    Thanks for the info, ordered a Delter Press yesterday. Proud that it's from Brisbane too. It would be great if more people used the Delter Press, that seperation of the water and the grounds and the ability to make a larger brew with less grounds should be a game changer. Been using the Aeropress for just under 10 years and those are the only 2 annoying things about the Aeropress. I think you're a long way off your views prediction, though...

      ha! thanks Duncan, double edge sword that one :D Definitely agree it's a game changer doing large brews with it

    I have made a tamp for my aero press and use an espresso grind, I don’t stir or flip, just put in one full scoop, tamp to firm, pour in water to the 2 mark, then plunge, it does take some force to push the water through, but have found it makes a coffee i prefer. It took a bit of playing with the tamp presser to get it right, but it tastes more like espresso and less like French press.

      this is so ahmazing! a tamp for the Aeropress! i like it a lot 👏

    good to know, I had planned to choose between the immersion systems because a French press is only suitable for coarse coffee and I want to experiment with the grind.

      Hi AskiaLuna, Have you seen this James Hoffman video (th-cam.com/video/st571DYYTR8/w-d-xo.html) that suggests a medium-to-fine grind for French press and no plunging? Basically, it's immersion using a metal filter when pouring. Bit like tea... I'd be interested to know what you think about it :)

    I'm sticking with AeroPress with a Fellow Prismo attachment. No need for inverting, makes coffee I enjoy.

    • @martinkulik9466
      @martinkulik9466 ปีที่แล้ว

      I inverted with fellow too and almost 4 years it worked faultless. Then my family member used it and pushed from angle or I don't know and the thing lost the pressure through the silicone piston Or widened the chamber, by improper push... Otherwise it would still last

    what I really wish is that they made some form of attachment that would basically be a coffee basket you would attach seperatly under the aeropress so you could keep the coffee seperat from the water just like with the delta, would make the already ultimate brewer even more versitile

    Tried the delter. For me, time and convenience is all part the coffee experience. Aeropress gets it by a hair. That doesn’t mean the delter isn’t as good. It’s just different. I have my brew all worked out and barring some roasting variances, it is very consistent.

    Just bought an aeropress from you thus week and loving it. Still feeling my way with the grind though. Finding that both the inverted and regular methods work quite well. Having watched this video I think I still would have gone with the aeropress as it's less faffing around.

    I have just received a Delter, so I have not made coffee with it yet! I am learning how, right now. Thanks!
    I have had several Aeropresses. They are good when new but...after a couple of years, the rubber seal on the piston goes sticky, perhaps with coffee oil, and does not move as smoothly in the chamber. It can also lose the seal, resulting in hot water everywhere! it would be good is someone made a replacement seal/stopper for the piston.

      Hi Lee! thanks for your comments 👌 I have good news - there are replacement seals for both the Aeropress and the Delter Press. I've placed them in link below for you.

      may I suggest cleaning the plunger with baking soda once a month. This removes the oils and any build up.

    • @mycapitalvice
      @mycapitalvice 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      1. A seal that doesn't wear out in a month.
      2. A diaphragm that doesn't fall out.
      3. A product that does what it is promised and has a long service life.
      4. Concise use and care instructions provided with the product.
      5. Customer service that doesn't put the onus on the consumer to do their R&D.
      6. Filter papers the same size as aeropress.

      @@mycapitalvice Sounds like it's pretty bad then, My Aeropress has been very reliable after many years of use (not everyday however) I noticed the rubber plunger's edge looked like it wasn't in such great shape and decided to order another one BEFORE it caused any issues, however it still was working fine. It was maybe 5 or 7 years old. I still kept the old one as a backup in case the new one for some reason failed or something, and recently I noticed on the old one the rubber seal that was sitting around is a bit sticky now, probably about 10 years old though, seems like the rubber is breaking down. Also the numbers on the Aeropress have worn off, still a bit visible, I generally set the plunger to around #3 using the inverted method, so I am forced to make a more concentrated brew without accidentally adding too much water.
      So I've been happy with my Aeropress especially since you can get replacement parts for it if things do go wrong. I forget if I got them direct from the manufacturer or ebay (which may be why I kept the original one just in case).

    I hope they will increase the build quality of the delter. I am reading reviews that speak of leaks and shit seals that break within a year and replacement seals apparently are not covered by warranty.
    With that said I still decided to give it a go and have ordered a delter because I _really_ like the concept and will be praying to the coffee gods that I will be among the lucky ones that gets a decently made one rather than what I hope are just lemons.

      Just keep in mind it's not an aeropress - so approach it totally different in terms of grind and brew time 👌

      So I had the delter coffee press for a couple days and used it exclusively to give it a little shakedown.
      I am enamoured with it and would not want to ever miss it!
      If I were asked to decide between aeropress and dcp I couldn’t and wouldn’t choose one over the other since both are markedly different from each other, and thus I love them equally.

  • @michaelmcgrath7465

    For me, I have both, it boils down to taste. The Delter produces a much nicer cup of coffee, consistently.

    Ive got a prism for my aero. Its become impossible to press nearly. Do the metal filters clog up or would it be my silicon cap being over nearly 3 years old? Haha. Any tips?
    If you say old... i might get a delta.

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Stew, I'd give the metal filter a good soak and clean for sure,.. they do clog up yes.
      Have you tried using the Prismo without the metal filter?
