The band was so happy when they did the final take of the video, because Freddie was exausted and needed a rest. But he demanded to do a retake of the "I still love you" because he realized this would be his last time infrot of a camera ever, so he wanted to do it better ... and he did

When Freddie got real sick, the doctor advised everyone that Freddie may not see Christmas 1990. But Freddie still continued as best he could. Such a brave man wanting to keep singing even though he faced his own mortality, not knowing if he had weeks or months left. In May 1991, Freddie sang his last lyrics ever to their last song called Mother Love. Use the lyrics video. Freddie said he would come back when he felt up to it, he never came back, dying in November 1991. Brian and the boys revisited it much later after his death where Brian sung the last verse. It was released in 1995. Freddie was so ill here as he could barely stand... he would sit at the mixing desk to sing. Also check The Show Must go on... as his voice, at his dying days is outstanding...Brian didn't think Freddie would be able to sing it.. but Freddie said "I'll fu**ing do it darling" and downed a vodka and slayed that hard part in the song. Freddie still while dying produced better singing than some singers today in full health. It's awful to see this, but very brave of Freddie at the same time. Shot in black and white due to his ailing condition. Brian said it was Freddie's last goodbye to his fans.

Freddie adored his cats and someone made the fabric for his vest with the images of his own cats. It is fitting that he should wear this vest in his last video as a tribute to his cats who laid beside him until the very end. I read that Freddie's last physical movement was him stroking one of his cats and then he passed. This song was written by Roger and was actually written about his kids but it took on a whole different life and meaning during and after this video. This video always makes me cry and smile. I smile because you can see that no matter how sick Freddie was, he still wanted to sing and I cry because he is physically a shadow of the man we all watched for 20 years. Thank you for reacting to this song.

Band members later said in interviews how difficult this was to film. As sick as Freddie was, his voice continued to be incredible. About this time, he had lost part of his foot to complications from AIDS. At some point, he was also suffering from some blindness in one eye. Yet, he sang his heart out until he literally couldn't sing the last verse of his last recorded song. Freddie represents more then music. He is the living embodiment of the greatest part of the Human Spirit. Another song that I cannot listen to without crying. Great reaction.

@@susieq9801 You’re so right! The social reaction was schizophrenic at worst, a collective society in utter denial at best...and in America, a superstar athlete suddenly & without any preparation, retired from the NBA, and would end his career immediately? Magic Johnson had acquired the HIV. As Freddie sang about it being time to go and face the truth, Magic did exactly that. His employer, the L.A. Lakers & the NBA, refused to permit him to play in the league. Period! Another complication, was an upcoming Olympic Games. They permitted Magic to play. The result, first time professional players were allowed to participate. The USA called its team, The Dream Team. They routinely won with margins of 40 or more points. Ultimately there were no problems from that decision to allow Magic to play. If good came of his situation, it was the development of more medicines that addressed the disease in other ways.

When I first saw this video, I couldn’t believe it could be Freddie. The band's manager arranged an animated video because of Freddie's seriously bad condition, but Freddie didn't want to say goodbye to the world as a pencil drawing. He wore cashmere underwear because he was always very cold due to the high weight loss.
Freddie had an extremely strong personality, he was never regretted anything, he was never complaining about anything, he was living for the music. His illness could only break him very late, he gave up the fight only when he could no longer sing, after Mother Love which he couldn't finish. Don't forget to check it out.

Freddie is considered the greatest front man ever and for good reason. As for Brian May is considered one of the best and one of the best examples of his skill with a guitar is the song Bijou. Other song you should check out Sheer Heart Attack, Dragon Attack,Save Me,Great King Rat,March of the Black Queen,Ogre Battle which was the inspiration for the Ogre Battle video game series. Other songs The Millionaire Waltz,Man On The Prowl,Is This The World We Created. I'll stop there for now but I will say that you should listen to the studio version of there songs first. Queen is amazing live but they used a lot of layering in there music and I think it's better to hear what they intended first then watch the live later to see how they make work without the layering it just shows you that much more on how great they as a band. On a side note how awesome would it have been to hear Freddie and Barry Gibb sing together.

