We have a Drone racing League right next to a DGC of mine, and they get some freaky-deaky footage of the boys trying for Eagle on #4. It adds a whole new meaning to the "birds eye view". My only wish is that drone propellers become toroidal, and silent!
I'm consistently impressed with Hammes' distance. He doesn't seem like a "distance guy" and he doesn't have the arm speed of the other guys, but he's always up there in these contests.
The drone follow shots really made this video exceptional. Haven't really seen a view like that flying behind a disc and holy smokes was it cool to see!
@@ZachBoyce_DG I found a video of him throwing into a net. that throw was 92 mph, and he claims he threw one earlier at 98 mph. still not 100, and if the net wasn't there the disc would've cut rolled at 40 ft.
Pretty sure Wiggins was OB on that winning throw. Pause at 51:29 and the disc hits the OB rope...you can see the OB rope push right before the disc hits the ground.
Same reason they have it in shotput to javelin etc. I suppose. So competitors are accountable for throwing in a general direction where it can be spotted and marked by spotters
@@aklevin at the very least. It's just a confusing perspective from the drone and watching a disc fly is a big part of why DG is fun to play/watch. You can't really tell the direction the disc is flying or how far it's going from a bird's eye view that's moving
I don’t care for disc golf but I like this even more than golf’s long drive event . I don’t care for regular golf either, this is better than cornhole lol
This is so fun to watch. Thanks for releasing this. Wish they would include what each disc(mold, plastic type, weight..) is before all of the player's throws. I'm sure there has to be a reason why they mark the throw where it first touches the ground as opposed to where it ends up. Anybody know why? In round play, the distance of a throw is measured or "guesstimated" from where it finally ends up right?
How are there not more spectators? I have been waiting for this!!!@ distance competion that has a good structure to its filming and its commentary. I feel that has been absent since its dawn.

I may have considered it if it wasn't league night! If it were me running it I would try and book a separate venue within the cities just for this competition.
Love the distance comp no matter what but I just wish they could go somewhere where if there’s a head wind they can just go to the other side of the field and have tail wind, I wanna see 700ft throws 😂
Awesome event! The wind makes this competition much more challenging, and taking advantage of it requires much more skill than without. Game is hard! And the Minnesota wind at this area is rarely consistent.
so glad to see geisinger back in here. lot of people dont know how fricken far he throws, hasnt done any comps or toured for 3 years and still comes in 2nd

Wiggins is a freakin specimen... Man... His form wows me everytime I see it... It looks dangerous and like only something that he should do, and maybe even not. So much force... Still, AB could be the new GOAT...
Eagle McMahon actually throws farther, he just doesn't do distance comps because of he already hurt his shoulder before. Watch him throw 704 feet in a head wind against Adam hammes
@@ultrainstinctdiscgolf007 I think you're right in that Eagle potentially matches Wiggins' distance and could certainly beat him in competition. I'm a Jomez fan and enjoy the coverage all year. We wait all year for the distance competitions. Can someone tell me why they couldn't find a spot with a tail wind? Not really groundbreaking watching them throw 600 feet into the wind.
I know I don't have a podium or a place to stand here, but I feel like distance comps should always take place in neutral or tail wind conditions. I feel like throwing into head wind is frustrating and can situationally mess you up with gusts turning an otherwise good flex shot into a turn over. Plus, seeing them fight over how deep they can get into 600 is more fun than the best throwers having difficulty breaking 550. I know I may be completely wrong and everyone had more fun throwing into a headwind for all I know.
Not even comparable... hockey sticks bend on the ice and slingshot the puck forward so there is a mechanical advantage to hitting a fast slap shot with a hockey stick. Throwing a disc is purely using force generated through your body. A hockey shot is much closer to a golf swing and the golf record is almost 240mph so you should be saying hockey isnt quite there yet.

Shame it was a heavy head wind. Would have like to see the actual distance these guys have. Cool video regardless!
It being way downhill sorta balanced it out, about what they would throw on calm flat ground
Maybe, but the wind did make it a lot harder for them to hit the right angle for a distance flight.
I wonder why they didn't just go to the other side of the field.
@isCarsonMiller that is the 3000 iq move...
It is not downhill. It’s a flat field where they threw
