You know they are said to be soulmates in at least one comic (although Peter denies it heavily). Plus there is that relationship Peter has with Johnny Storm (so much homoerotic subtext in the comics when those two are paired together). So I can see Peter being bi, although he probably would claim he just views them as friends.
Yessss PLEASE DO HARLIVY. They will forever be my favorite comic ship,, But, I mean, what... CAN he do? They're already confirmed in so many ways on both canonical and non-canonical comics so covering their relationship is kind of a moot point. Unless the video is titled "Are Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy gay" and the video is 2 seconds of the word "yes".. 😅 (well, technically it's bi/pan but whatever)
TheInklet AreTheyGay could still cover how DC sorta flip flops on the topic, like how Harley and Ivy’s relationship is way more of an explicit focus in AUs (most notably the Bombshells series) than in the main series OR how despite it being canon in the comics and originating from their dynamic in B:TAS, the various cartoon adaptations have only implied things without fully confirming their relationship OR how the Suicide Squad movie is basically a Joker x Harley fic come to life while the Gotham City Sirens movie that was supposed to show Harley and Ivy as girlfriends got cancelled

Nick Candy let me correct that Short answer: No Long answer: small jokes don’t mean anything to a characters legacy especially since said character is already with someone of the opposite sex and has clearly shown signs of distaste for the person who is supposedly gay for them
Short answer: Kinda Long answer: Well, sexuality is a spectrum, and there is more than just gay or not gay, there are different levels of people having romantic attraction, sexual attraction, attraction in general to the individual spectrum of gender and physical aspects... That's why its LGBTQ+ The plus means there are a ton more, but that would end up being a really long acronym so we are just gonna roll with the well-known ones for the people who don't understand. :)
@@avili9733 in other words, nah they ain't (maybe Deadpool though) you know this kinda reminds me of something the director of The Digimon movie did, he confirmed that Kari was in love with the protagonist Tai (whom also happens to be her OLDER BROTHER) and even her voice actress rolled with the idea and played her with that intention in mind, naturally most of the fans were not really into this idea (unfortunately some of them where REALLY *INTO* THE IDEA) and they ended up analyzing the movie, they ended realizing that of you see the series with this in mind most of Kari's attitude and development MAKE A LOT MORE SENSE (why is she so clingy? INCEST, why is she so fragile without him? INCEST, why does she seem to be interested by people who looks or act like her brother? INCEST, why is her character arc about trying to be less dependent on her brother? Yeah, okay, I'm going to be honest, calling Peter Parker a middle class white guy is ignoring so much important context. He's not "middle-class" he's literally poor, money problems are one of the most common struggles he goes through. And he's also heavily Jewish coded, partly because the people who created him were almost all Jewish, and has been explicitly Jewish in a few adaptations, like Into the Spider verse. So no. He's not just "a middle class white guy."
@@niniukato It still doesn't make him upper class. His economic class still puts him at a disadvantage in society, even if other things, like his race, gender or sexuality don't. I honestly don't care whether or not Spiderman is bi, I just think it's facetious to argue that because he's white and straight he doesn't have real problems that would make him the classic underdog.
He is tho? At least in the mcu. And andrew garfield universe. Literally every Spider-Man actor has been white and Peter IS white as well dude. It's a comic.
I agree, I think it's ridiculous to say Peter Parker isn't an underdog just because he's white and straight. There's other struggles people face that aren't necessarily about race or sexuality.

