- Unakoti is a place in the North East of India where carvings of Gods and Goddesses lie abandoned on a hill. In numbers, these statues are one less than a crore and are in the form of rock cut structures. Nobody knows how and when these carvings were made. With mythological reasoning behind the existence of the statues, Unakoti is a discovery in itself.

There is many mythology behind this as Par Rajmala Tripuri kings after moving to present to Tripura who were once believe to stalled in Tibet region near by kailash wanted to bring siva from Kailash to tripura but Siva was not ready so the king prayed to lord Siva many years the Lord become happy and promised the king to visit along with all the gods, and to keep his promise and let the people know left behind the images since twima or ganga have no physical form she remain as water stream and flows.....many people come to this place and write their own story which is not part of our local story, another saying goes before kaliyug the last day of tretayug God's assembled in this mountain and ascended to heaven, to left their symbol they turned into imaged so that in kaliyug people will worship them... It's never known as gobardhan parbat....... In local tripuri language unakuti is known as subarai Khung. Note: Siva is known as subarai raja in tripuri language, and the tripuri mythology says after kailash tripura is the second home of Siva. Siva is so much worshipped by tripuris that their 47th king Subarai raja/Triluchana is considered as the incarnation of lord Siva.
