    Glad you took some time to do some projects for you! You give so much to the modeling community and although I cant speak for everyone, I am grateful for everything I have learned from you! Im going to have to do an AirForce F-35 soon so im glad your doing this. Im lucky enough to have an office with a view of the flight line and the F-35's shoot approaches on our our airfield all the time. That being said, my buddies are wondering why my office is full of Navy aircraft! Not going to explain but I grew up in the "Cradle of Naval Aviation" and its just what I dig. Building a 1/144 F-15 to get me by until i can build an F-35! Again, thank you for sharing your skills because their off the charts!

    Being a Brit I built the KittyHawk F35-B....now thats a pig of a kit, body was super warped, and it can pretty much only be built with everything open, gear down etc, but once built it does look good, your F35-A is looking good so far and the Meng kit looks far less complicated and annoying that the KittyHawk, I just hope the Royal Air Force buys some F35-As now so they'll be easier to build lol

      Everything I’ve ever built from kittyhawk is terrible. The parts usually look nicely detailed but they have horrible fit issues. I won’t buy another kittyhawk kit.

    Beautiful work my friend! I have one of these in my stash along with the Galaxy Model die cut mask for the RAM panels and other raised areas. Definitely looking forward to your progress! 😎👍👍

    If you have trouble getting that film on to domed surfaces, take a look at the greenstuff world chameleon paints and the Vallejo shifters paints. They've pretty much nailed iridescence and pearlescance, gsw even have a holographic paint.

  • @matk4731
    @matk4731 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've been wanting to build one of these . I was worried about the fit but it looks pretty good. It looks way better than the Italeri 1/72.
    Most of the raised areas ore not a differant colour any more. well not on the RAAF F/35A's. Thanks for sharing 👍👍🙃🙃

    Can't wait to see how you're going to finish this bird. Masking all that raised detail or have you thought of another way to do it.
    Side note: Will's foiling of the Edward P51 is uniquely Willified. Watching as you suggested. Maybe I'll learn something.
    Keep up the great work my friend. Really liked the canopy smoke job.

  • @MrPeterson74

    Try cutting down even smaller and fold over a couple of times and then grip the sandpaper with a hemostat. That allows a lot of control in a very small area. Pin point accurate sanding.

    I spent 2 days masking my F35, then they changed the colour scheme so the lines are the same as the main fuselage, apart from around the door panels,,,,,don't know if you're aware of that?
    Cockpit and canopy look sweet,, gonna be a good one👌

    • @seanerk5kt9
      @seanerk5kt9  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wasn’t aware of that. I’ll check some references. I noticed on some of the A models I was looking at, some of them were the fuselage color. I think I’m going to spray the lighter color over the tape, then apply masking tape over top and cut it. Then spray the fuselage color. It’ll still be a pain in the arse but might save a lot of time doing it the other way.

    • @clonefox80
      @clonefox80 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@seanerk5kt9 yeah man, it was also quite therapeutic doing all the masking,,zen moments,,have you got any ideas on what I might build, I've got a couple of big kits,,Revell 1/32 F/A 18, and a Red Arrow,, a 1/12 F104 Starfighter model cockpit,,,but I fancy building something quicker and smaller, no lights.
      Need some suggestions man,, you're the 1/48 'King'

    • @seanerk5kt9
      @seanerk5kt9  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those sound really cool. I’d really be interested in the 1/32 revell f18. If you want something really quick in 48...I’d go with Tamiyas F-14. You can build it in 2 days. Best kit I’ve ever built. Plus I might’ve heard somewhere that you like f-14s;). The hasegawa 1/48 f-16 and revell f-15e (new mold) are pretty good kits as well.

    I have a couple questions, and a remark. First, what brushes are you using? I really like them. Second, where can I buy the Mr. Surfacer Leveling Thinner? And finally, my remark... Almost 25 years ago now I was a Crew Chief (Maintainer) on the B-2 Bomber and we had a similar tape that was used to cover panel lines. I haven't been up close to an F-35, but to my eye, the tape lines on the model are too proud of the surface. In other words, if you scaled the entire model up to 1:1, those tape lines would be way too thick. You may just have to live with it though. It's merely an observation from my perspective. Great work though.

      www.amazon.com/dp/B01FJ90O0W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_btf_t1_w-buFbJ2KGYXE
      I just get the leveling thinner on eBay from whomever sells it the cheapest. As for the tape, I hear that’s a problem in all of the kit brands that make this plane...since I don’t get worked up over such things, I don’t see it as much of an issue. I guess if someone had the tenacity, they could sand it all down.
