Took me about 12 hours over the course of 3 days and a couple different TIDs, but seeing shiny Treecko pop out was so worth it! One tip I learned that may help a lot of people is, if you notice you are consistently hitting one or two frames early/late, do not adjust EonTimer further; small adjustments like that seem to throw it off. If you’re calibrated and always hitting, say a frame early, just adjust your target frame a frame later. So much more consistent that way! Great video!
Hey, i tried this method a time ago where the gen 3 seed assistant wasnt there. Then after a time i had motivation again for the shiny and started to look for new tutorials. I discovered yours and you explained it so well. Especially with the explanation of the gen 3 seed assistant you helped me so much and now i got the shiny treecko. Thanm you very much enjoying your content 🙏
The options menu at the "new game" screen can set your text speed to fast if you don't want to make a save file and then another one. The eon timer has a pretimer that will do a countdown for when you are resetting. So you don't really need that other timer if you don't want it. Also if you click the start button on eon timer you can use the space bar to stop and restart it if you'd rather have a keyed start/stop.
If you're playing on an emulator on the same PC with access to tools like Finder and Timer, it seems logical that someone could program the timer to automate an "A" input perfectly each time. This would eliminate human error and ensure consistent performance. It’s a straightforward task for a programmer, leveraging automation scripts or simple macro software to achieve precise timing. The fact it hasn't been widely adopted after all these years is weird to me. Like we have software that could be calibrated to anyone’s game and somehow “magically” know exactly what stats/nature/shiny modifier each frame is until eternity. But there is yet to be an “auto A” program 🤯
Thank you!! After 8 hours and missing for 1-2 frames like 20 times I got my shiny mudkip, my first shiny ever 🥹🥹🥹 Original GBA Emerald game in GBA. Thanks a lot man! I don't comment in a lot of videos but you deserve it 🎉❤
Cool video - very thorough! I have a hard time getting my head around people shiny hunting these starters without RNG manipulation. If they get unlucky (e.g. they get a TID&SID like yours on frame 1000) and they would need to wait 3+ mins for the first shiny frame, does that mean they are never realistically going to get a shiny? Assuming that a non-RNG hunger would under no circumstances wait 3 mins in front of the bag after starting the game? Or do those non-RNG hunters do a full reset of the game every once in a while to make sure they did not get unlucky with their TID/SID?
I agree with you, doing this without RNG Manipulation on Emerald is just not doable in the long run. Seed is always 0 and you can't SR everytime because you're closest shiny frame might be 5 minutes apart. In Gen 3, full odds it's only doable on Ruby & Sapphire, unless you're very lucky on Emerald.
So I've been trying to do this for a bit, watching all sorts of videos and whatnot. I don't know what is wrong with my timing because I keep getting like 20+ frames off the normal attempts. I am practicing the 950 frames by just resetting at the starting pokemon to see if I am hitting the right one. I don't know why I am hitting so far from the target since I feel like I am hitting it at the time it ends. Granted I don't know if it's the beginning of the beep you need to hit or the end. Another thing I've been trying to figure out is let's say I've gotten the time down to where I have it calibrated and am now hitting the frame/ close to the frame I need. If I were to reset for a ID frame, so the 1000, would keeping the calibration work?
@@justinlevesque8417 so basically eon timer works like this, when you press the start button it only begins the timer when you click off of the button. So even if you hold the button it won't start until you released. Also when rolling for the seed when you make your character there is no lag, so it shouldn't need calibration in the beginning. I just adjusted my timer for what I needed and didn't calibrate it to be honest. So if I hit 100 frames after my target I would subtract 100 from my timer.
thanks boi i got my first shiny mudkip in like 2 hours of trial and error haha it is definitely a time sensitive method but it definitely works for the non believers out there
I just started trying this out recently and every time I hit the button, I'm always one or two frames early. Did hit the exact frame a couple times though but have not found the correct secret ID with the shiny yet.
I did this. It took me a while to get the right frame (1.5 hours of resets) but my frame was the first secret ID I tried! Frame 899. Thanks for the guide!

Question for yourself or anyone else who has been successful doing this while playing on a gameboy SP, is there a way to become more accurate with hitting the frames (I know skill issue) I seem to be off by at least 10 or so most of the time, just wondering if I’m bad or if there is something I can be doing to make it easier on myself?
I'm using a Japanese copy of Emerald. If I am aiming for frame 1000 on the Researcher do I still use the starting frame of 950 in the Eon/FlowTimer or is there a different one for a Japanese copy? I have been trying for weeks with no luck and I'm usually somewhat precise on my RNGs for Ruby/Sapphire. I'm using a handheld GBA for the RNG.

Hey bro, I had the very same issue and I was going crazy but I think I now know the reason why - I am playing on an emulator which while probably close to the 60fps may be slightly above (saw some people getting like 60.18fps or something). I kept getting super high shiny frames, like 10k or above which I still kept going for but I was way off on all of them (like 100+ frames late sometimes), but it's probably that because of the slightly higher framerate I was going through the frames quicker than I should, I finally bothered to adjust the eon timer by putting in the frame hit and what do you know... I finally started hitting what I should, already managed to rule out 2 SID and I was just 1 frame off another one. Didn't think it would make that big of a difference but it does, if you give it another go try that aswell and let me know

ah okay. so the frames start as soon as the game loads; from the copyright screen. I'm gunning for a female Torchic and hopefully a nature that doesn't hinder it lol. I have restarted from a new game about four or five times but already the closest shiny female is 34,316 frames which is about 9 minutes and 35 seconds. in past attempts it was 60K or 140K or 300K frames away. on like the third day without completely restarting for a new TID and rewatching this video I learned to recalibrate the eon timer and I landed on the target frame after about five hours into my shift (my job has a lot of downtime lol) but while all the stats and nature lined up with what the seed assistant shows the only thing that wasn't true in the game was the shiny-ness. idk if, while calibrating, I should just insert each frame hit without clearing it or just keep updating the calibration with the frame hit. but yeah according to the stats and gender I hit the target frame. but since it's not shiny imma try a different SID from the researcher
@@ItsLazyHunter yo I finally got the shiny female Torchic! I had to target a "square" instead of a "star" in the Static window. Also despite the slim odds for that combo of shinyness and gender, I only had to hit Yes after 23,306 advances. Thanks for the vid!

