The episode and this season was much better than the last, I found myself nodding off while attempting a rewatch on that one. S5 had so much more dramatic storyline.
Though the militia is cool historical fears arise. I have a depressed feeling that history of the AWI in North Carolina will be completely free of a kilted Highland Loyalist militia, that they will be whitewashed as effectively as Clan Campbell and the other pro Hanoverian clans were from the Jacobite rebellion. Unless Jaime does something unexpected..... Ain't watched S6 so I don't know. If there is one grim experience ahead if he is on the rebel side.
Fun fact Nell Hudson played Laoghaire published her first novel this week. Entitled Just For Today not probably my scene but thought I'd mention it as 'I loved her character in Victoria'

Netflix put season 5 on their platform maybe a couple weeks ago at least in the U.S. 😃. The season 5 opening music is my favorite !

I feel ya. I paid for 3 months of STARZ for the only purpose of watching this season of Outlander, and their platform is horrible.
Some of us still use straight razors. I use a single blade safety razor for everyday, but I have a couple of straight razors for special occasions. My barber also offers straight razor shaves and they are wonderful.
Also, the wicker crosses are made by Sam’s uncle.
Just found that out recently, when reacting to Men in Kilts - so cool about his uncle.
I was able to skip the ad at the beginning of the episodes by hitting the right arrow... I think. And it's true. Netflix definitely has the least bugs out of the streaming platforms. I got annoyed with how hard it is to skip around to different episodes in the same show. Every time you leave the episode, it goes back to the STARS home page, even if that wasn't your last screen. I've since taken to bookmarking the Outlander page, so I can go straight to it without the dumb home page.
Of the seasons so far, season 5 is the one that strays the most from the book it is adapting, but I think that may have been wise. Book 5 is pretty convoluted. Murtagh died at Culloden in the books, but I like that they made him this regulator leader to make it more personal for Jamie, and I love his love story with Jocasta. Duncan Innes, the man she says she's going to marry here, was actually kind of Jamie's doing in the book. When Jamie refused to be her heir in book 4, he left behind one of his Ardsmuir men, Duncan Innes, who was one-handed, to serve as an agent, so that she would have a white man they could trust to speak on her behalf to the men doing business with River Run that resented that it was owned by a woman. They got along well enough that Jocasta decided to marry him.
Re: Starz. I don't watch Starz on an app, I watch it patched through Spectrum cable. and that has a whoooole other set of technical issues. But hey, at least the glitches aren't coming from Starz; when the box just ups and decides "I'm not gonna work today" it breaks ALL the channels.
I watch Outlander in real time on W Network in Canada, then when the series comes out on DVD/Blu-Ray, I buy it. Can't wait till September 6, season 6 will be out.
I haven't through the comments but season 5 is on Netflix.

Weird, I watched season 5 on Netflix a year ago. Granted I'm in Canada but usually we have LESS stuff than the US.
It just dropped on Netflix in the US, but I recorded these awhile ago. I wanted to react to season 6 in real time over on patreon :)
Trying to remember the books it's been ages but lil jemmy as a birthmark the same as Roger so they 100% believe jemmy is his
I don't want to leave any spoilers in the comments, since S6 isn't out everywhere yet, try to keep it to S5 or early books :) I just finished reading book 1.
I watch the Starz app through my Blu-ray player so I can watch it on the big TV (which is 7 years old and already obsolete in terms of some streaming options) and it's very stable there, fortunately. Glitchy is maddening. And the commercials also drive me mad! Grrr.
That’s good! I’ve never lived anywhere stable enough to have my own tv, so I have to rely on my laptop or phone!
@@alexachipman I have to use my iPad for some options and it's less than ideal. But I can still stream so I shouldn't complain! 😁
Season five is one of my favorites though it's not loved among the book fans which is understandable
For me it was a mix of loved it and probably not going to rewatch that episode. I prefer season 6, although I wish that had been longer :)
@@alexachipman ah yes the episode. It's a very rough watch for sure. Outlander likes to use that to forward the story and it's definitely one of my complaints.
Season 6 is definitely one of my faves along with season 3, but I believe the season was shorter because the actress who plays Claire had gotten pregnant so that plus COVID restricted filming but they are already filming season 7 so let's hope droughtlander isn't too long this time around!
