    The intimacy with which you treat your subjects here, talking about your relationship to the town and the language, is moving. Wrapping your photos in all the context really elevates my experience of the work.

    Shot with the car is 🔥🔥🔥. Always enjoyed visiting the small towns in japan more than the major touristy cities. Retro vibes, friendly people and good food 🙌🏻

    is that a datsun sunny on your thumbnail and at 8:00? that is my dream retirement car xD of all the rolls you shot I loved the Kodak gold 200 the most, the way it handles the skin tones and blues in 11:54 is really nice and it has a pleasing contrasty punch

    Always enjoy your videos (more solo than with others) and seeing the streets of Japan. I have mostly stayed within the Kyoto-Tokyo range during my visits, along with some day journey further south and west). Next time I want to visit Fukuoka and down around Nagasaki. My friend who lives in Nagasaki came up to join me in Kyoto last time, and next visit I plan to meet her down in her neck of the woods.

    It's still touristy, but we had a great time in the small town vibes around kawaguchiko. I always wanted to check out the more rural areas up north.

    Are you scanning yourself the film ? seems like there's a strong red cast on almost all shots, perhaps it's on purpose though. Anyways nice shots and interesting place, Japan is such a small country yet has a lot of different forms and cool stuff to discover, cant wait to visit in the future.

    • @AlexOnStreets
      @AlexOnStreets  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Ya you know I think it could definitely be some shots I could adjust the white balance more. But overall I think the greens of Fuji 100 came without much complications for me. Kodak is definitely warmer and on that red side.

    In late 70's, some areas of Tokyo looked like Sasebo. Not sure if many places like that are left in Tokyo.
    I always enjoy watching videos filmed in Japan. It reminds me of the good old times in Tokyo. I miss Tokyo so much.
    Do you just process your film and scan the negatives? Or have prints too?
    Why is Tabaco written in hiragana? Shouldn't they use katakana? It's a foreign word!

    • @AlexOnStreets

      They do. Much smaller in height actually. And the mountains are many but much smaller. In the north the mountains are HUGE and the land is much more spread out.

    • @AlexOnStreets
      @AlexOnStreets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually I am formulating a bit of a system. It's not set in stone but.. primarily digital April-October. November-March all film. But color film mixed in here and there when I am ok with paying for extra cost. Maybe when I go somewhere special to me. ;)

    • @AlexOnStreets
      @AlexOnStreets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha you know what, I actually did it on purpose because for some reason I like my mind being flipped on the perspective. Usually I will shoot things going more right to left and I noticed this trend. So I decided to flip my mind in post I guess. Haha.. it's weird.