Thanks for the vid!
can you still rng if your trainer id starts with 00 like how do you find the hexadecimal number for your potential SID
yes, it's the same way I cover in the video. You just have to input 3 characters instead of 5. You don't put the 00s
I'm beyond unlucky with this.. I've spent 2 entire days trying. Not even going out, even skipped the gym and still don't know my secret ID lol. That's an entire weekend wasted right there lmao. I'll have to start a new save file to get short af times. I ain't waiting no more than 2 minutes per a attempt at this point 😤😡
The time on my eon timer is like half cropped out. Any idea how I can fix that?
I am having the same problem, did you find a solution?
@@justinlevesque8417 i did just cant remember what i did. Google "eon timer fix reddit" I'm pretty sure I found the solution there.
can't seem to do it, hit the frame once in so many attempts for it to be the wrong sid smh
I got a shiny zigzagoon instead, can this help me in any way? I’m quite sure I hit the correct frame afterwards on that specific SID and my starter wasn’t shiny.. does anyone have any knowlegde or tips on this
It can help you get the SID/TID, not the shiny starter anymore ofc 😅
@@ItsLazyHunter can you tell me how this can help me find the right TID/SID combination? I'm still trying to get the shiny starter
@@jesperjvdw I’ve heard the starter’s frame is 2.35-2.38 seconds away (couldn’t find an exact number) from Zigzagoon, so if you know the timing that gave you the Zigzagoon, you can wait a little longer before picking your starter. I’ve successfully used this method to get a shiny starter twice in Emerald. Best of luck!
Does the cartridge need to have a dead battery or it doesn’t matter?
It doesn't matter for Emerald
@@ItsLazyHunter what If you have a bootleg cartridge? Will it work on that too or nah?
@@fluffyjr.3085 yeah
@@ItsLazyHunter interesting. I’ll try it out
does the internal battery have to be dry for this to work?
For Emerald no
Guys is it possible to shiny hunt with a bootleg cartridge of emerald and sapphire?
Excelente explicação, obrigado!
does my emerald cartridge have to have a working battery or can it be dead?
It can be dead
@@ItsLazyHunter okay awesome thank you so much for answering
I tried from 990 to 1010 and it was none, should i go further or just start all over again
I'd just go again and try to be as precise as possible
thanks for the answer, i re started. I also tried to be precise, wish me luck. @@ItsLazyHunter
I keep having this issue too. Even after 5 TID resets, can’t seem to find my SID. Some attempts I’m frame perfect back to back, I can’t be that off when getting my TID
@@ahmedelguindi3193 on my second try I was able to find my SID. it was 6 frames late.
wow this is taking longer than expected🤣
Yeah it can be very tedious but it will be worth at the end!

Thanks LH got my shiny treecko on my 4th try -from South Korea
Nice work!
do i need to be playing the rom on pc? i play on a ps vita
no, you can play the ROM in any system
does this work on a sapphire/ruby dry battery??
I have a tutorial on that 👍
Work for psp ?
so my question is how do i get my seed in the calc if my tid starts with 0
my tid is 04546
you don't input your 0, that's it
does this work with a dry battery?
Yes
Does this work with a dry battery?
Yes
how do i use gen 3 seed assistant on MAC?
You can use PokeFinder, watch my video on Static RNG, it's the same method without Gen3seed
THANK U BRO
PLS VIDEO MANIPULATION RNG RED FIRE AND LEAF GREEN 🙏
Coming soon!
Is frame 993 pretty early?
I ended up just exporting my sav to my computer and found my SID and when I input it into pokefinder it gave me star shiny on advance 993
@@joel198d wait what you can do that how?
@@jellevandervoort5225 with pkhex and using a cart reader/ writer to get your gba save file onto your computer . You can also migrate pokemon up to your ds and 3ds to use pksm on a modded ds to see your TID
i need help
legit vouched
I cant hit the frame to save my life 😭
Hit me up on discord in the description and we can check your situation 👍
same bro sometimes it feels impossible, i keep hitting 1 over or 1 frame early sometimes. but I've hit target frame like 7 times already and no shiny
@@andresgauna2890 I feel like its a timer issue on my end. I just cant calibrate it right.
Also if you hit the target frame and its not a shiny then thats not your SID. Try a different one
@@SoLCollectR yea that’s what I meant to say I’ve tried 7 different SID and no shiny. Also I’m always like 25 frames early from my target frame so I recalibrate it and then I hit target frame. So I think I need to check SID starting from advance 975 and up
@@andresgauna2890 Good luck man. Hope you get it Im about ready to give up on this 😂
This feels a lot like cheating 😂 but in a more analogic way, but i understand why this is the only way, this is why everyone says shiny in emerald are broken i guess ill just give up for now and have fun with non shiny
Also how am i suppose to be so precise on the timings if I'm playing in a real gameboy advance 😢
I'm getting a "Invalid input" message after inputing the stats into seed assistant. Does anybody know why?
can we discuss this on my Discord? :)
