Portrayal of Himmler was exquisite. A good watch.
His cold blooded description of killing children was chilling, and the colonel led him into it which swayed the Kaiser's decision to not return to Berlin, even though he didn't know it was a deception.

I have recently seen this movie on DVD and the more I watch it the more I like it. It is really nice to see this kind of story, a German officer who falls in love with a Jewish girl and it is even better due to the great performances. It is a very worth watching movie

His accent is pretty good. I find Matthias in Suite Francaise a lot more spot on and believable though. If you haven’t seen that film, I highly recommend it.

Funny thing.. everywhere I turn I usually see people bash Jai Courtney for some reason, usually his acting skills. yet somehow he's constantly getting roles, alongside pretty big names. If he's bad, his agent must be outstanding.
haha definitely! I think he's body works against him - it's too gorgeous for some roles - he physically doesn't look like he can pull of some roles - for example Kyle Reese from The Terminator comes to mind. But he's pretty versatile. People just hating!

I feel bad for the Kaiser’s aide-de-camp Colonel Sigurd von Ilsemann, his character was real and he remained loyal to Wilhelm and the home and his family there and decided to stay even after Wilhelm II died in 1941, he later took his own life at the stable gate after falling into a deep depression in 1952!

I watched this thinking it'd be another cliche and tacky historical romance. Turns out it was a really great movie that I really was able to relate to. I really liked how the Kaiser was portrayed.
I knew Jai Courtney was in this but I've never seen the trailer. This just makes me want to see it even more now.
I loved Lily James in "Yesterday", not realizing it was she who played Churchill's secretary in "The Darkest Hour". She was great in this movie, I enjoyed it immensely. I was happy to see it didn't end tragically as many movies are wont to do.
However, the show belonged to Christopher Plummer. Great actor.
This movies is fantastic. And Lily James leave you breathless...
For those who don't know who the elderly actor is, that's Christopher Plummer, (Captain Von Trapp from The Sound of Music).
I just find it interesting is that whenever I see him, there is a unique choice of actors working with him. Julie Andrews is one, Daniel Craig is second, James McAvoy is third and now, Jai Courtney.

Those arent pockets, theyre just cut that way
They are functional, but not as deep as the "style" suggests. Breeches are tight, so they had to make room for the pocket and they got bigger over time. Trousers don't have that problem.

After The Silence of the Sea and Suite Francaise broke my heart, I'm glad to know that this one got a happy ending.
But none of them are comparable to The Silence of the Sea since they all have a component of lust in them.
Well in le silence de le mer if Jeanne cannot have the captain, at least have his baby.....
