excellent video! I was not aware of the archinstall command. I am currently running Arch. I was able to install it using a video I found from 2 years ago that still works. Took me a lot longer than what you did but at least I got it up and running. If I ever need to install Arch again I will try it your way. Thanks for the video!!
@@DrewHowdenTech thanks for the fast reply, I've been trying this whole night and eventually got it working. The 43something driver is a time waste I just ran Sudo pacman -Syu Broadcom-wl This upgraded packages and successfully added WiFi, since the hardware wasn't recognised even when using nmtui didn't have any help. I think the issue is with graphics card driver as it os an old quadro 400 card. If you have any advice I would appreciate ot
I have dell latitude D520 . It's old and I have one option is to install arch Linux 32 bit . The archinstall script doesn't work in2024 and I even downloaded old arch Linux iso of 2023 . It still doesn't work . Update the script or the system or refreshing the keyring .. these suggestions I found one the internet all didn't solve the problems
Should be almost instantaneous. The fact that it’s taking really long would suggest that you are not connected, or the website you are trying to ping is down, or not accepting ICMP pings.
Been distro hopping on my linux laptop, I installed endeavourOS and removed all the theming they did on i3 and themed it myself but I still hopped, I think just doing arch myself might be the best solution
Yeah, if you want the most customization power that Linux has to offer. From reading your comment, it seems like you're a new user. If so, I just want to say, the beauty of Linux is how much stuff you can change. You don't like your distribution's default theme or icon set? Change it! You don't like your distribution's default file manager? Change it! You like a desktop environment that another distribution has? Grab that, put it on your distro! It is unfathomable how much customization power you have on Linux. You can change your menus! You can even change your login screen! And that's just to name a few things that you can change! I just want to say, stop this endless "distro hopping" cycle, trying to find "the perfect distro" (which doesn't exist). You need to learn how to make the perfect "distribution" for you. The distributions that currently exist, look at them as just starting points. Also, I wouldn't recommend Arch Linux for a new user. I would go with something that is beginner-friendly, that will be kind to you, right out of the box. The two that I would recommend for a new user are Ubuntu, and Linux Mint. If you're a gamer, I would also throw in Pop!_OS. If you're coming from macOS, I would also throw in Elementary OS. I suggest you pick one of those two, and customize it how you like (again, they're just starting points).
@@DrewHowdenTech I installed the pipewire and checked that it was at maximum, but it's like it doesn't recognize the notebook outputs, only the hdmi volume appears, plugging in a headphone doesn't work either
I would try installing PulseAudio and see if that solves the issue. But before doing that, try restarting, and see if that fixes your issue before doing anything else.
Again, IQ is irrelevant. Arch Linux is targeted at users who are experienced with Linux, so it's not easy for someone who has never used Linux before to install and use.
you didnt show pacman-key --init and populate cmd befor archinstall cmd because i didnt use kye init so it stop installing pkg due to no gpg keys
and at same time gnupg folder cannot be used
Thanks for bringing this issue to my attention. Sorry I wasn’t aware that you had to do this.
Does this have to be done when using archinstall? If so then how would you do it?

How can you enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth? Since it doesn’t install it. Even though you chose to install network thingy for desktop.
What is the output of "lspci -k"?

ugh no matter what I do it fails while partitioning my nvme. "unable to change power state from D3cold to D0, device inaccessible"
Are you able to partition your drive with another partition manager?
I followed the guided install and setup everything.
However when it gets to "startx" the system locks up and I can't do anything.
Try a different graphics driver, depending on your graphics card.
