When I was in college, there was a jeweler who swept his sidewalks and vacuumed the cracks once a week. And he deposited the results in a separate account just for his vacation every year!!
I love that you didn't answer the "how did it all get there" question and just told them that they clearly didn't watch the first few minutes of your original video and if they want to know that answer they can go back and rewatch it. That's the perfect response!
Haha exactly. He literally said it’s because it’s in the Diamond district where people drop stuff and where the jewelry makers kick up some gold dust. And I mean I could see people dropping pieces of jewelry because maybe they gave a piece that needs fixing and on their way in a piece falls off it or something.
Gold does not just flake off and crumble if it's stepped on and kicked around. It's malleable. If an earring drops and is stepped on, it's going to squash the prongs or bend the post and maybe eventually work into a blob of mangled gold. But gold dust or the flour gold? It would take forever for a small bit of gold to be trampled into flour gold.
I always thought that the old miners bit gold nuggets with their teeth and if it left an imprint it was gold, but apparently it's the other way around?
The weird one you thought was cut strange, looks like an antique rose cut. Typically they're from late 18th to early 20th century and therfore more valuable to jewelers.
The funny part is that cleaning the sidewalks might actually be the only legal way of prospecting in New York. NY has a law that states that all minerals and precious metals found in the state (even on your property) belong to the state and you can not remove them.
@@tamispock3617 basically just buying permission to live there considering you don't own the physical rights to the earth. so renting but more expensive
In Brazil buying land only give you rights to build and everything above the ground, but others can have mineral rights on your property. Anything you find digging belongs to the government. Here we like to take the worst ideas from outside of Brazil and implement.

Yellow diamond looks old mine, rose cut. Congratulations! I've been cutting stones up to Sapphires, since a teenager, for fun & profit and yes - they fall everywhere. As of late, been eyeing a way to repair diamonds - but that takes more than diamond paste and the laps I do have.

Thanks for such educational and inspiring content 🙏
sounds like a good kid, hoping the best for your family
Very good ;pickings! I'll have to try it myself next time I'm in Soho London. Cool vid.
Fantastic stuff Shane. Congratulations to the winners.
I found what now I believe was a raw diamong in a creek where there was no trash or broken glass.
I didn't know what raw dismonds looked like at the time and threw it away in my fire pit.
After reviewing diamonds I saw that it looked like the raw diamonds. I didn't go digging for it because I'm not well enough.
Aww!
Another awesome video Shane. Thanks for all your hard work.
Bro u are so cool, don’t let hate in ur heart ❤️🏅
It’s pretty cool that in retesting the found gemstones you demonstrate how these little buggers end up on the street. They fly away!
Great video
As always another great video 👍👍 .. I always enjoy your content be it gold prospecting , metal detecting or coin roll hunting , geocaching and occasionally different ones like this one... Well until next time .. God Bless and Be Safe ..
Don E. In Denver
That was really cool!
You can also check for moissanite under a jeweler's loupe for double refraction.
Superb follow up!
There’s no way in hell anybody would go through that toxic, infectious waste if it were fake!
It’s funny how many people ask questions that the video already answers and there’s a lot that you could figure out on your own by simply using common sense!
Haha yeah i know right
i remember a western movie i watched years ago where one of the characters gave free hair cuts to the miners of the town. i think he was given a hard time or something. but later on he shook out all the fine gold that fell in the hair while they worked. i didnt think it was real but this lends some credence to it.
u need one of those gem pickers with the wax tip. good video...nice finds!
I’ve been a subscriber since. Met you on Dan Hurds channel with Pioneer Pauly in there also. You three are the best.
