Everything what you've said in this clip is literally taken straight from my head man. It's so uplifting to bump into someone feeling and thinking like yourselves...

Although I don't really care about finding my son, i do like the boogeyman of the commonwealth storyline. Definitely not perfect but I still like it.

I got invested into Fallout 4's story the first time I played it. I find it easier to invest if your more willing to hang up your disbelief. Like with the skeletons, you know raiders are sick people who are probably fruends with those skeletons, or even worse...
Point is, it's a game, different universe entirely so there's going to be drastically different physics, mentality and ambiance in general. Also, it'd be super boring if it were lacking those little weierd things in their worlds. That said, I've thought the same thing before and the story loses most of its meaning by the fifth or six "I've got another settlement that needs help..."

I still remember the last time I played Starfield. I quit the game with every intention of picking it back up the next day. I had gotten through my first cycle and was going through the process of rebuilding a new ship which involves hopping from planet to planet picking up ship parts from various vendors. That next day I couldn't think of a single good reason to keep playing. The loading screens, the reused points of interest, waiting 24 hours for vendors money to restock, the dialogue ... god help me the dialogue. Even now thinking about Starfield frustrates me.
It's frustrating because in 2002 I discovered Morrowind and it is the reason why I fell in love with video games. I still re-install Morrowind to this day. Often it's because there's a new fan project that gets released or updated but that's fine because Morrowind is still great even 20 years later.
Recently I re-installed Fallout 4 along with the Anomaly mod list. Anomaly is a massive overhaul of Fallout 4 that aims to make it more immersive while also giving it a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. atmosphere. Over 1000 mods and 160 gigabytes of content brought together by a genius installation process. Completely redone systems of damage, health, loot, needs, temperature, companions, ect. It's pretty good. Anomaly's biggest problem is that you have to play Fallout 4.
    I don't think I will ever re-install Starfield.

I love star trek conquest by bethesda, but it crashes a lot too. They've been making buggy games since the beginning.

Like it or don’t like it. It depends on what YOU. get out of the game. The constant crashing made Bethesda infamous made it difficult for many to love the game but much like Dark Souls games the gameplay and the “story” is what pulled many others into the somewhat reimagined fallout universe. Fallout 3 was the first game since my introduction to the soul reaver/legacy of kain series that reignited my interest and fueled my passion for rpg games. It was so different from what I was used to playing I couldn’t stop playing F3. When F4 came out I was elated.

Fallout 3 was in development for 48 months (ish), NV had 18 months (ish) and as you said, Bethesda has been making the same game for a long time, they didn't develop a new engine for 3.
Baldur's Gate 3 had a budget a quarter of what Starfield had, and less than what fallout 4 had. I don't particularly like Baldur's Gate 3 (6/10 for me) but budget isn't the reason it sold well or was a hit. But then Bethesda hasn't made an RPG since Morrowind and even the RPG elements are being dropped like flies with every new iteration.
Also Tactics is fine, it's a spinoff, take it as such and it's a fine game. But I do agree, Daggerfall and Morrowind are both pretty great (haven't played Arena).