Okay wait, gimme that source for "spiderman is straight white guy lmao". From the articles i've read, and interviews of Stan lee... it was "Spider-Man can, in fact, be black or Hispanic or gay - it’s just that Peter Parker can’t." And that was the whole point of spiderverse? Miles Morales, Spider Gwen, Silk etc etc. I did not find any source for when Stan says "spiderman is only for white men lmao." Besides, he created Black panther in 1966, and got him a solo series in 1973. (This was during the time when African-Americans were forced to use separate toilet btw) So. don't piss on him for wrong quotes.
LMAO “I’d like Spider-Man to stay as he is, but I have no problem creating a superhero who’s homosexual. I have no problem with having a black one, a Latino one, a Chinese one, anything-the whole world is our playground. The whole world has heroes we can draw from.” thesource.com/2015/06/30/stan-lee-thinks-spiderman-shouldnt-be-gay-or-black/
the meaning of lmao's quote of what stan lee said and the original quote are totally different, and the "spiderman is straight white guy" is totally taken out of context and it looks like is being used to shame stan lee. taking shit out of context is a pretty shitty thing to do when ur using it to piss on someone for ur own agenda, especially when that guy is now fuckin dead
big boi with a big heart he’s referring to the fact changing character is pretty pointless when he’s already established which I still ride and die for the quote because it falls back to it being him staying the way he is
Since Marvel likes to make thousands of alternate universes, SpideyPool being canon in one of those universes wouldn’t hurt. Honestly I’d love to see it, with Deadpool looking up to Spidey n all, it really would be adorable.
listen i get that peter is like canon straight, but idk man its possible for people who've been only attracted to the opposite sex their whole lives to suddenly find this one person, of the same sex, that they're attracted to. i dont see why that cant be a possibility w/ Spiderman, esp with the relationship thats already been built up. Howm'stever,,, obviously their relationship doesnt have to be romantic itd just be rlly sweet if they were together. but i also recognise that male friendship is also important to portray, yknow. we need more male friends being close to each other and genuinely loving each other without making it gay. i want bros being emotionally vulnerable to each other >:( basically we need more gey but also more male friendship that involves ~feelings~
I see you. And you're right. But when "let them be friends!!!1!" is used to shut shippers down (which I know you are not trying to do) I have two reactions: 1) Male friendship IS explored a ton in media. Both in films and television. It is explored more than female friendships. It is definitely explored more than queer relationships, by leaps and bounds. 2) Different interpretations of the same piece of media can co-exist. Just because someone or several people see a dynamic as a friendship, does not mean I have to do the same. And vice versa.
@@oof-rr5nf ah yeah, I don't agree with shutting people down on their own interpretations of a piece of media. I'd say it's definitely reasonable for people to infer romance from spiderman and deadpool idk why straight people get pressed about that
Im not saying Spiderman is gay, but people can actually discover being bi quite late in their life. Ive seen it happen in real life, its probably not as uncommon as you think
@@sirukkira oh yeah for real. Not to mention some people discover they're gay later on in life, not bisexual. It's kinda amazing how we can trick ourselves like that. Although some people say sexuality can change over time which is also a possibility
According to Stan Lee he isn't gay at all. But also Stan Lee was asked why he never wrote a LGBT+ character? He responded back with something like: I don't know why. I guess it never crossed my mind ----------------------------- And still people are mad at him. Wonders, though I don't mind the ship but I can understand his frustration.
I mean, I'm not mad at him. 1. It's true, some people just don't think about it, and it's FINE!! Yes, LGBT representation is great, but we'll be fine with straight heroes too. 2. It was a different time back in the sixties, with the civil rights movement and the LGBT movement. The X-Men and mutants were created to represent those people, and it did a damn good job at it too. So maybe that generation just wasn't ready for a gay or bi hero yet.
Well, think of the times that these characters were created. If one of the characters were lgbtq+, then they wouldn’t get as many sales, because.. well..
back when he was actively writing it wasn't common to hear about gay ppl much less characters, its normal it didnt cross his mind, bc it wasnt very relevant in his life
Tbh I've only started shipping them after reading an OLD comic. Like a really old one, where they're just bantering. You don't know my absolute joy that I've found this comic.
13:17 okay okay but wait, that’s Deadpool and Spider-Man on the sweaters, but it’s them AS SAM AND DEAN FROM SUPERNATURAL. IM ROLLING- WHEN I TELL YOU I SCREAMED-
I mean I think they're leading towards spideypool given the current Marvel Universe but I don't think it's going to stick though because Spider-Man is always either gone with Mary Jane or Gwen Stacy so it leaves a lot to be discussed and figured we are going against at least was Spider-Man anyway 40 years worth of establish heterosexual Cannon
Stan Lee said PETER PARKER from the comics HE wrote was het/cis. not all spider-people. not all versions of spider-man. he only meant that the Peter Parker he wrote was intended to be het/cis. so like every other spider-person could be LGBTQ+ i mean Gwen Stacey is definitely not straight. she totally had the opportunity to date her Best Friend Peter Parker (and if i remember right, i’m pretty sure he liked her) but she didn’t. she didn’t do anything remotely romantic with him except **spoiler?** cradle his dead body after she accidentally killed him (is that romantic?) **spoiler over**
Just wanted to say a straight girl could easily just not have romantic feelings for a guy who likes her. I mean, we can't assume she's not LGBT, but we also can't rule out her ability to be attracted to men. She just wasn't attracted to Peter Parker.
18:47 Fortunately we've labeled that already. It's usually called abrosexual, where sexuality changes over time. it's like a bisexual with a really wild bi-cycle.
i feel like there should be another series like this just titled "Yes, They're Gay." for all the canon lgbt characters that dont get enough attention fun fact: wanda and visions' children are all three not straight. go them
I think that they're an asexual couple. Asexual couples center their lives around emotional intimacy rather than sex. This would explain why they are basically life partners.
maybe spidey has platonic love for wade? not eros, but agape.. but wade is a flying ball of libido, he'd fuck everyone who consents, so he's everything but ace. but as he's not a predator (well on the sexual level.. ofc he's a predator, he's an assassin lol) he wont pressure spidey into having a shag. as it should be.
21:45 The joke from what I could tell was more like "This character when presented with someone they find very attractive accidentally said so out loud and is embarrassed about it" which is "funny" no matter the gender or lack there of of either party.
waiting for the day a spiderman comic reboot comes out where peter talking about his crush on m.j. and then it shows us m.j. and it's a dude, whose name is mark jones
that actually seems like such a feasible reboot? homecoming already played the "oh damn m.j. IS actually here you just didn't know it!!!" so they could totally do that for canonically bi peter parker
What i love about this gay/bi Spideypool is that it wasn't random and erupt, it wasn't out of the blue. They have had their moments since 2006 and has been building that relationship and polished it 'til this day. Trust me, i hate the whole LGTBQ/representing propaganda shove down our faces (Im looking at you Ice-man, suddenly turning gay just to have LGTBQ+ represented) But this makes sense, its not cringy, its not forced, the story makes sense. (Oh did i mentioned that i am *gay* and i get VERY cringy and triggered when writers just make known straight characters randomly gay for the sake of it?) Like, if you wanna have gay characters, make one from scratch and do it right. Make it iconic..or atleast if you wanna turn known straight character gays, make it so that the shit make sense with years and years of relationship building.. (I still dont buy ice-man being gay)
@@deadrisinfan29 Peter isn't LGBTQ+ maybe bi romantic if at all. The real thing to point out is the Spiderverse, it's a different story (Haha get it. No? Okay...). i think it's funny how people use the fact that Wade makes sexual jokes with both men and women to invalidate his sexuality. Like i make jokes about lesbians all the time and i'm a lesbian lol. Besides the fact that i flirt with my female friends , even if it's as a joke, it doesn't take away the fact that i'm a lesbian, and sometimes i don't even know if I'm really joking or if i really like that person. Plus there is that relationship Peter has with Johnny Storm (so much homoerotic subtext in the comics when those two are paired together). So I can see Peter being bi, although he probably would claim he just views them as friends.
Can you please cover Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy’s relationship some day?
They are honestly cute
Favorite comic book gays. Like spideypool is well and good, but Harley and Ivy give my life meaning.
Yessss PLEASE DO HARLIVY. They will forever be my favorite comic ship,,
But, I mean, what...
TheInklet AreTheyGay could still cover how DC sorta flip flops on the topic,
like how Harley and Ivy’s relationship is way more of an explicit focus in AUs (most notably the Bombshells series) than in the main series
OR how despite it being canon in the comics and originating from their dynamic in B:TAS, the various cartoon adaptations have only implied things without fully confirming their relationship
OR how the Suicide Squad movie is basically a Joker x Harley fic come to life while the Gotham City Sirens movie that was supposed to show Harley and Ivy as girlfriends got cancelled

