Thank you Austin for your hard work in spreading the news about Cambodia to the world. I am a Cambodian who has left Cambodia over 40 years ago but I has never once forgot who I am and where I came from. I has only been back to Cambodia once in 2016 after 40 years but I can tell you that I was actually able to meet new people and become a friend with them over night, that’s how nice and friendly the Cambodian people are. And yes, respect is a big thing in Cambodian culture. If you respect them, they will respect and love you, otherwise don’t expect anything from them. I often times heard people talk about racism in Cambodia in social media or TH-cam, it’s not true and it’s a misunderstanding about Cambodian reaction and interaction with foreigners at their first sight. Cambodian may give you a different look and may be some abnormal body expression when they encounter foreigners, especially in the countryside, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t like you, instead that is their way of telling you their awe and their first impression seeing foreigners. There is no racism in Cambodia.
I also left Cambodia since late 70s and I've been in America since 1982 and I was about 10 years old. And yes I do miss 🇰🇭 dearly and also never forget where I came from
😅😅😅 there is against Cambodian citizens of Vietnamese descent. Especially if they are too open about it, I’m Khmer of that ethnic mixture. And you also right it is not as bad as people think. Most of it are exaggerations to discredit Cambodia.
@@Gneskos you may be right, especially those Khmers of ex-Khmer Rouge who dislike Vietnamese. However, if you’re really a Vietnamese-Khmer living in Cambodia you should know how most Cambodian people are like. And if you want to know why some Khmer dislikes Vietnamese it’s because they feel that they have lack of respect, I mentioned about respect in my comment above, from the Vietnamese people. Vietnamese people often have the mindset that they’re a superior ethnicity in the region and think that Cambodian are barbaric. You can start reading some of the comments on TH-cam the Vietnamese netizens posted. One of the Vietnamese monks just made disturbing comments about the Khmer people recently, you might have heard about it.
Me too I left Cambodia 40 years ago and I feel Cambodia is at peace and people are happy and appreciate life and be kind to others, because Cambodian knew life and kindness is now carved into their hearts, the same for me even I now live in The US, I'm one of the kindness person everywhere I go. 🙏❤️🩹🇰🇭🇺🇸

36:00 what on earth is this Lady talking about ? What ranking shows Phnom Penh as #2 highest cost of living? According to Mercer , Phnom Penh is ranked #123…. #1 is Hong Kong, #2 is Singapore…I’ve lived and worked in both of those cities. I’ve not yet been to Phnom Penh, but I can’t see how that makes any sense. Did she misspeak?
