Yep they wander through our neighborhoods like that where I live in The Hill Country here in Texas. Everyone feeds them and we get to watch all the fawns all spring and summer. Cute little buggers lol.
@@kerrytoby7041 He already addressed this in a previous video, the issue with making a relatively small body of water (like this pond) really deep is theres not enough water circulation in those deep areas. This can cause a ton of low oxygen water to build up in those deep areas, and when the temperature becomes cooler in the fall all that deoxygenated water rises to the surface and can kill all your fish.

Hey y'all i have a suggestion for your overflow pipe. you may want to place mesh screen around the that drain valve. when you lower the pond level a lot of fish will go down stream when you open it. lowering 2 feet of water over 5 acres is a lot of cubic feet of water. love the build, can't wait to get started on my 4 acre pond.
@@stuwest5862 I agree, you can't put it on the valve. it would also impede the operation of the valve. but you can build a re-bar type basket that is spaced out away from the valve and surrounds it. @@stuwest5862 thanks for the info! sounds to me like it would have been better to put in a larger discharge pipe through the dam to match the diameter of vertical level pipe, do away with the manual gate valve and make sure you have a good quality cage/scupper on top to catch debris at the surface. You should place a mechanical 'Loch Ness Monster Head' in the lake that is triggered and pops up out of the water whenever uninvited anglers come around. That'll end their poaching real quick!
Being that the throne is a root system, it is created too, and has been absobing water, for years. It's make up is to absorb. Therefore it will not float. The chemical make up of the throne is root made to anchor the tree. On a side note, you should check into setting up an auto fill system via the well. So, if you get a hot dry summer of little rain when the level gets to low the system triggers the well to fill the pond. Does 2 things. Keeps the water fresh and aerates the pond. You also should consider some type of an aerator to help circulate the water. Bait fish love bubbles! Don't forget the name " Water of Life Pond" (day 2 build comment)

You can plant Carolina Gold Heirloom Rice in the pond and the ducks will feed off of this. You can also sell these rice seeds for $2 per gram or harvest for your food. A shoreline rice crop will give protection for your bait fish and strengthen your walls.
Just random cinder blocks thrown and stacked everywhere will be plenty cover for fish and its cheap. All the fish farms around me use them in their giant pools to keep the fish safe from birds and from the sun. Works great!
You have to be careful, using organic as much as possible is best, cinder blocks have alot of chemicals that throw of PH, given it would be diluted but it's best to use natural when able.