Long answer: Well, sexuality is a spectrum, and there is more than just gay or not gay, there are different levels of people having romantic attraction, sexual attraction, attraction in general to the individual spectrum of gender and physical aspects...
So no. He's not just "a middle class white guy."
him being "poor" or jewish doesnt eliminate the fact he isnt yt lol hes doing just fine for a yt guy living in new york

Howm'stever,,, obviously their relationship doesnt have to be romantic itd just be rlly sweet if they were together. but i also recognise that male friendship is also important to portray, yknow. we need more male friends being close to each other and genuinely loving each other without making it gay. i want bros being emotionally vulnerable to each other >:(
basically we need more gey but also more male friendship that involves ~feelings~
^^^
I see you. And you're right. But when "let them be friends!!!1!" is used to shut shippers down (which I know you are not trying to do) I have two reactions:
1) Male friendship IS explored a ton in media.

I don't know why. I guess it never crossed my mind
-----------------------------
And still people are mad at him.

H P thing is peter is straight plain and simple Stan the man Lee straight up said he’s straight
@@deadrisinfan29 Well, thats the thing, its the deadpool part thats really a grey area here.
H P oh no Deadpool was always Pan but peter is as straight as a arrow
C.J Rex still straight
@@deadrisinfan29 Peter isn't LGBTQ+ maybe bi romantic if at all. The real thing to point out is the Spiderverse, it's a different story (Haha get it. No? Okay...). There are female Spideys, African American teen Spideys, black and white detective Spideys, cartoon Spideys, Kawaii Spideys, etc.
☆ Peter may be Spiderman but Spiderman is not Peter. ☆
i think it's funny how people use the fact that Wade makes sexual jokes with both men and women to invalidate his sexuality. Like i make jokes about lesbians all the time and i'm a lesbian lol. Besides the fact that i flirt with my female friends , even if it's as a joke, it doesn't take away the fact that i'm a lesbian, and sometimes i don't even know if I'm really joking or if i really like that person.
Anyway, i don't think straight people understand that we gays make fun of each other too
Found one guy say deadpool is straight since he has a girlfriend...oof
Deadpool is canon pansexual