70 year old country woman from the south here. Yes this beautiful pure soul had so many lesions covering his body, and he was in such extreme pain. Myself and others like me believe that really and truly the only reason that Freddie Mercury lived as long as he did was because of his love of music and his fans. Freddy could always feel the waves of love coming from his fans is he sang for them. The music and the love from his fans help bolster his strength. Needless to say though music was his life. That's why he was still able to compose and sing music even when he couldn't physically get up.😢😢😢 I've said it before and I'll say it again. Yes my God can be a God a vengeance, BUT he is a most loving God.❤❤❤ My God does not judge you on what you look like or who you are. My God looks into the heart and soul of people and he sees the spirit of the person that he looks at. 🙏🙏🙏😢😢😢💔💔💔. R.I.P. 🌠🌠🌠🎵🎼🎵🥀🌹. Freddie Mercury was a pure beautiful spirit, God's own shooting star 🌠🌠 . The beauty and brilliance of that star makes us gaze up with Wonder, unfortunately as with all shooting stars they don't last long. Although in our memories they will last forever. May you fly on the wings of a dove, we miss you truly Freddy😢😢😢😢😢❤❤❤❤. After No One But You (Only The Good Die Young) this one is a direct punch to the heart I don't wanna imagine the pain Freddie was in since he was seriously ill and he looked super thin I admire Freddie's willingness to not mourn and whine and keep working and producing until he could no longer take the pain anymore this song alongside the tribute made for him years later songs that will bring the tears out of you

Show Must Go On is another that makes me cry.
The band did the studio mixing for these tracks after Freddie died. I can't imagine how emotional that must have been.

I remember seeing the video at 12 years old and knowing that he was saying goodbye to his fans. Everytime I see the video or hear the song I cry. He was so weak but pushed through for this video. The makeup is so heavy to cover up the Kaposi sarcoma lesions. My Aunt was a hospice nurse for AIDS patients in the 80s and 90s. Most of these men and women were disowned and abandoned by their own family. She not only gave them comfort in their final days but she treated them with love and dignity. She also volunteered at a clinic that treated patients with HIV/AIDS. I named my daughter, my only child after her.

you can see them kind of look over at Freddie to see how he was holding up, the disease had taken so much from him by this point, but he still had that voice. First time or hundredth time hearing this, you still get choked up especially when he says I still love you

I'm so glad that Freddie found the strength and courage to finish all the tracks on the Innuendo album (their best, I think). And Brian May is a beautiful guitarist. His guitar work sounds like no one else's. And now we have these videos where we can re-visit the beautiful music Queen produced. I'm not sure how long it was after the Innuendo album that Freddie finally passed. I hope he knows that we, his fans, still love and miss him. Bless his soul.

This was his last video. He was very sick here. Could barely stand because the horrible condition his foot was in. He spent several hours in the makeup chair to cover up the cancer's on his face. They also put A filter over to hide the condition of his face

Sweetheart it's actually a love letter. That's why it hits your 💙 so hard baby boy. His daddy did maybe wasn't always what he should have been. You are though. Don't ever be weak and give into temptation i implore you. You impress me because you know the the difference between 👉 and wrong. Hold that line, please. I Know i don't know you personally but i do at the same time. There's a song you need to hear. It's called Alone Again Naturally. Be strong and be safe i love you very much.

Mother love, was the last song that Freddie recorded, but he could not finishing the lyrics, the last part of the song Brian May sung it. That song is heartbreaking, and of course the very last song from Queen, their tribute song to Freddie.. No one but you.. those songs .. shivers and goosebumps..

If you have dreams, if you have plans, if you have any desire for enlightenment or discovery - Go. Do it now. Live it now - because no one knows how long we'll remain in existence and there's no time to waste. Everybody has a talent. Believe in yourself and develop that talent soon enough and you'll be able to spend the most time possible sharing *your* gift with others like Mr. Mercury was brave enough and talented enough to do even in the face of his own imminent demise. Missing you, Mr. Mercury. R.I.P.

This song was written by the drummer Roger Taylor. He said he knew Freddie was very ill and was reflecting on his and life in general. In any case, Roger sings this song very well too and there are videos of him singing it later on TH-cam.

This just hurts. I miss seeing Freddie alive. He didn't live to get the better meds, the ones that messed me up for a while, but which saved my life. One almost killed me at 29. Another cost my my hips at 33. But now, I'm 53, the meds are much less toxic, and I am alive and well. And grateful. And singing with the Knoxville Gay Men's Chorus. But man... There's an old protest sentence that describes me: "All I want is a cure, and my friends back."

Roger Taylor wrote this song about his children and it goes perfectly with Freddie's last days and his health condition.
What a strong man he was. ❤🤴
Brian is one of the most respected guitarists in the world.

I loved Fred and I remember when I first seen this vid it broke my heart, I think we all knew Fred didn't have long left, plus at that time I remember the press would not leave him alone hanging around his home horrible things been printed about him. It was unjust and so unfair. He truly was a one off and his voice incredible live.❤️

Written originally by Rodger for his children - but as you can see it took on a totally different context - The very final words Freddie put in himself for Family, Friends & Fans - to say goodbye & thank you 😢 - Cuts deeply today!

Before Freddie was famous he said." I'm not going to be a rock star...I'm going to be a legend". He was right. Even to the last thing he ever said on film ..." I still love you" was to his fans because he knew he was going to leave us. I feel sad every time I see this one too
