Jesus, this entire run is so fucked, using noelle to kill everyone, having her kill her best friend, then the shaking text when she realizes that you are wearing her watch, and it wasn't a dream
A horror story coming to life. Remember that Noelle watched horror movies with Kris. Easy to get frightened, but grew comfortable if not nostalgic so long as Kris is there to watch along. Kris did a lot of stuff with others. Catti's occult studies, Bratty's questionable requests, "Burgerpants" pick up attempts, Alvin's sunday choir and his sick juice punch...
@@Zeforas Honestly makes the route even more screwed up, it not just Noelle who were traumatizing it’s also Kris. Imagine being in Kris shoes as some unknown entity puppets your body to force your best friend to murder people. This straight reminds me of the movie Get Out.

But in Snowgrave when you have it on Kris however it basically confirms what happened to her and how she was in Cyber City WASN'T a dream unlike how she thinks it in the Pacifist Run, meaning she killed many people AND her friend who was dead with in front of her upon "waking up" and was essentially groomed/warped by the player into a merciless killer who asks to kill more and that affects her even in the overworld (in a lesser case since she has no magic in the overworld, but she uses "Iceshock" constantly in her game next time we see her)... and now *she cannot take it all back*, all because se that damn watch is still on her now equally traumatized childhood friend.
This is by far the most _chilling_ scene Toby has ever made, while it's not quite as bad as a situation as in the No Mercy Route the implications and focus of it are way harsher, it goes into a lot more deeper and has a much stronger psychological impact. No Mercy was Dark but this is just excessive cruelty focused on one of the most pure and sweet natured people in the game and absolutely breaking her spirit while conditioning her to be your servant. Straight up messed up, went pretty far into things and shows Toby has great potential in terms of the psychological side of horror. He's certainly improved since the Halloween Hack that's for sure, this is Drakengard style stuff.

NieR is also really dark and depressing at points, but Drakengard is known to be a lot more brutal and twisted and explicit, Drakengard 1 on PS2 infamously has a party memember who's a cannibal and eats children, and most of the other party members aren't much better in morals. NieR is widely considered the better series, but I specified Drakengard for the spesific brand of uncomfortable twisted abuse and manipulation a mind f@$k. Also Toby Fox and Yoko Taro are actually friends with each other and fans of each other's series, NieR 1 was also one of the first games to question the logic of heroes killing enemies across their journey and if characters who commited those actions would deserve a happy ending.
"In your dream" feels much more malicious than "Because it wasn't a dream"- While the dialogue without the watch was simply telling Noelle the blunt truth(while reading her thoughts), this one was that PLUS *mocking* her fantasy that it was all just a dream. I think it's because the Player had to have known what would happen during SnowGrave in this one. We'd have to know the normal ending first, and then take Noelle's watch to check a different outcome.
My take on it (as well as one specific part of the end of Ch. 2) is: At the end, we see Kris (without the SOUL) open the door to the house. We know that the following day is Church, and we can assume since Noelle's friends with Kris, that they'd probably invite them to Church. The door opening could be to bait Noelle into the house, thus entering the Dark World.

I think what makes it a bit more disturbing is that Kris isn't even on board with the players decisions, Susie noting when you meet back up at Queens castle that he looks off/flustered. And then in the Spamton NEO fight hes desperately calling out to Susie and Ralsei for help, only being saved from certain doom when "we" whisper Noelles name.

With Noelle however, it's "You" whispering. Kris didn't want the player to do that to her one more time, but that's the even worse disturbing thing is it? Kris's actions once you're playing the soul, unlike the player's actions despite what has been said, the former's **do not matter**. And the only means to get by that final battle when nothing else works in it, is none other but to ruin Noelle's psyche for good even if it means getting past Kris's wish to not do that and later implied to be a entirely separate malicious entity in the process.. It's mega fucked up, if Toby wanted to write an alternate route as a horror story, he succeeded.
I like how the whole run is literatlly just "literally mentally scar a person the entire run and then casually goes it wasn't a dream at the end". I really like the dialogue options that change absolutely nothing in this run, like the one here which you can choose to just be silent or straight up telling her "it's real, be afraid" and nothing really happens but deep down you know she ain't gonna get a good sleep that night.
@Albin Karlsson I think having other characters in the party reacting to your change of attitude in many way make this run hits harder than that of undertale's genocide route, especially since after that you're still potrayed at the "hero" and the ending is pretty much exactly the same except only Noelle knows about what happened.
Actually I noticed something, So I did the math, there are 9 students. not including kris, Susie, and Noelle, there are 6, and not including berdly there are 5. And there are 5 more chapters after chapter 2 of deltarune, I think I know what Toby is doing

