@@ryant4506 oh no for me it was the complete opposite😂 even tho I’m a guy this song was so lit when I was little In elementary school aka in the 2010-2015 so I love the nostalgia this song brings and since I just got a guitar a couple weeks ago I KNEW I had to learn this😤😤😤
Hey Marty. I started playing when I asked my dad to get me a guitar for my birthday years ago when I was a kid, and I still find useful guitar wisdom from your video's so far later. It's crazy to think I was a like a little baby at that point and now I'm 21. Thank you so much for what you do! You've helped us for a long time
I just wanted to let you know I’ve watched your videos over the years and watched you improve as a teacher and now if I want to learn a lick, you’re my go to guy. I appreciate what you do. Thank you for the work and joy you put in. -Michael
new guitar player ... the triads sounds cool with a kapo on the first fret. it allows me to toggle between playing 3 to 5 strings with an open 6th for different variances of fullness during the song. your tutorials are the best ive learned so many songs from you. thank you!
Man, I first need to move up the neck.. down the river, up and down the frets, but I'm not there, yet. I need to really go at scales, and this proves it. Thanks for the musical reminder! (Enjoying chord changes and strumming patterns too much to care much about scales!)
what are the odds, i was thinking about learning this song yesterday and i almost looked it up, but i was busy. then he posts this today. i think our minds are linked
Marty! You’re going in my album credits one day! Well work royalties out later 😂😂 but for real thanks for the awesome lessons and theory! You’re the best guitar teacher anyone could ask for!
Marty your lessons are awesome. Would you ever consider doing a lesson on any Stan Rogers songs? His finger picking is unreal and I want to learn it so bad but there isn’t much learning material on his music .
ik im three years late but im confused at 1:56 he says a dmaj chord but he instead does a bar chord?? am i dumb i thought the dmaj chord was like a three fingered chord not a bar chord.. can someone please explain im so confused😭
Hi! No ur not dumb lol there are mutiple ways to play the same chord all over the neck. The dmaj chord ur talking about is the open version on the second fret, but there’s also a bar version on the 5th fret of the a string and a 4finger version on the 10th of the E string.
I could be mistaken but I think the very beginning is 1 finger sliding into the 6th fret, then you hammer on the B string. It just sounds that way to me, a little smoother then all 3 sliding up together.
Im 22 when i was in middle school when we got done eating breakfast we would go into the gym and line up for class and have the usual school news but every time i walked in this song was always playing 2-3 times of the week and it just got stuck into my head🤣now i want to learn it
Please do a couple of lessons on Sabaton songs, Fields of Verdun, Bismarck, and Resist and Bite are my favorites, and I would love to be able to play them!
I wish you showed the photo of the cord you were playing so it was easier to figure out. I don’t understand that D-flat major triumph chord I even googled it, and it still doesn’t make sense
Thanks for supporting MartyMusic! I also have a bunch of FREE courses at my site www.martymusic.com
Please do a lesson on scales
I'm a little confused about scales and I think you the only one who can help me
I didn't know I wanted to learn this
Ikr? Like I went from “haha funny girl song” to “I need to know this...”

Not what we wanted, but what we needed.
I’m at school right now, but you can bet your bottom dollar that I’m learning this when I get home
You’re learning it now, at school. You’ll be playing it when u get home

Even though iv never liked the song, I have always maintained that the the guitar part is great
Does anyone know the studio musician that did this?
The production makes it sound super corny but the songwriting is actually great and very catchy imo.
How can you not like the beat and the rhythm?
I’m a metal head and this is the one pop song I actually want to learn on guitar… 🎸🤘

I am right with you holy shit

Probably the best pop riff I’ve heard! So poppy and fun

Capo on six, C - Em - Am- G. That's the easiest way I always play it live :).
intro C (hammer 2nd string) - em - g - am - open ... or C (hammer 2nd) - g (only play top three) - G - am .... wow thanks!!!
I've never watched a guitar video that isn't rock, blues or country, this is an exception

I love how you always give us a geese of you playing the song before the lesson!👊 go marty

He should also do every breath you take by the police.
This might just be me but I want some more van halen
Do it
I laughed so hard when I saw this I was literally trying to learn this like 5 minutes ago
Marty is severely underrated. Many of the other TH-camrs can’t touch him
He’s probably the biggest guitar tutorial TH-cam there is bar maybe Justinguitar

This is a nice song Marty. Thanks for that lesson
You're a life saver Marty! Love the channel, it's saving my butt for a gig I've got coming up haha
First I thought “why would you ever make a video about this song” but WOW it’s sooo cool
0:46 gotta make this my ringtone
When you tear down the chords it really simplifies the song. And the theory. Thanks!!

I want an hour long video of Marty's life
I usually don't subscribe to something because they tell you to do it, but I thought this guy has some good teaching skills. Thx man!
Marty just makes this song 1000 times better!
yo it would really help if you could give a little more information on how to strum it next time
Thanks for your time in making this video. I appreciate it!
Thanks to learning this song I am now able to party in the U.S.A ! 😅
I could be mistaken but I think the very beginning is 1 finger sliding into the 6th fret, then you hammer on the B string. It just sounds that way to me, a little smoother then all 3 sliding up together.
Such a crisp tone

That’s a C Sharp on chord, not a D Major. The root is on the 4th fret of the A string(C#). Am I missing something?
Marty in the u.s.a!!!!

Marty in the usa
The hook is powerful with this tune. It makes me want to play guitar whenever I hear it.

Yaaaay awesome thank you Marty~!
I never thought id put everything in doing down just to learn this
Hey Marty I just started watching ur channel and just got an electric guitar and I’m still learning power chords thank u for videos
power chords are a good place to start because they're very simple and there's countless songs that use them =P
Im 22 when i was in middle school when we got done eating breakfast we would go into the gym and line up for class and have the usual school news but every time i walked in this song was always playing 2-3 times of the week and it just got stuck into my head🤣now i want to learn it
Should do a Q&A vid Marty . Thanks for all your help on my guitar journey btw
Sure thing!
Nice Triad Work, never heard the song but I do like the funk

I randomly wanted to learn this song yesterday and couldn't find any good tutorials. Marty... can you read my mind?
I wish you showed the photo of the cord you were playing so it was easier to figure out. I don’t understand that D-flat major triumph chord I even googled it, and it still doesn’t make sense
Play this song and everyone in the guitar store will instantly release their inner white girl
Exactly why I'm learning it 😂
Marty how do you freaking read my mind? I’m being serious. I looked up this song randomly just now and here you only just posted it last week.
This is what every heavy metal musician plays when nobody's watching
Why marty why!!! Hahahaha jk keep rockin dude!! Hope you have a groovy day, everyone!
could we get some flight of the conchords tutorials? they have some sweet guitar songs i've been dying to learn!
You should teach us some local h I haven't been able to find any guitar lessons of them
Good video :)
I was looking for this two days ago what a coincidence
Marty!
I mean I didn’t want this but it did bring back some nostalgia which I’ll accept
