This has been happening for years the donations go to the ceo and named people first very little goes to the charity its self we stopped collecting after we found out so little of the money we collected when to the people who needed it
Thanks to the two grifters over the pond and the knowledge we all found out about their so called charity foundation, we know how only a miniscule amount goes to the good cause. I have stopped all of my charitable donations now that I have a reacue dog with alot of health issues. @@sierra60Quite agree. The two grifters have done a lot of damage to charities and foundations by opening up our eyes to the money laundering they do. They are nothing but a private bank account for the entitled board members 🤬
If you read those forms that they get you to sign, on the very bottom, in small print, it tells you the percentage of your donation that actually gets donated. Very little gets donated, the rest goes to, cost of running of the said charity.
I no longer give money to charities as my faith in them has been badly broken. I continue to give unwanted clothes and goods to animal charity shops but that's my limit these days.
And then there is the lovely story told to me by a family member about his girlfriend going to pick up her car after it had been serviced at a large box store garage. She knew the amount due, so had cash in hand. Once there she was told that payment was by card only ... to which she replied, 'in Canada, cash is legal tender'. She signed off, put the cash on the countertop, took the key fob from the desk and walked out to her car!
My daughter is one of these that gives extra money to charity. However, my friend’s daughter works for a charity and gets first class everything plus she is given 9 months maternity leave, full pay plus a £500 present. That’s where your charity money goes first.
Worked for a worldwide charity organisation sponsoring children and sadly I would have to agree. Always ask to see their annual financial statement to see how the money is spent. Anything over 30 or even 25 percent in overheads, walk away. But anything like Archewell with up to 95 percent for overheads as well as funnelling money to other charities in return for favour or influence, run.
When I see Card Only registers in the store - I leave. If they do not accept legal tender for purchases, BUT they want it for "charity" - - you know whose pockets it's going in to.

I never give cash of any kind to charities. I will donate items that they need. My Dad told me a story of when he was a boy and his older brothers were overseas during WW2. His mother sent knitted socks for both her boys, which the Red Cross shipped. They were livid to find out that the brothers never received them. So after I heard that story I have never trusted a charity again.

Neil, these on the spot request for money supposedly, for some charity or other, are very suspect. If anyone whats to support a charity company, take the time to look at their financial annual report.... we did and no longer support organised charities, only persons we can support in some way personally. The support is in kind rather than money. Even money given to one's church does not go 100% to good works. This we were told my our Minister many years ago.

Same in Australia, Neil. Tried to pay for a loaf of bread in a bakery here in Fremantle yesterday and was told that they could only accept card. I politely informed the 'cashier' that it was against the law to refuse legal tender in Australia which left her a little red-faced. Won't be going back to that bakery.

Besides-with a tax mad government you can guarantee-cash will be king a la 70's!!
I have a suspicion that the voluntary round-ups at the cash register are lumped in with any donation the corporation who is sponsoring the charity is making, thus the corporation takes credit for the entire donation and receives a larger tax credit than they should be entitled to.
And, is the rounded up money for charity passed on to the charity daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly? In the meantime, the funds collected for the charity, is the money sitting in a bank account accruing interest? The money passed on to the charity, does it include the interest?
Maybe because of employee theft. It happens everywhere Burger places tells their computer is down and can only take cash. Where does the money go? A friend closed 2 stores because of employee theft.
Seems very strange way to conduct their business. Would make one very suspicious. In Ireland l have found it sometimes difficult to get cash from an ATM and have to travel around looking for an ATM that has cash. I don't feel people are using cash as much as they did before Covid. Having said that some want cash only! as they did before Covid.
It so annoying when shops wont take cash and i never give extra to charity when paying by card as you don't know which charity it goes to! What also annoys me is the charge for paper bags now, and the charge for a carrier bag has increased to 20p. Wonder where the extra goes!! Big wave to you Neil and all chums on your channel 👋
We have to bring your own bags and now some stores are refusing to bag your purchases. Rude customer service and then they want you to donate to charities, charge you for using a debit card. When we can hardly afford the prices of eggs and bread. Ridiculous
Here in Spain, particularly coming up to Christmas, notices appear on tills asking customers if they want to donate to a Charity, if you opt to do this, and I have so know from personal experience, the donation shows on your till receipt as a separate item after purchases, and will be confirmed to the Tax Authorities to be offset on your Tax Return. Also, during times of International crisis, wars, famines, earthquakes etc I have donated to some charities through my Bank, who invite donations and again, are recorded and reported to the Tax Authorities. This has been my preferred way of donating for the last 20 years I have lived here. It sounds a bit different from the UK.
I skip over the donation requests on self checkout or cashier as well as people who approach me on the street. Very little is about charitable work these days. It's become big biz with high salaries and generous pensions & benefits.
I donate to my Church and they help people all over the world. They help during disasters, send food all over and thousands of other things. I know they keep track of every single 'penny' and dont waste it.
Friends of mine used to knit blankets, cardigans for charities abroad, then they had a message to say, they didn’t want the knitted goods anymore, they wanted the money instead.
Anything paid by card goes to the airline; cash goes to the charity - takes more than a tad programming, therefore more money, for the company to make that difference. In other words, you pay for meal via card and it goes to the airline; if you make a charitable donation via a card, it just might go to the airlines as a "unknown payment.".
When im shopping and please note even charities for fire-fighters the person is getting paid everyone gets paid to stand around just to get your information and money 💰 i feel robbed having to do self checkout i should get a discount or they can pay me .stuff em all 😅
The easy answer "No, thank you". People need to stop being guilted into doing things they do not wish to. Stop being a sheep.

Here in us, you have to pay by card AND then ge chargedt a CC use fee!!!!
Good idea🙏
And why are we asked for tips on the little electronic credit card machine when they haven’t given any service yet? So rude!!!
Charity begins at home . There are to many stories about charities. 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴😊
When im shopping and please note even charities for fire-fighters the person is getting paid everyone gets paid to stand around just to get your information and money 💰 i feel robbed having to do self checkout i should get a discount or they can pay me .stuff em all 😅
In the states where i live we don't have that
NJ. At Aldi yesterday.
Here in the states I have run into some stores that do ask to round up
@Ei625 wow, I live in Vermont. Small town
What a ripoff. And if I ever see it here where I live it's what I would consider it.
