Hey everyone. Some of you are worried about me not covering all three in one go. PLEASE NOTE: I filmed all of my analysis back-to-back! I cut them up into three videos, and once all three have been released, you will get an omnibus edit for those of you who prefer to watch them all together - you can enjoy the journey, or wait for that one. My analyses are usually quite in-depth; as you'll see if you read the comments, quite a few people agree to my decision to split them up, so please hold your comments before you watch. If you just come into my comments section to be snarky, please take that energy elsewhere. A little respect hasn't hurt anyone. Much love and have fun!

Really enjoying your analysis!! As far as his guerrilla filmmaking, he's been tossed out of his chosen location at least 3 times (HI REN, WHAT YOU WANT, and most spectacularly BLIND EYED FT. ANGRY CARPARK ATTENDANT). Ren was asked once in an interview what he looks for when he chooses the locations for his videos. "I look for lax security." was his answer.
I really like the MacGyver type feel of these Ren videos. "We've got a guitar, a lapel mike, a book of matches, a paper clip and two sticks of gum. What can we do with that?" I also sometimes fear for the bones of the camera guy, walking around backwards all the time.
I did see that in the description they credit a "First AC" (first camera assistant), and while traditionally the First AC is charged with focusing the lens, I don't think that was the case here - they probably had him walk behind Sam so that he wouldn't fall while walking back. Because you're right, it is scary!
@@manondereeper if you get to watch Power by Ren, Samuel is driving the car It's a good song but not the most cinematic (two guys driving around in a car)

🎥🔥As a filmmaker/retired actor myself, I know you'd love reviewing Ren's video "Animal Flow". Ren's vision in this video had to be heavily mapped out in staging, choreography and storyboarding including camera shots and angles. This video is very ambitious, true one camera one shot. The music used in the video is the actual studio recording, not live like in HI Ren, Tale of Jenny and Screech or Money Game's 1 & 3. The song itself is influenced by George Orwell's "Animal Farm" & has a subtle reference from the book in the MV. The concept and filming style is HEAVILY influenced by Stanley Kubrick's work and contains easter eggs from different Kubrick films throughout Ren's video as a tribute to Kubrick. Cheers🍻
Thanks for another interesting analysis. I love how - next to all the quick flashy music videos - they managed to keep it so simple (in a good way!) and calm. Didn't know Ren's music yet, but I'm curious to check out more. So I'll be counting down to your next video 🙂
Great reaction, hearing a film maker's perspective on Ren and Sam's work is so interesting because it points out things that I had never really thought of before. Many say that everything Ren and Sam do in their videos is intentional, I really don't know if that is 100% true but little details that you pointed out, like the "girl on the swing", just adds to my respect and admiration for their work if intentional. I know that you'll be equally impressed by the other two parts of the trilogy but I'm really looking forward to seeing what you make of "Money Game 3" when you get to it.
Wow, such a 🔥🔥🔥reaction, loved it. It’s also worth noting that Ren is a busker so he is used to and comfortable doing live performances. Just to add a small thing, now that I'm nearly at the end of the reaction. Ren's videos that are one shot, usually take multiple takes to get right. So they did rehearse it, and had multiple goes at it. His music "Money game" is said to have taken nearly 200 takes to get the "One Take", Hi Ren on the other hand, because of their "Guerrilla style" only afforded them 4 takes. Great reaction, love the insights into the camerawork and editing. Just as a headsup for when you inevitably get to the Money Game Trilogy: It took Ren and Sam a week and 179 takes to get the video for MG1 right. The second should be the lyrics video even if it is not really something shot with a camera. The version is simply superior to the one with the video. The third (and most current) video of him is a masterpiece for which Sam and Ren even got awards. It is mind blowing. It is not quite a one take (got cut once) because Ren owned just one suit (you will know why that is the reason when watching the video). Anyway, you gained a RENegate follower and I am looking forward to what ever comes next 😊
I think we get mixed up sometimes between one take and one shot. REN’s videos are often one shot. but may take a number of takes to get that one shot. 😊

A shot in the dark for you.... You could reach out to Sam Perry, through Ren's team and ask him for an interview, he has done interviews for You Tubers before,, it could bring a whole new perspective to us his fans and a greater understanding of how Sam and Ren work together, from the interviews I have seen Ren has a vision and along with Sam they work tirelessly (Ren's song Genesis took over 180 takes I believe before they got the 1 take.) to make it happen, but we never learn how Sam makes it happen. "Edit" th-cam.com/video/g9m6Ji8IcpY/w-d-xo.html This is an interview Sam did with Joe E Sparks...
She's doing the other ones. She's just doing them individually. It's a better way of doing it. There's no reason they all need to be watched in one sitting as long as the order is correct.
Yes, Ren said they spent hours and hours fine-tuning the sound from his lapel mic on these live recordings, and he almost feels proud whenever someone says (Nah, that must be lip-synched, there's no way you can get this quality with live sound!)

Did you know that manon is a very welsh name , I'm just mentioning it being as ren is welsh. I'm curious to know if it's a popular name in your country , great reactions to our boi ❤
To be honest i typically like live versions of songs better than the studio versions. So id prefer this than the lip sync or perform along
I heard a director say that every cut is a lie.
So he tried to do the bare minimum in character building scenes or something
No point in doing just the Jenny tale, you need to do all three!

It's truly very impressive!
In an interview with Elizabeth Zharoff from The Charismatic Voice he talks about how much effort and care he puts into the sound mix.
Are you going to do the whole trilogy?
Its like three chapters of a complete story
Just wondering if you knew
🙂
100% - this upcoming week is REN WEEK! All three videos in a row. Jenny's Tale on Wednesday, Screech on Sunday, Violet next week Wednesday. \o/
@@manondereeper You watch the all three in a row and publish them separatly or you watch them on different days?
@@Mickael_ Watched all three in a row. Full trilogy omnibus edit coming after all three have gone live separately. (Much like Ren did himself)
@@manondereeper cool I will wait for the full edit then 👍😉
you should have done all 3 vids of the tales , much better x
Clearly a one take, but interested to know if you have any sympathy with idea that every cut is a lie
We're only lying to tell the truth ;)
@@manondereeper 😆
STOP...YOU MUST!!! Do the trilogy in order...the 13 minute version. Otherwise, you'll deprive yourself of the magic.
