I mean those slum kind of settlements only exist in Mumbai and Delhi, happens when the govt. of the region was not capable enough to stop illegal housing by people migrating from rural areas. Nowadays, these slum areas are being consumed slowly by development. Also the condition of people living in each state in India vary between each state, like the differences would be incomprehensible. A lot of the southern states & some northern states who had better governance in the 20th century have human development index comparable to or better than eastern Europe. While the BIMARU states; bimaru literally means disease, also is an abbreviation of the 4 states which constitute like 90% of the poverty because of very bad history of governance. Each state has its own ethnic group, own official language, even their own political parties. So, Mumbai is just a mere region, many of Indians may not relate with it. The stark differences between states are invisible to foreigners, happens in a federal machinery coupled with a multi-party system. We copied the federal system from the US after independence, but the results were very different, since we don't have a 2 party system & taking into consideration the diversity.
I’ve worked with several Indian folks and in my humble opinion they’re some of the nicest people you’ll meet. Beautiful culture and even better food! ❤

Man, this is the kind of slums you walk through while going to the next objective in games like COD or Deus Ex. Seeing them recorded in real life, it's just... wow. Speechless.
That man was so fun to listen to, the fact the he is helping with childrens education...that he is giving that opportunity to the community is so cool. Love your videos and I am so glad you are able to go to these places and share it with the world.

It’s really sad and unfair but this is the reality of the world. Thank you for this video Tyler, it’s important to see this stuff
I like how Tyler is showing a few of the many problems we have in this messed up world through comedy, but also being serious when it comes to reporting these issues
I come from Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa. I was fortunate enough to live in an apartment secluded from other places but this reminds me of how a lot of people live back there. There is a slum and right behind it there are huge buildings and businesses that serve the rich and wealth. Rahul really motivates me and reminds me where I am from and my goals and my dreams when I came here to the US 8 years ago. Good job Tyler for shading a light at this!! Dharavi is just a small Part of Mumbai City, but Generalizing it for the whole Country is Insane. There is already a 'Redevelopment Plan' in action Costing 3 billion dollars.
I swear people underestimate how much 1.4 Billion people is. The problem with this country is its population The top 50 million people(as much as England's population) do in fact maintain a similar standard of living as any first world country as far as houses, luxury cars, education etc. are concerned It is the other 1.35 billion who spoil our image.
Honestly this makes me very lucky to see that I do not have to experience these types of things and I realize now that other people have it worse than me this showed me a lot Tyler you are a good man thank you.
God bless that country and that young man Rahul! Thanks for taking us around and showing us the world we live in. Many people need to see this to realize how blessed they are. ❤️
New subscriber here! This is the second video I've watched like this on your platform and I always reach a new level of gratitude afterwards. Very, very humbling. It's crazy how much we take for granted here in the states.
This is insane man. I am an Indian and even I am appaled. There is no way why these people cannot dedicate 2 days and clear all the trash, even 1/4th of these people can get together to do that. Plant some trees, clean the river - that alone would make life better for them. They call my city a Tier-3 city but it's 100 times greener and cleaner than the Tier-1 city mumbai. Even educated people like Rahul do NOTHING to improve other than sell poverty to tourists. 'Visit Dharavi'? They should be ashamed of themselves. Blaming the 'rich people' is going to do what??? They can't even pick up the trash and have 10 kids each. It's INSANE. God save my country.

What Tyler doesn't know is that people who live there are already immune to different kinds of diseases because their body have already adapted to that kind of enviroment. People who actually don't live there(like Tyler himself) could actually get sick pretty easily because they are not used to those kind of environments. Trust me Tyler, their immune system are far more better than yours.
@@urstupidm8 I disagree with what you said the "we all have the same immune system". No, we do not. 2:30 -> "From the temples" will be "From the tempus/tempos", "tempu/tempo" is what we call that truck shown in the video in Hindi. Please correct it as it's not good to you the word "temples" in that context. 9:32 -> "It's free of course" will be "It's free of cost". He was talking how the don't take money for the education they provide.
8:28 "Because they feel life is too short, be happy all the time" Honestly impacted me a greal deal and I'm not sure why. Perhaps it's the context, perhaps it's how it's said, or maybe it's just because it's very raw and genuine cultural difference not everyone can instantly understand... But when phrased like that, yes, it does make sense. No one can deny this is very uncommon behavior and attitude of places with severe poverty. I also think it has to do with different religions being so accepted. It's almost surreal, which is sad in itself, but I'm glad people make the best of it. I've been in poverty too and it's absolutely nothing I'd wish on anyone. No areas I've lived in while getting back up on my feet were anything but hostile. Makes you realize a lot of western countries are so damn angry.
And that man honestly has more beautiful bags than any fucking designer ever could because he actually really loves his craft. These people are amazing and we need to value them the way they properly deserve.

