PMDG B777 - Easy Approach & Landing Tutorial | Your Flaps & Speed Settings

  • One of the biggest things to learn when flying an airliner as big as the B777-300ER, is how to manage the speed on approach to ensure you are not too fast and unable to slow down as you go down. If you're coming from the Airbus (like me!), there are a lot more flap settings to get your head around and where and when to start configuring & slowing down. In this video, we make it easy to set this up so all your approaches are stable.

@@notleks2411 this! + A good landing is SAFE landing. And that’s not always a smooth landing. You always must consider weather and wind conditions, runway length and condition + runway slope. I have seen tons of so called „butter landings“ which would require a meeting with your supervisor in real life as they floated over the whole runway and landed so much next to the centerline, that the main gear near touched the grass.

Hello, if you want to put the runway rings, what I do personally is select the runway in the dep/arr page, then scroll to the left in the legs page, and the the runway way in the fix page (RW12L) hope this helps

For the 737 you don't enter the airport for the runway rings.
You just enter 'RW27R' or what ever the runway is and then it picks up the airport from the flight plan. Rather than the EGLL27R you'd do for the Airbus.
I expect the 777 is the same?

@@Easyjetsimpilot The range ring input is one of a few things (probably the only one tbh) which is simpler in the 737 than it is in the Airbus. Having to type EGLL25R on each Fix page to add a range ring seems a bit long winded, compared to the /5 /10 /15 on the Boeing.

Hello - an idea for a video...I am sure I will not be the only one looking to optimise disk space and move files around between disks when 2024 comes out - some of the simple solutions did not work for me when I did a recent reinstall. Would be great to have a detailed tutorial on the options (e.g. i understand there is a file/folder linking programme also)

Have you tried aming the localiser (pressing the LOC button) when your inbound to final, then once the localiser is captured arming the glideslope by pressing APP button? I'm not sure the exact reason but I recall someone saying sometimes they have to be done this way instead of just pressing app.

I'm fairly sure if you want to put the threshhold of a runway as a fix in a Boeing instead of the airport ICAO + runway (ie, EGLL27L) you put in the localised identifier so in this case ILL

I have done two landings and both times it started to reduce thrust drop nose too much, i then compensated and the thrust would not increase and speed would go too low and then eventually pick up. At that time the final was messed up. The plane was very light, less than 10% ZFW and Fuel. I am wondering if that was why.

I know its a whole different question, but I’ve been watching realistic flights in msfs. I had the idea that I could learn from it, but there was one thing I never knew and always confuses me. When they hit pushback and come out the gate. The put the flaps down a little. I never knew that before and I’m confused if actual pilots do that in real flights. Major Tom is a youtuber that I would watch that does realistic flights.
