      OK...we successfully replaced BOTH L&R Headlight assemblies! Thanks to the detailed MotorCity Mechanic TH-cam above, the job went smoothly & easily as expected. NOT difficult at all...just time consuming. Everything lined up spot on during the reassembly. Thank You once again to the MotorCity Mechanic folks for a concise & detailed video for what could otherwise be a pain in the neck job made simple.

    Thanks for the informative video. It definitely revealed an important tip... This is no DIY job for me. Honestly, Dodge how hard can you make it to change a headlight housing? Our Ford, I undid two bolts, popped off the housing and installed a new one... About 15 minutes to do both sides.... Well things you learn. Again, thanks for helping me avert a DIY I don't want to mess with.

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Older vehicles were so much easier but all brands have made it harder and harder to remove the entire assembly. That smooth aerodynamic front end comes at a price....everything gets hidden behind it. Luckily its something that doesnt get replaced often unless you damaged it in a wreck or if water starts getting inside or if you upgrading. Thanks for the comment and for watching. I spent an hour trying to get to the 10mm nut. I tried socket wrenches, open and box end wrenches. I tries a flexible screw driver type also. Nothing worked. Finally, I removed tire, 3 or 4 more pins in the wheel well and the abs cable. I could easily access the 10mm nut. Took me all of 5 minutes to remove the tire, pins, abs cable and the 10mm nuts. I would recommend removing the wheel well.

    Very informative video! Used it to replace the headlights on my '09 RT. Also replaced the fog lamps while the bumbler cover was out, and it was very easy. I did find it easier to remove the tires and gain access to the nuts from the wheel well. Thanks again!

      Most vehicles on the road today have to have the front bumper cover removed inorder to replace the headlamp assemblies. Replacing the bulbs only....well thats a different story and alot easier and doesnt require the assembly removal.

      LOL my Crown Vic got it right in 1998 to 2011 same design. All you need to do is remove the top core support shield and there is four slide down clips. Pull them up and the headlights come out. None of this bumper cover removal non sense.

    Great vid.Ive watched all of your tutorials regarding the front end radiator,fan and finally removing the fascia to get to the radiator so I had an easier time get the condenser bolts off.Any way went and bought some new headlights halo style since I already have the front off.They are compatible with my 07 charger but I was reading the reviews and it was mentioned the wires need to be spliced to the parking light anyway it would be great if you could make a quick viddie on how to do that.Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.

    If we are replacing the housing, should we be concerned with adjusting the headlight ?

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question. There are times that when you make a video....you look back and thing that you could have added this or added that. Showing the adjustment of the headlamps would have been a nice touch and needed item. When replacing the assembly it is recommended to adjust them. Good catch and appreciate you pointing that out. I need to do a video on that adjustment at some point. Thanks again and make sure to subscribe

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ray castaneda Evening, you surely can get the local Dodge dealership to order you some. Other options are your local parts store and check out their "Help" section to see if they have any avail. Otherwise a plastic rivet with a good sized head will work fine as well.

      +MotorCity Mechanic I purchased nylon rivets and push fasteners from an online website www.shop-supplies.com and you can watch my short video where I remove my bumper and list the exact part number I ordered from the website. I'm having a bear of a time getting the 10mm nut off. The space is tiny and Dodge seems to have engineered it to be a pain in the ass. Is there a trick to making that easier? In the video you didn't show how you did it do I'm not sure if you used something special to get at it.

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Travis Harp Chrysler doesn't make any mention on how to removal that 10mm. I am not sure if you would have easier access with the fender well liners removed and access thru the wheel opening. Each time I have removed them from up above.....its not easy by any means but the manner I used. If I have another to do again......I will try the wheel well opening to see if it helps to make it easier. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe

    Is this what you have to do to replace the seal? Moisture is getting in somewhere.

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only seal is around the headlight bulbs. Otherwise it may be coming in at the seams. That would require replacement of the assembly and it might not look right with one new assembly and one a slightly different shade....so I always recommend replacing them in pairs.

    • @MotorCityMechanic

      To remove the headlamp assemblies....not the bulbs? Thats about a 1-1.5 hr job. So depends on the hourly shop rate. Looking around $70-$100. Some shops charge more per hour so that can go up from there.

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The lens does not come off. It is made in separate pieces at the manufacture then an adhesive is added to both halves and then its latched together. You can see the latches on the sides but its glued together. You can no separate them.

    • @harryjr8884
      @harryjr8884 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      so I would have to buy a whole new light asembly? if so do you know how I can fix the cloudy part, without buying a new one?

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The majority of the headlamps become cloudy due to outside. Not the inside. They make alot of different lense clearing kits....but there isnt anything for the inside so make sure to take a close look at the assembly to see what size is the issue. Otherwise you will need to replace the assembly if the issue is inside.