@@FazeJrb yep its pathetic how easily you can get demonetized on here you do so much as bring an issue to light or show the less fortunate's daily lifes and youtube strikes down the ability to profit of the video what makes this even worse in my opinion is most videos like this are giving the profits to charity or to the people suffering due to the issue showcased and youtube still takes away the ability to get any profit honestly a shame we have to live in a time where issue like this are just shamefully ignored and avoided.

I suddenly feel angry with myself for not appreciating what i have had all these years! Without even realising it! Thats the worst part! Thank you Tyler for this content and i do hope somebody somewhere will do something to help the people live in better conditions😊
Wow Tyler I'm gonna have to start watching your channel more. You seem to really get into the heart of political matters that mainstream news stations won't even dare go into. On top of that, you do such a great job of editing the video to show the human emotion of your experiences in every single situation, whether good or bad. I'm really digging this & looking forward to your future videos!
Remind me of my time walking through a poor village in Brazil, it’s something that is so emotional and you can’t truly grasp these living conditions and what these people go through everyday, seeing it in person is heart wrenching and it’s horrible how little it is talked about
From a regular youtuber to a fully fledged journalist. Great job Tyler
Love the channel. Awesome to see big content creators using their platform to help or at least shine a light onto what’s going on.
This brings tears to my eyes. The people of Indian are so special and full of life!!! It’s a rich culture. The people in the US could learn a lot from their attitude. We complain about far too many things.
I'm sure the smell of that place would bring tears to your eyes.

I can’t believe you’re getting demonetized on a lot of your newer videos man. You’ve been doing some amazing journalistic work lately and I’m sure I speak for many when I say keep it up!
Somehow ths video not only captured the harsh reality of the living conditions but also showcased the resilience and strength of the people who call it home. Amazing video 🙂
This dude is next level. Imagine any other "in depth reporter" going to these lengths. Probably going to die 20 years early from exposure. But seriously journalism and courage that's next level. Much LOVE and RESPECT Tyler

Thank you Tyler for your donations to Rahul. Apart from government fundings, common people need to take care of the community as well. I have plans to fund education for the needy from my village, hopefully it will become a reality in the near future.

Dharavi is just a small Part of Mumbai City, but Generalizing it for the whole Country is Insane.
There is already a 'Redevelopment Plan' in action Costing 3 billion dollars.
I swear people underestimate how much 1.4 Billion people is.
The problem with this country is its population
The top 50 million people(as much as England's population) do in fact maintain a similar standard of living as any first world country as far as houses, luxury cars, education etc. are concerned
It is the other 1.35 billion who spoil our image.

I would watch these videos over a cable news channel any day. Keep it up Tyler.

I love this guy & his channel. It’s the respect/kindness he shows everyone, & it looks to be actually genuine as well. Which is sadly rare nowadays.
When it comes to cleanliness it is nothing to do with poverty. It is the culture. You don't have to be rich to keep your neighborhood clean
They don't have any where to throw or recycle the trash.....
Yet they are more safe than other zones in America even if they are poorer. It's indeed the culture

Yeah.. That is pretty much true. As someone who lives in averagely good slum in India.. Even I would get sick there.
its not "better", just better trained, we all have the same immune system - first worlders just dont use it like the rest :)

7:44 , we found the new outro 😂
lol
8:28 "Because they feel life is too short, be happy all the time"
Honestly impacted me a greal deal and I'm not sure why.
