Love this, haven't forgotten it after 40 years. And yet, back then, when I was the only Greek kid in class, the other kids had a field day mocking the hell out of me as a half-goat boy, pointing at me and laughing their heads off in the dark classroom. By Zeus, what mixed memories..!
I first heard this when I was a little kid in the early nineties, and the song scared the hell out of me. It still creeps me out as an adult, but now it's because I'm old enough to realize that men chasing after clearly distressed ladies in Greek mythology means _things are going to get rapey._
wow...i finally found this. I remember having to sing this when was in grade school. I was probably around 6 or 7 years ago. I am now 38yrs old. This is just one of funny things I can remember like it was yesterday. It's crazy the things you remember...especially when it wasn't real significant.
Oh man. Thank you. The old kids that used to go to my little Catholic grammar school thank you. This brings back memories! And I always sing this song when I make pancakes lol
My older brother and I have been singing and laughing our butts off at this for at least 20 years by now. Something about the singers heavy voice and the bouncy piano and happy drawings together just makes us lose it. To this day, we can't sing it with a straight face. And every time we try to, we both say "Boy, that song really stuck with us."
I watched this only once....in second grade back in 1976.....and I never forgot the tune or how scared I was when he was chasing that girl relentlessly. Finding it again now, I'm only slightly less scared.
My elementary music teacher played this, quite often enough it stayed in the back of my mind. The only thing I remembered was singing "Paaan. Paaan. He's half goat and half man." Weird that that is all I remembered.
This song is from my elementary school music class more than 30 years ago and I randomly started singing it today. Found it on you tube!!! Now my 8 year old is singing it!! 🤣🤣🤣
I was born in 82. I have been trying to find this song for years now. I remember hearing it in grade school in the 80's. I couldn't remember the name or the exact lyrics to save my life. Well...I finally found it!!!
@@WeirdGuyGreen I wish you could upload ALL the films in the once upon a sound series like Mu the horn blower, Jubal and the twanging strings and Bangladore and the stump drum!
+John Taco I'm 28, but I think I saw this in 4th grade. For some reason I remembered the girl turning into stone instead of a reed. Do you know if they made alternate versions of this?
@@WeirdGuyGreen I wish you would upload ALL the once upon a sound series like Mu the horn blower, Jubal and the twanging strings, and Bangalore and the stump drum!
i was born in 98 and my elementary school teacher graciously showed us this video. scared the shit out of me but i never forgot it lol. this is my closure
Just turned 21, maybe now I can drink away all the terror that this brought childhood me. DAMN YOU, DAMN YOU MRS. MIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (My elementary school music teacher)
Thank you for posting this! I was gathering info on panpipes for my 5 yo son. This is absolutely wonderful for his age and the story will surely help him with association!
Haven't seen anyone mention the goddess Syrinx turning herself into the tube like water reed to avoid getting goat-raped is where the term for the hypodermic needle comes from. I'm a recovering meth and heroin addict so I know; my channel's all about addiction and recovery!
I watched this in elementary school and my sister and I still sing this from time to time 🤣 EDIT: also this was in the early 2010's I saw this, so I'm surprised to see that it's been around for so long!
So I was reading this story about the Goatman (www.wattpad.com/25379873-creepypasta-anasi%27s-goatman-story) and I immediately thought of Pan. Then I thought of this video, which I had first seen in first grade. I can't believe it's on TH-cam. This is great.
What is the name of the set of DVDs this belongs to? I have been looking for it to show my elementary students because the songs are so catchy to help them remember the instruments. Thanks!!!!!

These days they probably would not let teachers show this in school because it would bring up the awkward questions of bestality, human rape of a goat, it would have to be a male human that raped a female goat to produce this half boy half goat creature, plus the Greeks would say this is racist. In 2019, everyone gets triggered at the drop of a hat. Our music teacher would scream sing this song to us and make the little kids sing it and everyone was very confused about the story and also scared shitless from our crazy music teacher.
I got syringomylarie and blood work found the God of pain in my DNA. How did they do this ? Even this story sums up my life story and I only just found out about this. My nurologist and psychology people in Neurological science ward talking to pain specialists talk about this and I still don’t understand.
This song has been stuck in my head for 25 years.
Did finding it here get it more stuck, or less stuck?
So amazing. I had this song in my head since elementary song and never knew what it was. Wow this brings back those years. Lmao
I saw this as a filmstrip, my first week of second grade. 30 years later, it's still running through my head.
Azure Ursavus: Social engineering designed for use on young children?
Lol me too

I would be honored pan is my favorite Greek god
You should be happy. They're obviously jealous!
Literally the jauntiest tune ever created.
I’ve been looking for this for 35 years! Music class in elementary school, FL
Thank you for posting this. I've sang it all my life never being able to hear it again until now! Hahaha! I watched this in the 80s!
I've had this song in my head since I was like 8 years old, and it will never go away.
I watched this cartoon when I was 18 years old. Back in 1989. Better than a joint or beer. Great song and story.
I first heard this when I was a little kid in the early nineties, and the song scared the hell out of me.

yooo me too this is a classic

Unforgettable melody from grade school, early 1970s.
This is so satisfying to see. It's been rolling around my head since 1987.
30 years after watching in school and I STILL sing this/get stuck in my head!!!!!
My elementary music teacher played this, quite often enough it stayed in the back of my mind. The only thing I remembered was singing "Paaan. Paaan. He's half goat and half man." Weird that that is all I remembered.

This makes me very uncomfortable remembering the existence of this video we used to watch this in music class in elementary school lol
Between growing up with this and "Altered Beast" it's no surprise that I was interested in Greek mythology.
He wanted to "play" with the nymph.
😂😂🍆💦💦💦

I’m seeing this in 10th grade
Why can't I ever forget this?? It's in my head and even when I have dementia I'll sing it lol
This is the first time I heard this song. it's really catchy and cool. Mainly cuz, I'm just getting interested in Pan.
Me too, Pan fascinates
Thanks for putting this up! I watched the film strip in music class in the early nineties. I'm so psyched it's on TH-cam
Glad to have done it! I was obsessed with it too.

I was in elementary school from 1971 to 1978 and my music teacher played this over and over again how long did they inflict this thing on kids?
This weird ass shit takes me back to my childhood.
This takes me back to the late 80s around circa 1988 Griffith elementary school Mrs. Fee music class.
One of the very few things I remember from 1st grade. Very catchy tune!
i was born in 98 and my elementary school teacher graciously showed us this video. scared the shit out of me but i never forgot it lol. this is my closure

This is probably my earliest identified meme. Also, how powerful self-censorship can be.
Watched this waaaaaaay back in elementary school
I was born in 2004 and I still rewatch it from my times in kindergarten and 1st grade! This story/song is LEGENDARY in my family😂

I’ve been looking for this for a long time, I saw this in seconded grade
Glad you found it here!
Why the hell did my 3rd grade elementary school music teacher have me listen to this?
A merry chase?
For fucks sake, how long ago was this?

I had to watch this in school back in the 1970's … I remember this kid would try to be funny by saying "one half woman the other half man"
Why were we shown this as children?
