    I have been in the engine room of the Coastal Renaissance during the open ship before it entered service

      You used to be able to if you asked the cheif until 9/11 happened, I remember asking about the metal cages around the turbochargers and gearbox, he told me that a turbo failed and exploded throwing shrapnel across the engine room 😮

      Yep 9/11 was the problem, i asked the captain and an engine room worker if i could have a quick look inside the engine room of the superfast 8 ferry from scotland to ireland but they wouldnt let me, 4 of my favourite engines too sulzer ZA40's 😭

    Good Mak medium speed Diesel, I heard the original engine was pretty problematic

      @@bonkeydollocks1879 These engines are the original engines installed when the ship was built in 1976. The problems were not with the engines, but with the clutching mechanisms used to couple the two engines together. The MaK 12M551AK engine is actually a very reliable well built engine. The C Class ships still have their original engines.

      @@erikg.2666 I spent years on board of that ship. Every little detail in that room breath with my life for me, long night shifts, refits and sailings. Those times are gone now and work in BCF was one of the best I ever had despite shit the company always gave us (especially crewing)
