Actual bird flageolets (an octave higher than a sopranino recorder) survive, and copies of them are made by Philippe Bolton (France), Guido Klemisch (Germany ), and Houshun Masuda (Japan), amongst others.
Quite magical! The sound from recorders replicates the sound of bird calls very nicely. Makes one wonder if the physiology involved in bird calls is in any way similar to the block flute. Very nicely done, regardless. Thank you.
Birds, birds, birds all around 🐦🦜🐦⬛🐤🦩🦢 I still wonder where those 18th century guys found a sparrow who could sing like that. Those in my yard only ever go chirp chirp.
Oh wow, I love all pieces but would pick the Rossignol en amour on the fourth recorder. What is a fourth recorder ? It sounds like an alto. So diverse and warm.
As a card carrying nerd, I would probably listen to recordings of the birds in the wild to find if that could inform my interpretation. Perhaps you did? Your performance is very persuasive!
@@Team_Recorder i dont mind a wide trill! I play baroque flute. Was curious if the nature of the garklein had wider trills cuz *physics*. Ha. Nice playing.
Bullfinch is my favourite. I don't think the music accurately immitates the callls, but captures the essence of each bird... th-cam.com/video/bgjo37rey6Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=sNqFWiZwxhGQM2MH
This demonstrates why the recorder is such a special instrument; a magic performance!
Oh, I can see the birds in the wood and playing in the sunlight...😃💙👏💐

I'd love to have a video of you playing Alvin Etler's Tree Pieces on different bird calls for AAT. I always loved that piece.
So pretty sounds. Very moving; thanks for sharing.
One of my favourites, I ve played these tunes so often I cant count.
I love birds and I love music (and playing the flute too, as an amateur).
Thank you very much for sharing this. It's awesome!
I love hearing the recorder like this. So pure and pretty 🌹 ❤ 🐦 🎶
Professor Sarah puts all of her heart and soul and body into her playing. 😊🎶

The last piece was absolutely amazing, thank you 😊
Sarah, you inspired me to play the recorder years ago. I'm happy that you still got the energy. ❤️
Thank you Srah for your joyful inspiration. You are the one who encouraged me to play the recorder and I've found my favourite now, the lovely tenor.
This video is the inspiration I’ve been looking for. Than you 🐦
I watched the stream on Friday and am happy to recall this memory again. Thank you, Sarah, for such lovely and bright music!
Will we get to see even more of that? Very nice that the Garklein was included!
Always a surprise...delightful..thank you Sarah ....sam
That was so great to see the other day! Thanks for excerpting !
How lovely! It's inspired me to play my garklein!
Very impressive playing!
Ahh lovely. Thank you for my breakfast-time concert! Most enjoyable. x

That Ganassi soprano recorder at A=415 sounds so nice…

I'm sure the birds would rank you very highly.
Forget Elon Musk and all his nonsense. What you did there was a REAL tweet!

You have my day
"Green Finch and Linnet Bird, nightingale, Blackbird- How is it you sing?"
The answer is a recorder. 😀
Are some trills a bit wider on garklein?
Oh I’m sure they are, I’m doing my best 🫠

don't know how any of those birds sound IRL. for those who do, did the composer get the resemblance?

The melodies were not intended to mimick the birds, but to TEACH them tunes, in line with their general ability to sing.
@@corneliaippers603 ooh, didn't know they could be taught! I wonder if there are any vids online of birds who were taught these tunes
@@oxoelfoxothere’s quite some cruelty involved in teaching a songbird a tune so you’d be hard pressed to find anyone doing it today
@@baroquewinds cruelty?! gah. let them sing what they want then
