out. But it would be generally accurate to how Domains and their side effects work in JJK.
[Manga spoilers below.]
It would also recontextualize that thing Gojo did fighting Sukuna to seem extra absurd when applied to DnD mechanics. Because he figured out a way to take a long rest in just a few rounds…Mid-combat…as a bonus action.
He is the most broken man to ever live.
Mmmm feel free to add it to your games!
To say that JJK goes hard in its animation is factual.
To say it goes hard in its characters and story when it's literally called Lobotomy Kaisen by a large part of the community is just another Lobotomy Kaisen meme.
I think it 100% inspiration from other manga series- but I've also seen this done poorly. JJK really does it well. And the story that it tells is so good. I think that's what counts
Nothing to do with this one, but its your most recent post. A suggestion for your upcoming live. Maybe make multiple starting points for bass "jobs" for the classless skill tree. May be against the whole point of it. But having like 4 or so starting points can set up an early character but still have they chain together to make an interesting customization.
I got plans ;3
Hp is bad thing to take off
I would punish the stats instead and only after domain expures as gojo said your domain gives you also a physical boost, so makes no sense to make you weaker constantly
We even saw all negative effects hit you AFTER domain disperses
Should also be more like long rest, Mahito said he is recovering for 10 days after domain expansion to FULLY recover
Oh! Good to know!
Man that looks so fun i just have to know what the heck is dnd systems and gameplay
Durandus'es domain is called infinite forage he gains access to any one weapon of his choosing he gains proficiency in that weapon and has the level of master of a master of that weapon would have
Heheh fun :3
Thinking of reworking the -10 to maintain a domain to instead being:
- (5 x your prof mod)
OR
Expending a 3rd level spell slot or higher
This is really cool, I just think it feel a bit... punishing? like yeah it's strong, but the reduced maximum HP feels like a bit much, it also means a barbarian or a fighter will be able to do domain expansion for longer then a wizard, which doesn't feel right. Honestly the once per short/long rest(or more with specific upgrades) is good enough limit for me, like dragon breath for dragonborns, it's a powerful ability that you have to save because you only get one shot at using it.
if you wanted to add more difficulty? I'd say make it interruptible. The whole reason mahito's domain was able to be puled off, was because he had a way of using it that was super fast and stealthy. Make it have a one round activation price(if someone breaks your concentration, maybe then you lose max HP), maybe with some upgrades you could change that the the end of the enemies next turn, or have a quick activation(maybe a reaction instead of an action?) that then uses the max HP reduction setup.
Someone also suggested that you gain levels of exhaustion for each round of the domain being active but you only recieve them when you drop the domain :3 could do that
@@TheUglyGoblin I did see that, and I think that's valid too! I mean ultimately, TTRPGs are all about fun and creativity,
Whatever fits your group.
Huh, this is funy, me and my table was straight up having a Jjk esque battle system, it's not called Jujutsu persay, its basically like the limbo yknow the state between of life and death thing, basically in my dm's setting that place is like a whole dimension, there's or rather used to be "people" Civilization and stuff, world building aside, essentially we're fighting a group of Most likely dubious morally group of people that we dubbed the limbo manipulator (i know very creative) Essentially they did something and now the world or rather the multiple planes is in peril, also they send in people called divers to the limbo to grab materials and stuff, it's basically easy mode adventurers in that setting, (there's supposed to be practically nothing in terms of danger in the limbo) anyhow im getting distracted again, yeah so the people can use Domain expansions like, the enemy i mean, the players don't have them (yet?) we do have simple domains though. first dude we fought was basically choso on crack. he a monk sorcerer thing (im not sure the DM didn't tell me) he was using bubble of blood to shoot out blood at us, he can also throw hands. we won barely, because my character dropped her house on her (it's a magic item it's something something fortress) and he was simply not expecting that and we won because of that.
I love the idea of dropping a house on someone xD
@@TheUglyGoblin Yeah, i finally found the magic item:
DAERN’S INSTANT FORTRESS
Wondrous Item, rare
You can use an action to place this 1-inch metal cube on the ground and speak its command word. The cube rapidly grows into a fortress that remains until you use an action to speak the command word that dismisses it, which works only if the fortress is empty.
The fortress is a square tower, 20 feet on a side and 30 feet high, with arrow slits on all sides and a battlement atop it. Its interior is divided into two floors, with a ladder running along one wall to connect them. The ladder ends at a trapdoor leading to the roof. When activated, the tower has a small door on the side facing you. The door opens only at your command, which you can speak as a bonus action. It is immune to the knock spell and similar magic, such as that of a chime of opening.
Each creature in the area where the fortress appears must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw, taking 10d10 bludgeoning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. In either case, the creature is pushed to an unoccupied space outside but next to the fortress. Objects in the area that aren't being worn or carried take this damage and are pushed automatically.
