The Shangri-La is an oasis on the Chao Phraya River.

I stayed here for about a week in 1987 with my father and his wife.. there’s a lot of familiar things in your clip, such as the shapes and dimensions of the building and the room ,but also most of it is different too .. I remember feeling it was quite a special and very luxurious establishment, and of course the service and food was well beyond anything we usually experienced in the UK back in those days . It’s good to see that the hotel still has a great look and remains popular today , but seems a little shadowy in many of your shots . I was a very young man in 1987, but of course I have some good memories of my stay in the Shangri-La Bangkok . Thanks for posting this video .. 🙏..

I stay here quite often. Its great value for money compared to the Oriental next door. Almost direct access to Saphan Taksin BTS and the pier, so great for getting around.
The gym is nice and swimming pool too.

The firm of Leese Robertson Freeman needs to up its game and work on (learn camera settings) better lighting. Too many dark interior views! There are many other hotels with nicer amenities for half the price all along the river.
Sounds like a great opportunity for you to make videos highlighting those other hotels.
Not centrerly located. Closer the College than anything. Very cheap rooms. Going to need a taxi to get to the skytrain.
I suppose cheap is relative. There are certainly more expensive hotels in the vicinity. The Peninsula is right across the river.
Personally, I like the location. It's in one of my favorite parts of Bangkok. But you will have to travel to get to the shopping of Siam or the nightlife of Sukhumvit. Luckily, you can reach the Silom BTS line by the Saphan Taksin BTS station, which is right next to the Sathorn pier and a five-minute walk from Shangri-La.
Wtf the hotel is literally 100m which is 2min walk from saphan taksin bts station. U have no clue what ur talking about
sadly so overpriced and the breakfast buffet is like a cattle call..even the afternoon free tea n snack resto is no longer…too bad..
