Hey everyone! Thanks for the support in this video. We have created an UPDATED speedlite comparison that includes the V1 + V850II! Watch here: th-cam.com/video/0y1mkXhT6bA/w-d-xo.html
Great video clearing up many confusion, nearly bought the TT600, now that I know from your video that it doesn't have TTL, i am better informed to choose TT685 instead, really appreciate the video!
The HSS (high Speed sync) on the Godox TT600 does NOT work when mounted on the camera - HSS only works when used with a Godox remote trigger such as the Godox X1T
At last, some informative stuff on flashes, instead of reading out specs. Watching your video can prevent people taking decisions they regret later. Thanks.
Very useful video - thanks for explaining this confusing range of flashes. One tip though, if you’re going to be quoting loads and loads of figures with decimal points, I’d recommend you write the numbers up on a chart somewhere on the screen as you say them, because it takes a lot of brain power to remember the first set of numbers for one flash and then do the maths in order to compare it with the other flash. Doing it visually will make your videos easier to watch.
Great Video well explained. Building a Macro and still life studio and will start with 2 TT600s thanks to you I know they already have HSS with Xpro, They can be used with Lumix and I can upgrade to 685 for TTL (Yongnuo cannot for Olympus Lumix) I do believe That Canon Nikon etc should be careful why buy one of those at 3 times the price🤔 Thanks a lot 👍
Quick simple and to the point. I just upgraded from a Canon T6i to a Sony A7iii and I learned that my old Yongnuo speedlites were only compatible with my canon so I needed to buy new speedlites and I couldn’t figure out which ones. Thanks to this video the answer is pretty simple now. Thanks a lot
i have the TT685 and just acquired a V350.The smaller unit is lovely, operates more smoothly and can still be used as a master flash (can be used instead of an X-T1 as you can set it's power to 0) Just need to practice a bit the confusing menu
I am new to using a flash on my A7 III. Don't have much experience at all to be honest. I am looking at either the V860 II or the V350. Because the A7 III is great at high ISO will the larger flash be more beneficial or is the V350 enough? In other words if you had both which flash will be used mostly in terms of every type of photography you can think of. Thanks
@@christianlionel1988 The smaller versions in high iso will work grate, the larger ones power output will come in handy, if you need that higher power and/or faster recycle times. (faster recycles and more light at same power increments). In addition, lower powered flash pops generate less heat, if you plan on utilizing it in quick pop sucsession with high power, then the smaller ones may over heat faster and slow down
A note about the flashes that take standard batteries, I have seen significantly better recycle times on my Amazon Basics flash when using Nickle Metal-hydride (Ni-MH) batteries (rated power of 3 WH per battery, 1.2 volt 2500 mAh) than I ever had with alkalines. Of course, rechargeable batteries are going to be more expensive than their alkaline counterparts, but they do reduce operating costs.
Am using a TT685C and also have a X1TF to use with a Fuji X-T30. TTL and HSS work with this combination. In fact, the speedlight shows “FUJI” when using the remote trigger. Now have a speedlight I can share between 2 camera systems.
Hey, great comparison man, thanks. I have a problem with my a6400 and a TT685s, when using it in TTL mode with a shutter faster than 1/160s (high speed sync) it seems to just fire at full power all the time, is that intended, or am i doing something wrong? shouldnt it be metering with TTL?
Dope video, I have the a6500. I been researching for a good flash to go along with it & this video helped me save a lot of time. I think I’m gonna end up getting the TT685S, it has all I need & it’s way more affordable compared to the Sony flashes
Nice. You forgot to mention the longevity of the lithium-ion rechargeables though. supposedly you can get twice the amount of shots out of them as well SD faster refresh rate and in most situations not having to stop to change those Double A's is worth having the lithium-ion. the lithium-ion powered ones are much more expensive but it really seems worth it for the speed and longevity.
Everyone seems to be raving about this flash. I was so excited to receive it but as soon as I put it onto my camera I found one major problem. No one seems to have mention it and in my books it means that I can't use it as an event photographer. The head does not lock. I use the MagMod sphere and bounce and as soon as I put it on the head collapses down. Has anyone else come across this?
great video! you mentioned recycle time can be improved using the godox power pack with the tt685 speedlight. when you do connect the power pack, do you still need to install batteries in the speedlight or just use the power pack to power the speedlight?
