There is a scripture in the bible that seems to contradict itself. Can anyone can help me understand this “… I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.” - Genesis 32:30 “No man hath seen God at any time…”- John 1:18
We simply can't comprehend 'what' GOD is made of. We can't even comprehend the concept of an eternal being. We will only know the mysteries of GOD when we'll be in heaven. We can't even know if we are the only human beings GOD has ever created. Think about it... In all of eternity, we are here, right now.

Theology need to learn not to use verses to Carve a PHYSICAL image for God. The theology of all faiths need this repenting

God is Spirit , it would be like asking for a chair to describe it's maker . We cannot see God , but God manifested himself in human flesh as Jesus Christ , so we could experience his true character . Not only that ,he allowed us to kill that beautiful character in order that he might reconcile us to himself when we realise what we have done to him through our sins ,which brings us to repentance and then he forgives us of our sins ,and gives us of his spirit that we might remain in him , and he in us . This tells me that He is capable of occupying a finite space (not limited to it but by his own will of course) but that still means that he would have some kind of visible appearance, same case as with Noah. Now God may not be made of light, but it is light that allows us to see to begin with. Light reflects from an object and absorbs the colors of that object (because light is all colors) and goes into our eyes which detect the colors. Our optical system depends entirely on light and it's relation to color. True light is made up of all colors... in other words the rainbow, which God put on earth as a symbol of Himself and around his throne 🤔 i might be on to something but it's all conjecture and ultimately unimportant. God is All that is good,,, and He is invisible, but capable to manifest himself,,, I know of a certainty that He exists, for He manifested Himself in all His glory, right before the full moon about three years ago,,,, I understand that you are skeptical of such a statement and the Bible says that no man has seen God,,,, Moses seen His backside, and others in He spoken to,,,He called my name out in the middle of a horrific thunder storm after dark from on top of my house,,, not a familiar voice, and I went out on to the porch and the storm stopped instantly, I stepped down off the porch and looked back over the house and He parted the clouds just enough to see the full moon, the fourteenth day of the month was over, exactly what I had prayed for,,,,many other things God has demonstrated and blessed me with,,, and I know that God is real.
When God manifested himself to me,,He came in front of the full moon, looking like a cloud and when he was in front of the moon the cloud unfolded into Him and he waved to me three times He was white looking with the arms and legs looking like light graish.
GOD is SPIRIT but put GOD in a box of substance ??? Particles ???? HE's everywhere so HE transcends everything so even layout diagrams that challenge us about GOD. Proverb 21 :30 There is no wisdom,nor understanding nor councel against the LORD. Being written in Hebrew & their respective mindset in mystical things; the "against" also is for noble causes which not necessarily are blasphemous in asking about whatever topic ; like this case HIS "substance" but that HE info about cannot be disclosed in a box...even Scripture the "only box" we can put GOD in perfectly set up so NO ONE can boast we knew the truth since we interpret,get 100s of sermons from one passage all true & others not true interpret... too perfect to even explain in one comment in our limited human comprehension. IMPORTANCE in our Gospel Walk is sole true direction of faith put in JESUS & HIM Crucified(that saves us & redeemed us) HE is our Resurrected and Coming LORD.
