Oh my goodness! Congratulations. I got married in Denmark in City Hall in September. Also used Getting Married in Denmark. By way of background I live in Australia and my husband lives in UK (although he’s American like you). We were physically separated due to the pandemic and needed to get married so I could get my UK visa. I googled easiest place to get married in Europe and Denmark came up. I’ve been watching you guys the whole pandemic as I’ve taken an interest in the Nordics. Watching your channel made going to Denmark for the ceremony easier as you guys have really educated me on Danish culture. I was always wondering if you two would tie the knot! Also did a bit of sightseeing and loved everything especially a bike tour of the city and Frederiksborg and Kronborg Castles. Thanks for the inspiration and we actually beat you to it :)

We are celebrating our 40th anniversary of meeting on 25 November, and 15 years of “legal” marriage next June. Like you, we also went to our local city hall with our best friends and family for a brief but meaningful ceremony, and had a nice champagne brunch afterward.

Your videos really make me happy to watch because you have such a positive view of Denmark. It takes away some of the shame I feel about being Danish, because of our strict immigration laws 😅
You do realise that a lot of the people who would like to immigrate to Denmark are homophobes?

I was waiting for you guys to post about your experience after I saw your TikTok video about it 😊 I too (a fellow American) went through the paperwork back in October and I was so nervous about them denying my application since my situation was a little different. (I’m marrying a Dane) all I saw were bad reviews of Familieretshuset with processing times and approval. Luckily it took 5 days and now we are set to marry in Aarhus’ town hall 🥰.

Familieretshuset is the agency that handles and enforces divorces and custody battles, plus (maybe) denial of marriage permits. So generally, they are the bogey man and get corresponding bad reviews.

Thank you so much for sharing your speciel day ❤️ The last wedding I joined in DK was in the city hall as well with an international couple and it is a beautiful place. Regarding rings it is interesting that even though many will wear their wedding rings, the use is much more casual here. People might also not pick up on your status (wearing the ring), since many are not married, many wears for fashion and some don't wear it. I have had a Polish friends being very frustrating that flashing her ring had no effect on clueless guys 😅

I'm danish and au paired in Westchester NY back in 2010. Coming back home I found my trip away had tought me more about danish culture than american culture, which was actually a bit of a shocker. We did the opposite and got married in the US for a simple wedding in Las Vegas and then had the big ceremony in Denmark on our one year anniversary.
I still love our small, simple and fun wedding more than the big fancy wedding.
