Considering Top Gun released in May of 1986 and Galaxy Rangers debuted in September 1986, I think you're giving the film to much credit for inspiration. You don't dash out a quality animated series in 4 months.

This cartoon deserves either a continuation or a modern remake. Heck the plot of this series is so good it might even be able to make the jump to a live action adaptation. A smart company would jump all over this property.

Yea, I remember watching this as a kid. If Kevin Feigie knows what's good for him, he should by this IP immediately.
A Live action Galaxy Rangers movie, produced by the Russo brothers and directed by Taika Watiti is a sure billion that doesn't affect the MCU.
It's got that 80's retro vibe. A band of misfits. Spaceships. Cowboys. Strong female characters.
It's got a black nerd, who is also the comic relief . Funny aliens for Instant merch.
Enough obscurity to be hip but not sacred to any army of rabid fanboys. It's Star Wars without the baggage.
It's also quite patriotically American while being inclusive and diverse.
It's "fast and furious" in space.
    It's got rock.
    It's got EDM.

This show came out when I was nine years-old, I loved it. It probably will never get rebooted because it was a stand alone show without any association with a bigger franchise so the mainstream fanfare and popularity just isn't there. But thanks to the internet and DVD, the few fans this show has can relive their childhood fantasies over and over again.

Q-Ball is an actual character who is the brainiac in the goggles you had on-screen in other parts of the video. I remember watching this classic anmie series on Chicago-area cable-TV, but I think it was called 🤔, " Sabre Rider and The Star Sherriffs In The Sky !. " Is this the same series ?

They got the hyperdrive for hyperspeed not lightspeed...Lightspeed is nearly useless in space. Even with lightspeed you would need multiple years of flight to the next system

Maleficent.... You mean the evil queen?
It's cool you guys made this video but it's not cool to talk about something you almost don't have clue about 😉
Jaime Foxx actually had openly mention adopting the name or getting inspiration from great comedian Red Foxx.
This video was great about creating fake facts and barely misinforming about a show clearly hasn't watch by whoever wrote it.
Even the Wiki it's way better than this.
    Missed opportunity.

You missed one they stole: Thunderbirds 2086.
Also, you forgot to pour every kind of syrup on your rack.

Thunderbirds 2086 was a piece of garbage that had nothing to do with the Thunderbirds series. It was a bad repackaging of the Anime series Science Rescue Team Techno Voyager.

@@gouryg4774 One woman's garbage is another man's treasure. I loved that show because it never insulted my intelligence. Can you think of any other hard science fiction animated show? The use of CGA was innovative, but the theme song vocal for the original Japanese show was so awful I think the ITV version is an improvement, especially thanks to occasional references to hard science fiction movies like 2001. So what if it had nothing to do with a puppet show from the '60s?

Someone should get the rights and hand this property over to Luc Besson to see what he can do with a live action plan.

Animated space western = Saber Riders and the Star Sheriffs (a Voltron styled show), although this one does come close. There's also Space Adventure Cobra, but that's straight up psychedelic.

My favorite american animated TV show from the 1980s part fist full of dollars, part star wars, star trek and a touch of everything else. with a great soundtrack. sadly only 1 season and basically no merchandise support.