Better off not doing it even if you changed your mind. It's very annoyingly controlling over what you have to do. I had to do it 3 whole times because I have to do this or that in a specific way and the game gives no implication that I had to do that.
Nothing like abusing a innocent person into turning an innocent salesman into a ring, commiting genocide, then forcing them to kill their best friend, then further taunting them by showing them it wasn’t just “all a dream”. I doubt there’s a way to keep the idea that your choices don’t matter after this, because clearly they do.

I really think that as happened in chapter 1 your decisions will not matter, Berdly maybe fall asleep more than usual yknow, and noelle... the truth is that the snowgrave route hurts me emotionally is very disturbing or sad, but let's see what happens in future chapters.
I also did this once. I felt bad for noelle. I really want to have an option to tell noelle that we found the watch in the floor and give it to her, making her still think it was a dream instead of appoaching her violently.
I am feeling like a monster... I just did this run so easily, i didn't even hesitated in any part of the run! I was just doing what i had to do to get the route And the worst part is that i seemed to be enjoying it I feel terrible now :(

This route imho is even worse than the Genocide in Undertale: while back there we were making OUR decision to destroy the world, here we are forcing not only Noelle, but Kris too, to do all of this. We force Noelle to be a killer, despite her kind nature, and we force Kris to do all of that to her. I doubt Kris is much happy about this too, in this route we literally mentally torture two different characters at the same time. Yeah... despite I played the Genocide route in UT, I never got the guts to do the Snowgrave route in DT. Truly horrible
yeah i agree. While it might not be obvious at first, kris making a new dark world in toriel's house at the end of chapter 2 might actually mean that there will be a new dark world in toriel's house. Crazy, but it kinda makes sense after thinking about it for a while
I.. don't think I quite understand what you're asking. When you take the watch, you simply unequip it from Noelle's inventory, no dialogue happens there.
In deltarune, toby points out that the player is the one doing evil. With this new context, chara is like how we treated noelle. But we use them as a scapegoat for the evil we make frisk do

I really think that as happened in chapter 1 your decisions will not matter, Berdly maybe fall asleep more than usual yknow, and noelle... the truth is that the snowgrave route hurts me emotionally is very disturbing or sad, but let's see what happens in future chapters.

I only want a happy way but this more like mystery and...i like it :).
I also did this once. I felt bad for noelle. I really want to have an option to tell noelle that we found the watch in the floor and give it to her, making her still think it was a dream instead of appoaching her violently.

No lo creo, supongo que es más por el hecho de que Noelle le cuenta a su padre acerca de que le gusta Susie (razón por la que le dice a Susie que "si la toca, le pateará el trasero", aunque a modo de broma) así que le mencionaría todo eso para que la invite a una cita, pero lo que dices es una opción válida (en mi opinión, un poco extrema).
This route imho is even worse than the Genocide in Undertale: while back there we were making OUR decision to destroy the world, here we are forcing not only Noelle, but Kris too, to do all of this.
We force Noelle to be a killer, despite her kind nature, and we force Kris to do all of that to her. I doubt Kris is much happy about this too, in this route we literally mentally torture two different characters at the same time.
Yeah... despite I played the Genocide route in UT, I never got the guts to do the Snowgrave route in DT. Truly horrible

yeah i agree. While it might not be obvious at first, kris making a new dark world in toriel's house at the end of chapter 2 might actually mean that there will be a new dark world in toriel's house. Crazy, but it kinda makes sense after thinking about it for a while

I.. don't think I quite understand what you're asking. When you take the watch, you simply unequip it from Noelle's inventory, no dialogue happens there.
