This drummer impresses me. He does a lot with a very limited set up and it doesn't sound boring or repetitive to me.
Mat is the best.
There's some videos of him playing music on just a garbage can lid.
Lars O'Keefe agreed
He is also very hot, I must say
Are you new to drums? A totally different musical experience, but, you should check out Greg Saunier from Deerhoof. The dude makes a 3 piece kit sound like the invasion of Normandy.
I put this in the background for 20 minutes, and I was very shocked when I saw them all shirtless lol
did the exact same thing
Honestly, something about Brian singing with such a strained voice like this, gives the music a really cool sound. I dig it.
9:50 i love how he just drops the tambourine and picks up the other stick
pls i love that sm 😭
on the "you're a werewolf, and i'm a full moon" line he sounding like he was going awooooooo like a werewolf... love this band so fricken much man
This was when Brian was sick/threw his voice out for a little bit. I felt so bad for him, because you could tell he was giving it his all. Still, so much love for these dudes forever.
tattooed tears was rough man
And on top of that. This music isn't easy to sing. I pride myself on having a good range, and I find my voice cracking while trying to cover these songs. Even more credit to Brian being able to preform while sick and still sound great.
In skeleton the part where he says “but when i hear your voice i feel like im already there!!” I actually liked that change
You can tell Matt really loves drumming & playing with TFB.
Skeleton: 0:35
Be Nice To Me: 4:52
Au Revoir: 8:32
Santa Monica: 12:03
Tattooed Tears: 17:35
Lipstick Covered Magnet: 23:30
I love you
You are going to be granted a full pass to heaven. Be expecting it in the mail February 31st, of 2009.
the only broken-hearted loser you'll ever need nah it’s just expired, lol
I hope you make it, tanner. Maybe you have made it, but if you haven’t, do so.
thanks
Imagine it’s your first time listening to TFB and Brian has a sore throat. 😂
his lil werewolf howl absolutely sent me
touched grass since commenting this?
have you learned to be a less insufferable human being since replying to this?
The tone on that bass is beautiful!
The drummer is a MANIAC! The whole band is amazing in their own right.
the bassist in this session taught me for a couple of years in a music academy, he told me how badly brian was sick during this session and it’s mad respectable
I like how they've started going really hard in their live performances...
His voice makes me sad in this, but he still goes on 😭 love him
lmao, the "Dab Religion" shirt. oh, brian.
holy shit I saw this and was like "I don't remember commenting this.."
Lmao. I saw the email notification and before I noticed it was a different person I thought "I don't remember responding to my own comment.."
lmao
It's a GDP/Hash Money shirt
L, I didn't notice until see this comment
When Matt throws down the tambourine...
The R Kelly as a father option has not aged well.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I just thought that
he's been engaged in inappropriate sexual activity for at least 20 years prior to this interview, so. it was in poor taste right from the start -- from a funny point of view, its funny.
@@falloutboy0403 yeah questionable reference from the get go hahah
Is there any instrument the keyboardist cant play?! So talented!
2014? don't hold back on these gems
This band makes such incredibly effective simple songs that uses very simple composition techniques in complicated ways that doesn't make the music sound like its a complex as it is, but devilishly simple
Every single one of them killed it.
Is the drummer's name Mat? I love how he smiles at the camera whilst drumming its really cute and kind of disturbing and makes me happy.
I am stupidly in love with him and everything he does
me too dude, no homo
Oh you like jim from the office too?
God Brian's voice is fucked. And they still sound great!
Probably cuz of all the shows, they were touring with Brand New
This was actually recorded two years ago!
what took so damn long
Zakk2Gud the individual songs have been up since. idk why it took so long to put up the full thing.
It's been on Audiotree.com the whole time but they're just now putting full sessions on youtube as well!
What the... Where'd MY shirt go?
I've been a massive TFB fan for about four years and tend to love AudioTree performances more than studio recordings, and have somehow never seen this performance?? It's beautiful. Santa Monica has never been among my favorite TFB songs, but this version is absolutely wonderful
i come back to this video every month and its still so good every time
Holy crap! How have I never heard these guys before?! It's like early Brand New meets Motion City Sountrack to the power of fucking awesome.
The lead singer has a voice that reminds me of some of the lead vocalists from the UK and Ireland from back in the 80s. Sounds good.
do they slowly take off all their shirts to make the viewer uncomfortable or to ease us into be comfortable with it
Thomas Anderson i was thinking the same thing
I think they're just hot
Drew McDaniel Music I doubt they can have ac or fans on while they are recording cause it would mess with the audio. I'm pretty sure they are just getting really hot
"Uncomfortable"
...b o t h
Every single member just plays/sings spectacularly. They all have these huge auras and they're just melting together into these magnificent songs
I'm so glad that I found this video (and that it was posted). I've fallen even more in love with this band because of this video..and I didn't think that was possible. They are so raw, so natural, so full of intent when they perform their music. They've made this their life and their passion and it really shows. I'm so glad that The Front Bottoms exists, their music has got me through so much. TFB for life.
3 years after this recording and these guys are still my fav!!
all of their shirts slowly disappear
I think I've been a fan now for over eight years and I can't imagine my life without this amazing music. just saw you guys on 10/5/21 at the warfield, fucking amazing. much fucking love
You know what I thinks really sad? I know how really sad you are..those lyrics get me
I watch this like once a week. Still one of my fave TFB sessions on youtube to watch
bless brians poor lil voice
Spoiler alert: By the end of this video, everyone is shirtless
i didnt believe you at first but in the end i was shirtless too. and pantless
@@lucaspintooc Did you at least have undergarments on?
is this why they're called the front bottoms? because they like showing off their belly bottoms the whole way?