Hi, very informative explanation. I have a question, on the TT600S the multi interface Sony shoe will set all the functions on the camera, shutter speed, zoom indication of flash ready etc (No TTL of course) or it doesn 't communicate at all, only the center contact? if this is the case why the sony shoe?
First when using either rechargeable or external battery packs for the V350, V860, TT600 or TT685 using either will decrease recycle times not increase recycles times and all of the flashes shown in the video have build in master modes function which will trigger and control all the others using the master mode by group/channel, HSS, off or on and power level adjustments.
Robert T. Johnson thanks for pointing that out. Increase the speed of the recycle time* is what was meant. Yes, all the flashes shown have built-in* (not build in) master modes but this would mean that you would have to camera mount the master flash to control. If you’d like them all off camera you would still need the use of the Godox X triggers.
Yes you would need to have one of the flashes on the camera to act as a master to the others. Researched manuals for each states " Fully support Nikon i-TTL camera flash. Workable as Master or Slave unit in a wireless flash group. With built-in 2.4GHz wireless remote system to support transmitting and receiving." I am a Nikon shooter. Still a great video and I would recommend the Godox flash system to anyone.
What about ttl mode with canon 80d a lot of customers having problems with tt685 when connected to canon 80d in ttl mode it always gets overexposed pics
Nice review. Im not a pro and im wondering how long or how many days would the charge remain on the battery since i go out of town for a week or so. I mean do i need to bring extra lithium battery or battery pack. Tnx.
Hi, thx for the info. I got godox tt350c works good BUT after couple pics shows that the battery empty although it’s not. When I take the battery out and in it works again !? Any explanation please 😊
Depending on how you shoot, the easy way would be to use TTL and adjust with flash exposure compensation. Set your desired aperture and start shooting! Once you're comfortable you can start playing around with Manual however we like to keep our ISO at 100 and no higher than 1/125 SS unless using High Speed Sync
for the tt685 and using a power pack, does the power pack provide all necessary power or do you still have to install the double A batteries for the electronics?
Very good review thanks. Can they all be used as optical slaves? - I know that TTL on the master flash will produce a pre-flash but if you put the main flash on Manual then any slave flash will fire when it sees the flash from the master.
The hot shoe is the main concern now since pple with budget cameras like 2000d...so make sure you alos zoom in the hotshoe.....i tried godox tt600 and it somehow worked
Excellent video on the different flashes Godox produce One item I would've liked to have seem: I wish you had pulled the 350s out of their boxes and shown them with the others. I have an Olympus EM1 MKII and the size of the 680 and 860 are a concern.; seeing them with the 350s would've given me an idea of scale. Thanks.
Love Godox for what they have done, on that note the main issue(s) are if you're using non Godox strobes you can not control the lights even with the firmware updates. All you have is a trigger it's looking like Yongnuo is the only flash controller that will work with your mix of light.
Hello, thanks for the video, one question please: Does the TT600 have the same output as the 685/860? If I am not interested in the TTL function should i save myself the extra $100? Thanks!

Hi. I have Nikon D5200.the camera I have doesn't offer HSS. When in manual mode, the camera won't let me go above 1/250. With these flashes, can I use the HSS feature with my camera? Thanks for the informative video.

What specific cable do you need to go from the Propac to the port at the front of the flash? Yes, Godox has cables for going from the Propac for Sony Nikon and Canon, but they don't seem to elaborate on what specific cable you need to go from the Propac to their OWN flashes. Its frustrating. Question?..If I purchase the larger v860II and want to use off camera...pretty much always...but want sometimes one on camera should I get the smaller v350 to use as my trigger , or will it be too complicated. That way I have both flashes and can use off camera or on camera (smaller one) sometimes.?
The V350 will also work as master so that configuration sounds suitable. Later down the track if you want both off camera simply look at the X1 or XPro trigger.
