- On Sunday the 21st of April Steam Incorporated ran their Spiral Spectacular trip with the exciting addition of a recently refurbished EF Class locomotive number 30192. Da 1410 provided the power to and from Palmerston North where the EF could haul the majority of the trip along the electrified section of the North Island Main Trunk.
This is also the first time in many years a EF class locomotive has hauled a passenger train, mirroring the days of the Overlander when EF's we used between Palmerston North and Hamilton regularly.

Great clear photography great locations as well, in fact, locations worthy of modelling. Great to see the reconditioned/renewed EF locos in action - a credit to Kiwirail.

Awesome!

Thank you! Such a relaxing video. The running sounds are silky smooth compared to steam and diesel, or electric-hauled freights. Was it a tougher chase, given the relative peppiness of the EF?
Cheers. Yeah was slightly tougher chase similar to freight but thanks to the station stopping we got ahead easily enough!