@@Talmuck the front bottoms means vagina im sorry to be the one to inform you
@@ratsinawall yeah makes sense
Reminder to self: 24:14 to 24:21 is hilarious
This video brings me eternal happiness honestly 🤷♀️
ok but the drummer is kinda cute
Literally. My heart!
*very
KINDA?
Mat is amazing
The strained voice just makes it more punk
Gah, this performance makes me smile uncontrollably and get a little teary eyed at the same time. I absolutely love it.
Who didn't use a coaster when they set their drink on the bass player's chest?!
LionRedoux i'm so sorry...
Now that was fuckin funny! Cheers, pal!
I love this band. I can’t wait to see them live sometime soon.
Finally, a performance where the singer isn't completely sick and voiceless
Brian had a sore throat during this video
@@nyetnyetcykablyat9483 all his life*
Dude, that keyboard/brass player is mad cute.
You’re talking with your friends, their sitting on your bed, all you want is sleep, and all you’ll get is heaa- 👀
when u forget to post a video for 2 years
I've grown fond of the way Brian says "oh god". It's genuinely pathetic.
feels like 50 years of shit have taken place since I first saw this
bro this host is tweakinggg
lol his throat is sore so he has to sing from his lungs instead from his high throat/nasal/head like he always does.
Nicolas Cage goes with his daughter to anime conventions. Would def make a good step dad.
I love this channel - you guys always have such great music on here. I also love how awkward the presenters are - adds extra spice to each show!
the question portion is awkward but the drumming is amazing and the song is great i love brian’s voice
i love playing front bottoms on trumpet, easily my favorite, but the pieces are hard to find so you have to free ear it most of the time
Yes! There songs are so hard to find! I have horrible pitch so free earing it is always really hard for me 😂
I didn't realize how good this band was until now, very good.
I feel like I must have watched 100 different Audiotree Live sessions with lots of great bands at this point but I keep coming back to this one most often. Such amazing energy and honestly I think I prefer sick Brian vocals over the studio versions. The interviewer is more annoying than average imo, but the performance is incredible!
thought this session was recently, WTF??! hah...still tight.
Marlon De Aquino audiotree just makes everything sound so good
i would love him to cover some blink 182 songs sounds like tom
matt and brian look so happy here, i love it
also brians strained voice, he's giving it all despite being sick xd
and the host guy is pretty cute and friendly
I love how Brian uses an acoustic guitar and the rest of it it mixed is really good.
no one:
the announcer dude every 0.025 seconds: *tHiS iS aUdIoTrEe LiVe YOuR'e lIsTeNinG tO tHe FrOnT bOtToMs*
Love coming back to this video
The R Kelly comment didn’t age well
they had the trumpet out and didn't play father 😭
oh this made me so excited to finally get to see them perform live in a couple months
The editing on this is 10/10 🏆
tight from touring i knew it! great job
Rise Against meets Blink 182 meets Dropkick Murphys? I DIG!
Absolutely love tfb and met them last week such nice guys!! this video is dope bit late though haha
The editing & cutting is done very well.
Why are the audiotree interviewers always so damn awkward?
It just interrupts the flow. Ask questions at the beginning or end in a sit down format but let the musicians jam
A lot of them seem like the interviewer is actually a big fan of the band and just get weirdly nervous or anxious about meeting them.
@@morenoiseplease3605 this is probably the truth
this one didnt feel awkward at all, just a bunch of bros being bros
I think the interviewer was bad. especially the stepdad question.
Love they included a song with trumpet. And that he plays the trumpet instead of using the keyboard
they mentioned manchester orchestra :)
yeah, manchester orchestra is one of my favorite bands ever and i absolutely love TBF i was so happily surprised when i heard mancheser orchestra :)
Came for the rhythm stayed for the lyrics.
The R. Kelly commentary didn’t age well... lol.
This is the year I first got into them, the best year :)
2014 that is
Oh wow, this is 10 years old on the dot. I’m only 25 and it makes me feel ancient
god damn it i love this band
1:26 Michael Cera on drums.
Thicc Michael Cera on drums
C'mon don't disrespect my boy Matt like that
The interviewer is such an odd ball lol I love it
That’s Joe from Joe Hertler & the Rainbow Seekers!!
Damn, y’all remember going to live music? 🤧
loved the drums
can you bring these guys back now or what??
I'm so disappointed they didn't put this performance on iTunes :(
I just love there sound
Gracoas! desde Uruguay. estoy en cuarentena y estoy haciendo pogo.
I love the front bottoms
Damn that's a sick Bad Religion shirt. Love them so much
I can't wait to see them live in June. I might die
Love the scooby doo/simple plan vibes 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
i love the trumpeter
Audiotree is my favourite series
so much energy in every one of their songs
At 12:52 you can hear Brian starting to sing the wrong verse (its such a big city...)
Come back to Seattle! I will give you all my money!
I see that dab rig peaking out from behind the left of those keys. Nice eheh. Nice music, glad I found this.
Supreme anything is a dab rig if you're dedicated enough
Ur an idiot, that is the mouthpiece of the trumpet.