I have the X1c transmitter and the Godox V86011 and a canon 5D mk3 they work well together no problems I also have a canon powershot G15 the speedlite or the transmitter will not work I have to use custom function 1 on the transmitter to use the centre pin only is there any way to get TTL to work with the G15.

Hi There, Thank you for the information. I have Yongnuo RF 603 N trigger (Nikon) already available with me. So, will Godox V860ii N trigger with it ? Please confirm.
Hey there! If you have the RF 603 N Pair (trigger and receiver) then yes you can sit the V860II N on the receiver unit and it will connect with your trigger and fire. If not, any of the Godox X System triggers (X1, X2 or XPro) will work on it's own as the V860II has a built in Godox Receiver. Hope that helps!
Hi Supremo, No you will need to remove the battery from the flash and charge with the external charger provided. Its always handy to have a second back up battery for long shoots.
i like taking pictures at night and i have a canon 400d 10.1 megapixel camera and the flash on it is solid but i want a better flash so when i take pictures at night it will be better. i don't mind buying double a batteries but i want to know which one to use
You can try any of the C model flashes (Canon) including the TT350C and the TT685C. If you're able to borrow an external speedlite flash from a friend or perhaps hire one to try it first that would be ideal.
Hi , GREAT VIDEO ! Can you please help me i want to buy a V860IIC for my Canon SL3 , the only problem is that Canon remove the central pin from the hot shoe , i understand there is a firmwhere update out there that will make it work but on the Godox page the canon 250D (SL3) was not mentioned .
Best to hop into your local Godox retailer to try this in person. Canon have been removing compatibility with third party flashes and making it harder for Canon users. Your local retailer should be able to update the firmware of their gear for you to test.
Thanks for being straight to the point....I couldn't decide on the smaller v350 or the larger v860II. Going for the larger one because I want the larger output for when I use high speed sync...

If not, any of the Godox X System triggers (X1, X2 or XPro) will work on it's own as the V860II has a built in Godox Receiver.
Hope that helps!
@@hypop Thanks a lot..I only have a single Yongnuo trigger. So, buying a new Godox trigger will be a better option.
Does the tt600 (not tt600s) work on a7iii”
Do you charge the Li-ion in the flash or in it's own charger?
Hi Supremo, No you will need to remove the battery from the flash and charge with the external charger provided. Its always handy to have a second back up battery for long shoots.
@@hypop Awesome, thank you!!!
(Added to cart) :)))
@@hypop btw, do you know by any chance how many shots it will take if it's on TTL mode?
i like taking pictures at night and i have a canon 400d 10.1 megapixel camera and the flash on it is solid but i want a better flash so when i take pictures at night it will be better. i don't mind buying double a batteries but i want to know which one to use
You can try any of the C model flashes (Canon) including the TT350C and the TT685C. If you're able to borrow an external speedlite flash from a friend or perhaps hire one to try it first that would be ideal.
How do you connect Godox tt600 flash and cannon 650d without using the trigger
You may want to look at a TTL cord, otherwise mounting direct to the hot shoe
Hi , GREAT VIDEO ! Can you please help me i want to buy a V860IIC for my Canon SL3 , the only problem is that Canon remove the central pin from the hot shoe , i understand there is a firmwhere update out there that will make it work but on the Godox page the canon 250D (SL3) was not mentioned .
Best to hop into your local Godox retailer to try this in person. Canon have been removing compatibility with third party flashes and making it harder for Canon users. Your local retailer should be able to update the firmware of their gear for you to test.
Great video! Thanks for the info. Now i know which flash i need to buy!
Hi, which would you recommend for Nikon5300? Usually to use during travel and sometimes ballroom/indoor events.
V350N
Agreed! For portability and a great little flash, perfect for travel, that will have more output than your popup flash the V350N is ideal.
@@hypop i can use for outdoor portraits or better the 685?
Thanks!
Thanks for being straight to the point....I couldn't decide on the smaller v350 or the larger v860II. Going for the larger one because I want the larger output for when I use high speed sync...
Can you please tell me if godox TT685F is supported by fujifilm xh2?
Yes, it should work with the XH2. There's discussions about it on DPRreview forums online.