The tower is made of adamantine, and its magic prevents it from being tipped over. The roof, the door, and the walls each have 100 hit points, immunity to damage from nonmagical weapons excluding siege weapons, and resistance to all other damage. Only a wish spell can repair the fortress (this use of the spell counts as replicating a spell of 8th level or lower). Each casting of wish causes the roof, the door, or one wall to regain 50 hit points.
The dm lets me to throw it as well, i mean it is a small object right?
@@TheUglyGoblin update on the campaign: she landed 4 blackflashes in 1 combat encounter 1 against a fodder orc, 2 against a big orc who got hit with critical deflect missile. 2 against the leader orc against the leader that finished the fight. Pretty hype. Also because of that she unlocked simple domain and RTC. Also our bard is very traumatized.
@@warclock3224 wicked :P
a little intricacy of expanding a domian is that, in lore, if someone were to somehow steal a person's body (assuming they're also stealing their magic and all that) and then uses a DE, the appearance of the domain would be the same as if the person controlling the body were to use a domain, while the actual effects would be the same as if the body was using a DE (I hope I explained that correctly)
okay this isn't entirely correct, but think of how (manga spoilers)
Okkotsu can use any one of his techniques that he has stored but the appearance always stays the same
Oh that's very interesting :3 thanks for that tid bit!
Excellent video, my only gripe is JJK does not have a "hard magic" system. Abilities change mechanics and power just because the author wants them too lmao
That's fair haha I was on the fence about that note. It certainly has elements of both hard and soft magic, but yeah- esspecially as you continue to read the manga, the system progressively gets "softer"
Also thank you so much 🥰
I would love to see your take on how to incorporate nen from HunterxHunter. I’m currently trying this in my campaign and so far 3 of my players have taken the water divination test: an enhancer, transmuter, and manipulator
Aw so wicked :3 mmm I haven't watched enough HxH to do it justice I think but I'm sure someone out there will ;3
Idk if you’re a One Piece fan but I would love to see you tackle Haki and devil fruits, (Def not bc I’m starting a OP inspired campaign soon lol)
I would love to but I have watched so little of the show/read very little of the manga to do it justice.
BUT I have found some amazing pdfs out there where people have homebrewed it beautifully
Thank youuuuu
Awww an absolute pleasure :D
3:43 --- 3:46 yo thank gave me quick flash backs of skibidi toilet, bro i thought i was about to die
Hahaha xD I'm glad you didn't die uwu
@@TheUglyGoblin lol
Hey, could you do something related to Mahito from Jujutsu Kaisen? I really like the concept of his abilities.
I mean I see him as like- a transmutation mage- or even a moon druid? With a loooot of polymorph :P
@TheUglyGoblin I was reffering to homebrew, but this also seems pretty cool
777 and Courtroom, while fun for the user, sound exhausting for other players for how long they would take to use while playing.
Potentially yes haha though coild make for some very cool roleplay opportunities. But that's a fair point :P but like I said- gott please the manga fans too :3
U should make a playlist for ur jjk content
Oh true haha I had that thought :P Though I think this'll be the last, at least for awhile
this needs to be a mod in baldur's gate
Haha would be insane xD replace the tadpoles with this
TheUglyGoblin seems to like pretty star shapes. 🤩🌟
I dubeth theeth, a Skill Star
Oh mah gosh uwu genius!!!! 🤩
I'm literally liking, subbing, and subscribing because he told people to leave mid video. Isn't that like.. bad for your viewership numbers???
Hahahaha did I? XD oops
19:52 That reminds me of an ability from Bungo Straydogs
What is That? :o
@@TheUglyGoblin I thinks is Fitzgerald’s ability or smthn
On the one hand, the flat HP cost is a pretty decent buff to martials, on the other, sure-hit on some spells…oh boy
Right! I love that theres benefits to almost everything here :3 so no path feels redundant
@@TheUglyGoblin And you can craft some crazy shenanigans, like a maxxed malevolent shrine with increased area. Bonkers enough by itself, but if you stack up smites on top…
@@findalfin3243 oh yeah! Scary stuff! But I suppose JJK is pretty terrifying xD these skill trees should obviously be added to games with a warning sticker xD
So are the HP max reductions *only* curable through long rests? Greater Restoration does not affect them? I do understand the logic of making them exhausting, but Greater Restoration is essentially DnD's equivalent to high-level RCT, so I would be in favor of GR undoing the exhaustive effects
Yeah I don't have any hard rulings on my own mind on that :3 I think if I was DMing I might get the player to make an additional arcana check or something but I'm happy with peopling ruling that the spell works :3 totally depends what vine you're going for in your game.
Perhaps greater restoration only restores 10 of your missing max hp?
